Kurt Angle talks potential return to the ring

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Kurt Angle reiterated in a new blog Tuesday that he is still a “maybe” for wrestling again. It just does not seem like his desired dream match against Daniel Bryan will be happening after Bryan announced his retirement on Monday.

Angle also wrote about changing things from his career if he could have a do-over, including his addiction to prescription drugs to cope with injuries.

An excerpt from Angle’s latest blog:

Life is too short to go through punishment without having the passion it takes to be a successful wrestler. If you want to do it only for the money, then DON’T do it. Money alone is not worth the bumps and bruises, or aches and pains that go with it.

Would I do it again? Yes! Would I change a few things? Yes! One thing that I would change is the time during my career that I became addicted to the pain meds that I was taking for my injuries. I’m ashamed of some of my actions during that time. So, sit down and think about about the sacrifice of your body and time away from loved ones before you jump into wrestling.

I’m still healthy. I feel pretty good mentally, physically, and spiritually…for that, I’m thankful. Will I wrestle again? Maybe. Do I feel fulfilled about my career? Yes I do!!!!!

February 3 Report

Kurt Angle’s most-recent TNA contract expired at the end of January. Now, he’s trying to figure out what to do with the “second-half” of his life starting at the age of 47.

“Will I wrestle anymore? Maybe, maybe not, but something great is going to occur in the 2nd half of my life. It may be something as simple as serving and helping others,” Angle wrote in a new blog at KurtAngleBrand.com.

Angle said it feels like the day after winning the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics when he did not know what to do with his life.

“My whole life, I was always reaching for something bigger, something better. Now that my career is winding down, I’m in the same position I was 17 years ago. What do I do? What’s next for me? This can’t be the end of GOD’s purpose for me,” Angle wrote.

Going back in time to 1996, Angle found a “sign” in the form of turning on the TV and encountering pro wrestling for the first time.

“I never, NEVER watched pro wrestling before that. So why did I happen to turn on the TV when Stone Cold Steve Austin was laying a can of whoop ass on Vince McMahon? So, for the next few nights, I had dreams of being in that ring, facing Austin in the main event. I had to trust that GOD was leading me. I believe that HE did, the last 16 years have been some of the best times of my life,” Angle wrote.
