[Q1]

-No WWE opening this week, as this week they went straight for the Smackdown video followed by pyro. Josh Mathews welcomes everyone to Smackdown, which is nine days away from Summerslam. Michael Cole then plugs the Highlight Reel, hosted by Chris Jericho, with Dolph Ziggler as the special guest.

-Lillian Garcia introduces Houston’s own – Booker T. Booker comes out wearing a tuxedo and Cole states that Booker has spent the week at WWE Headquarters learning how to be a better G.M. Booker then does a spin-a-roonie in his tux, then says how good it feels to be back in his hometown. He gets down to business and says, “Houston, we have a problem,” and then throws to footage of last Monday on Raw when Sheamus stole Alberto Del Rio’s car and then returned it in less than pristine condition. Even though Booker thinks it was funny what happened, it was still wrong, so he asks Sheamus to come out and apologize.

Sheamus hits the ring. He explains that the last few weeks “Berty” has said that Sheamus was a lowly hooligan and didn’t deserve to be champion and it made him feel bad, so he stole his car. Sheamus said he had a great time driving around San Antonio, singing songs about Texas, and throwing a burrito on the hood of the car. But, today he feels bad about it, so he apologizes to Booker, Alberto Del Rio, and the WWE Universe. Booker accepts the apology and wants to move on.

Del Rio’s music hits and he storms to the ring upset. He doesn’t want to put it behind him and he will press charges against Sheamus. Booker interrupts and says that if Sheamus is behind bars, he can’t defend the title and the championship will be put up. Alberto then tells Booker that he doesn’t care because no one does that to his property and when someone does something like that, it reflects poorly on Booker T. Sheamus interrupts and has a solution, he suggests that they don’t wait until Summerslam and they have a World title match on Smackdown, tonight. Booker asks Del Rio what he thinks, Del Rio teases waiting, but then accepts the challenge. Booker ends the segment with “Can you dig that, sucka?!”

-Up next, Cody Rhodes takes on Sin Cara!

(Commercial)

[Q2] Cody Rhodes cuts a pre-match promo about knowing what it is like to wear a mask and he even knows why Sin Cara wears one – he is disgusting and ugly and he has nothing under it.

1 - SIN CARA vs. CODY RHODES

Cody slaps Sin Cara to start. Sin Cara tries a victory roll, but only gets a two count. He then leg-scissors Rhodes out of the ring. Baseball slide by Sin Cara gets caught by Cody, he tries ripping off Sin Cara’s mask, but Cara fights him off. Back in the ring, Sin Cara tries a springboard plancha, but Cody cuts him off mid-air with a dropkick. Front face suplex gets a two count for Cody, he then puts Sin Cara in a armbar and kicks him in the ribs. Cody tries to remove Sin Cara’s mask again while he is in a submission hold, but to no avail. Springboard elbow from Sin Cara followed by a armdrag, he then goes up top and hits Cody with a crossbody for a two count. Forearm to the face from Rhodes regains the advantage for him, Cody then complains about the lights, he then goes for the mask again, but Sin Cara reverses into another victory roll and he gets the win!

WINNER: Sin Cara by pinfall in 3:45.

Mike’s Reax: Not a strong win for Sin Cara, in my opinion, and not a step forward for Cody Rhodes either. Cody has been floundering since losing the IC Title and Sin Cara hasn’t done much since returning from injury. Maybe a program between these two could inject some life into them, I’ll see if this goes anywhere or was one match for one week.

-Backstage, Daniel Bryan is caught yelling “No!” at some backstage hands.

(Commercial)

-Wade Barrett vignette. It Looks like they are playing up his bare-knuckle fighting backround for his return.

-Daniel Bryan is out, he is yelling “No!” over and over while the crowd retaliates with “Yes!” chants. Bryan sits in the middle of the ring, holding his head, and he asks the crowd if they think he is some walking catchphrase, they cheer. He says he is a former World Champion and should be in the WWE Championship match and, thanks to his unstable ex-fiancee, he is in a match with Kane at Summerslam.

