WWE Raw TV News & Notes 11/9

– Raw closed with a big angle involving The Undertaker & Kane and the Wyatts. After Bray Wyatt “eulogized” Taker and Kane, the Brothers of Destruction made a surprise return on Raw.

Taker was advertised for Tuesday’s Smackdown TV taping in Manchester, England, but Taker returned one night early to join Kane in taking out Bray and the Wyatt Family. Raw closed with Taker & Kane standing tall.

– WWE kicked off a 16-man WWE Title tournament to determine a new WWE champion at Survivor Series.

On the left side of the bracket, Roman Reigns and Cesaro won opening round matches. They will meet in the quarter-finals next week on WWE TV.

On the right side of the bracket, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, and IC champion Kevin Owens won opening round matches. Ambrose and Ziggler meet in the quarter-finals next week.

The tournament started with an opening segment involving Triple H and Roman Reigns, who was #1 contender before Seth Rollins’s knee injury threw the title picture into chaos. Hunter tried to award Reigns the WWE Title if he joined The Authority, but Reigns turned him down.

– King Barrett was involved in a buzz-worthy segment involving Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney. After Barrett and Sheamus antagonized Rooney at ringside, Rooney slapped Barrett. The events distracted Sheamus, who was then pinned by Cesaro in their WWE Title tournament match.

Barrett was also announced for this week’s ESPNews SportsCenter segment, likely to discuss his run-in with Rooney.

– The default main event of the show was WWE tag champions New Day defeating The Usos & Neville in a six-man tag match. New Day’s standard pre-match promo acknowledged that they were left out of the WWE Title tournament.

– The rest of the show included two Divas matches. Becky Lynch beat #1 contender Paige with heel tactics, then Paige beat down Becky after the match until Divas champion Charlotte made the save.

Also, Natalya pinned Naomi before she was roughed up by Team B.A.D. The Bellas were not represented on the show.
