Wake the pets and call the neighbors. It's time for our DGUSA internet pay-per-view preview column!
DISCLAIMER: Projections are made by myself and for myself with absolutely no assistance from Gabe Sapolsky or Sal Hamaoui. No one knows the contents of these projections, but I, in my divine and mystical way, will ascertain the finishes to these matches despite not being caught up on my Dragon Gate DVD's. Some of our departing contestants will receive a supply of Load Hugger cargo nets. Load Hugger keeps cargo in its place. Remember, this is only an exhibition. This is not a competition. Please, please, no wagering. This lineup is based on the best available information as of this writing.
In case you missed it, tonight's big DGUSA show has a special price point. How much does it cost to watch the show tonight on WWNLive.com? Anyone?
Before we get to our picks, let's do today's Wrestling History Lesson. Let's take a look at some of the stars of tonight's show. From the DGUSA Bushido 2010 show in Fall River, Massachusetts, here's a big four-way match of Arik Cannon vs. Chuck Taylor vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Ricochet. CIMA is your ring announcer. Lenny Leonard and Leonard Chikarason have the call.
And, as your free gift for viewing this column, let's take you back to July 10, 2002, to get a look at this Low-Ki fellow. From TNA's Wednesday night pay-per-view in Nashville, here is Low-Ki against A.J. Styles.
Now, on with the projections!
Masato Yoshino vs. Rich Swann: Let's see. Which wrestler's challenging for the title on Saturday night? Thought so. Projection? Yoshino pins Swann with the Lightning Spiral.
A.R. Fox vs. Uhaa Nation: Two of the most gifted wrestlers in the business square off for their first meeting in DGUSA. Projection? Normally, you'd take Mr. Nation over, well, anybody, but this is a huge weekend for storylines. Let's say Fox surprises Nation with a springboard codebreaker for the win.
Sami Callihan vs. BxB Hulk: It's a rare heel vs. heel matchup. Then again, the past couple of months has been about setting up Callihan against a certain homicidal, suicidal maniac on Saturday. Projection? Callihan takes out the ex-champ with the Forearm To Remember.
Sabu & Jon Davis vs. Arik Cannon & Pinkie Sanchez (Miami Street Fight): Sabu and one-half of the NWA Tag Team Champions battle the other two members of Callihan's stable. Projection? A wild Extreme-style brawl, ending when Sabu hits Sanchez with a beer bottle for the victory.
Masaaki Mochizuki vs. Akira Tozawa: These two chaps are on opposite sides of the big six-man main event on Saturday. Maybe it's time to score one for the bad guys. Projection? Tozawa grabs the victory with the Tozawa Driver.
PAC vs. Low-Ki: This is the one a lot of workrate fans have been jonesing for. If you think DGUSA brought Low-Ki in to lay down this soon in his run, well, you might be mistaken. Projection? Low-Ki wins a crazy match after hitting the Way of the Warrior.
CIMA & Ricochet vs. Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor (Dragon Gate United States Tag Titles): The DGUSA Tag Team Champs against the Chikara Tag Team Champions. As i-pay-per-views go, that's a fairly huge main event. Projection? The champs retain after Ricochet hits Chucky T with the double rotation moonsault.
Aftermath: On Saturday night in Miami ("Mercury Rising"), let's go with Bobby Fish over Jon Davis, Fox to beat Cannon, Callihan over Sabu, PAC to win the PAC Invitational, Gargano to retain over Yoshino, and the Veteran Army to beat Mad Blankey in the main event. (Yes, there's a faction called "Mad Blankey" in DGUSA. No, I don't know why.)