[Q3] Bryan says that he deserves better than to be walked on by a skipping, Chuck Brown wearing, nutjob and her giant boytoy! Kane’s music hits and he gets in the ring, face to face, with Bryan. A.J.’s music hits before anything happens and she tells Daniel that he shouldn’t feel shocked to see her on Smackdown and she is the guest of Booker T. She explains that she made the match between the two at Summerslam, not because she is jealous, but because they are gifted athletes. A.J. goes on to say that she doesn’t want them attacking fans or each other anymore. She then turns her attention towards Kane and says that it is good to see him again. She tells him that she appreciates how sweet he was to her and how understanding he was when others treated her miserably. She then turns towards Bryan with a scowl, she says that she knows how jealous he was of her relationship with Kane, but she knows how upset he is that he never pinned Kane in a match.

A.J. then tells him that if he is as sane and doesn’t have anger management issues like he claims, that he can prove it tonight by shaking Kane’s hand. Bryan refuses and continues to yell “No!” and she insists that they shake hands and have a clean fight at Summerslam. Bryan reluctantly puts his hand out, then A.J. winks at Kane and he unloads on Daniel Bryan. Kane misses a chokeslam, Bryan tries a No-lock, then Bryan hightails it out of the ring and escapes through the crowd. On the stage, A.J. is laughing hysterically and says that that was great. Kane then sets off his pyro while A.J. makes goo-goo eyes at Kane.

-Backstage, Booker T and Teddy Long are talking about how great a idea it was to make Del Rio vs. Sheamus tonight. Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks barge in and ask for a chance, Booker tells them that he likes their bodies(weird) but tells them that he only wants A+ players and he kicks them out. Hawkins and Reks joke about going back to their old jobs and then ask Booker for a chance, he kicks them out again.

(Commercial)

-Jinder Mahal cuts a promo for Ryback where he asks him to watch his match carefully because Jinder will beat his two opponents faster than Ryback can beat his.

2 - JINDER MAHAL vs. JOE NOBODY & JIMMY THE JOBBER

Jimmy The Jobber starts things off, spinebuster from Mahal to start. Jinder demands that this is be a tag team match instead of a handicap match. Jinder put Jimmy in the Camel Clutch and he taps out.

WINNER: Jinder Mahal by submission in 30 seconds.

-Post-match, Joe Nobody gets pulled into the ring and Jinder puts both men in the camel clutch. Ryback’s music hits and and comes down to the ring. Jinder bails as soon as Ryback touched the ring, Ryback then picks up the two local jobbers and gave both a Musclebuster.

[Q4]

-The Highlight Reel is next!

(Commercial)

-Jericho is in the ring when Smackdown returns. He welcomes everyone to the Highlight Reel. He goes to introduce Dolph, but Vickie interrupts and says that Ziggler will not be lowering himself by being on Jericho’s lousy show. Vickie says that she will speak on Ziggler’s behalf and that her client is a man who can win the big one. Jericho claims to be flexible and says that he has no problem interviewing Dolph’s mother. He jokes and tells her that she looks great for someone her age. They have a screaming match, Jericho apologizes, and then Vickie threatens to walk off the show if she is insulted one more time. Jericho then kicks her off the show! She starts to storm off and Jericho apologizes again and asks her to come back. He asks her to calm down and to try not to be so angry all the time.

Chris Jericho then throws to a video of Ziggler losing to Alex Riley on the “Obscenely Expensive Jeritron 6000.” Jericho shows his Tout of his experience as well. Jericho then asks her if Dolph can win little ones, let alone big ones. She says that Dolph doesn’t want to be on the Highlight Reel because Jericho thinks he has all the answers, but knows nothing. She then challenges Jericho to a match at Summerslam on Dolph’s behalf. Jericho then questions his record in big matches and after reflecting he decided that bringing back Y2J may be the thing to help him get over his losing streak. He does his catchphrases and Ziggler runs in through the crowd and swings at Jericho with the briefcase, he ducks and lays out Dolph. Vickie then distracts Jericho and slaps him, Dolph then gets up and puts down Jericho with a Zig-Zag and then waffles him with the briefcase as Vickie laughs on microphone. She asks Jericho who is his mother now?

[Q5]

-Recap of Sheamus challenging Alberto Del Rio to a World Title match from earlier tonight.

-Kofi Kingston and R-Truth make their way to the announce booth for commentary. A number one contenders match is next!

(Commercial)

-A.W. introduces Darren Young and Titus O’ Neal.

