Rusev injured – how long will he be out?

By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE star Rusev will be out of action for up to a month with a biceps injury, WWE announced Thursday on their website.

Rusev suffered an apparent injury at Tuesday night’s Smackdown TV taping during a match against Neville. The match was taped for Main Event.

According to PWTorch correspondent Brian Alston, Rusev sold an arm injury in the middle of the match. The match was then called in Neville’s favor due to a medical stoppage. Rusev acted upset as the events unfolded.

According to WWE, the official injury is a “proximal bicep tendon rupture.”

Barring a speedy recovery, the timeline puts Rusev out of action for the entire European Tour in November. It remains to be seen if he travels to Europe to be in another wrestler’s corner or if he remains in the U.S. to heal.

WWE is already short-handed without top stars John Cena (break) and Randy Orton (injury). Rusev is/was scheduled for the A Tour with WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Ric Flair, Divas champion Charlotte, The Dudleys, and NXT champion Finn Balor.

  1. Maybe Rusev will be out long enough for the WWE to rebuild his character. He was a true monster when he was with Lana. They foolishly separated him and Lana, creating a silly feud with Ziggler, Summer Rae and Lana. That feud absolutely stunk and mercifully, hopefully, it is over. I am hoping that they return Rusev with Lana and allow him to “morph” into a “tweener”. That way, he can challenge Owens, Del Rio, Cena, Reigns, Ambrose and maybe The Wyatts down the road. Please, no more Summer Rae and Ziggler though. They both need to move on and so does Rusev. I have nothing against Ziggler, but Rusev deserved better than that stinker feud.
