SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

NXT champion Finn Balor suffered an ankle injury at Friday’s NXT live show in Nashville, according to WWE.

WWE said that Balor would not wrestle at Saturday’s tour finale in Indianapolis.

Update: Balor made an in-ring appearance on crutches at the Indy finale. NXT Women’s champion Bayley did a bit honoring Balor mid-way through the show. The main event was then changed to Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin in a three-way match. (Full Indy Results at Prowrestling.net)

– The next step is Balor will “undergo further evaluation” on Monday after the NXT crew returns to their home base in Florida.

Fortunately for WWE, Balor would not miss any TV tapings, as WWE taped all NXT programming leading up to WrestleMania Weekend.

Unfortunately, WWE has a handful of live tours before April. Depending on the severity of the injury, the ultimate goal is to make sure Balor is healthy for the “Takeover” special two months from now in Dallas.