3 – PRIMO & EPICO vs. THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS - #1 Contenders match for the WWE Tag Team Titles

Epico and Darren start things off, Darren quickly tags in Titus, who trades right hands with Epico, Epico tries to tag out, but Titus pulls his leg. Epico kicks Titus in the face and tags in Primo, Darren also gets tagged in. Primo chops Young and whips him into the corner, he then hits Young with a DDT for a two count. Titus is in and the match turns into a brawl, A.W. then tosses some water onto Kofi and Truth, they enter the ring and they attack Darren and Titus, causing a DQ.

WINNERS: The Prime Time Players by DQ in 1:30

-Post-match, Epico and Primo argue with Truth and Kingston about inadvertently costing them the match.

(Commercial)

[Q6]

-Antonio Cesaro is out to say victory to the audience in five different languages. He says that if the crowd didn’t understand, that’s the point! Christian makes his way to the ring.

(Commercial)

4 - CHRISTIAN vs. ANTONIO CESARO

Headlock from Cesaro to start. Christian uses his momentum to send him to the outside. Christian gets pulled to the outside and sent in to the steel steps, then tossed back in the ring. Headlock from Cesaro, he then shoves Christian into the ropes and forearms him in the kidneys. Gutwrench suplex from Cesaro gets a two count, he then connects with a huge Europeon uppercut. Christian blocks a high risk maneuver with a boot to the face. Running forearm from Christian takes Cesaro down, Christian almost puts Antonio away with a sunset flip. Out of nowhere, Cesaro does a fall away slam into a bridge for a two count. Killswitch attempt gets reversed into an awkward suplex which Christian reverses into a inverted DDT for a two count. Cesaro blocks a spear with a Europeon uppercut, he goes for the pin, but Christian kicks out. Christian then hits him with the Spear out of nowhere for the win!

WINNER: Christian by pinfall in 4:30

-Post-match, Antonio Cesaro jumped Christian from behind while celebrating and beat him up around ringside. He finally takes Christian out with a running powerslam into the barricade, which looked pretty nasty.

(Commercial)

[Q7]

-Raw Rebound featuring John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan. Big Show lays out everyone with W.M.D.’s to end the segment. Josh Mathews notes that on Raw, C.M. Punk vs. Big Show will kick off Raw.

-Backstage, Eve is meeting with Booker T to find out if a position is available to her. Booker says that he has no new jobs to offer her. Teddy interrupts to asks Booker if his friend, Kaitlyn can be his new assistant, Booker hires her on the spot. Eve claims that Booker is discriminating against her and threatens to talk to the WWE Board of Directors. Booker then makes a match for next week, Eve vs. Kaitlyn, winner is his new assistant.

-Rey makes his way to the ring, he faces The Miz when Smackdown returns!

(Commercial)

5 - IC champion THE MIZ vs. REY MYSTERIO – non-title match

Miz powers Rey into the corner and pounds away at Rey. Miz whips Rey into the ropes, Rey takes him down with a hurricanrana, he tries a moonsault, but Miz catches him and delivers a backbreaker into a neckbreaker. Miz then tosses Rey to the outside and follows him out only to throw Rey back in. Knee to the back of Rey by Miz gets a two count. Sleeper by Miz, Rey fights his way out only to run into a big clotheslines from Miz. Running clothesline in the corner by Miz, he then goes up top and comes up empty on a top rope double axe-handle. Top rope sitting senton from Rey, he follows it up with a kick to the side of the head for a two count.

[Q8] Rey goes to the top rope, Miz follows him up, they block each other moves and after that sequence, Miz puts Rey down with a big boot. Another big boot from Miz gets reversed into a head-scissor, Miz blocks the move and goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Rey counters into a pinning predicament for the win!

WINNER: Rey Mysterio by pinfall in 4:30.

-Alberto Del Rio vs. Sheamus for the World Title is next!

(Commercial)

-Lillian introduces Alberto Del Rio for his match, no Ricardo Rodriguez even though he is in the ring next to her! Sheamus is out next, he points to Del Rio’s car as he passes it. Ricardo Rodriguez does a proper ring introduction for ADR.

Suddenly, a group of cops make their way to the ring. Alberto grabs the microphone and pleads with them that he never filed a police report and he wants his title match. The cops surround the ring and Del Rio yells at them to go. Michael Cole says that they aren’t real cops and they were hired by Del Rio. Sheamus fights them off for a minute, then the numbers game catches up to him. When Sheamus is out cold, ADR slaps him around and then puts him in the Cross Arm-breaker. Smackdown then goes off the air with Del Rio standing over Sheamus, who is left out cold in the ring!
