2/11 WWE Smackdown News & Notes

– A.J. Styles suffered his first singles WWE TV loss to Chris Jericho on this week’s Smackdown.

Styles and Jericho were set to face off in the opening match of the show, but the match was changed to a tag match against the Social Outcasts. Styles and Jericho won the tag match.

The duo then book-ended the show with a main event TV match won by Jericho, who continues to advance a semi-heel persona opposite Styles.

Because of WWE having a split crew sending half of the roster to Germany for an overseas tour, the show was built around Styles and Jericho.

WWE filled big chunks of the show with video packages from Raw, including highlighting Daniel Bryan’s retirement speech.

– Brock Lesnar is advertised for next week’s Smackdown leading into the Fast Lane PPV. WWE is advertising this as Lesnar’s first appearance on Smackdown in 12 years.

– During this week’s Smackdown, The Dudleys explained their heel turn on Monday’s Raw. Bubba Ray and Devon talked about ending their nostalgia run and getting back to being The Dudleys.
