SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

TORCH TODAY – Sunday, February 21, 2016

– Fast Lane is finally here to presumably decide the main event of WrestleMania when Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose meet. There’s always the chance of a double-pin type situation (foreshadowed by this week’s NXT), especially with a new Network special in March this year. But, the more likely booking is WWE using their “No DQ” rules in a three-way match to have outside interference factor into the decision. Then, start to set up WrestleMania matches tomorrow night on Raw.

– EVENTS CENTER: There are quite a few top independent shows around the U.S. and Canada on Sunday before or during WWE’s PPV. Included is the CWE tour headlined by Colt Cabana, who has main-evented the first leg of the tour. (Full Events Center Line-ups) (REPORTS WANTED to pwtorch@gmail.com)

On PWTorchLivecast.com: On-demand access to “Saturday Morning Wrestling” with Jim Valley, plus the Fast Lane PPV post-game show tonight at 11:30 p.m. EST.

On PWPodcasts.com: The latest wrestling podcast reports.

On MMATorch.com: Full Coverage of the Bellator 149 event on Spike TV, including analysis of what’s next for the promotion after poor co-main events.

– Wrestling legend Harley Race was profiled by the St. Louis Dispatch. The newspaper noted that Race currently lives at a retirement home, where he gets around on a motorized chair. His son, Leland Race, runs the day-to-day operations of the Harley Race wrestling academy and WLW promotion. “You do what I did to my body, for as long as I did, and it’s bound to take its toll,” said Harley. – Exit A.J. Styles, enter Edge (Adam Copeland), who now has non-WWE merchandise available through Pro Wrestling Tees. Tees announced that Copeland has joined the merchandiser with a new line of t-shirts.

Bray Wyatt was interviewed by the NBC affiliate WKYC in Cleveland ahead of the Fast Lane PPV at Quicken Loans Arena. It’s always interesting seeing Bray out-of-character talking about his career in contrast to the character he plays on TV.

Notably, Bray talked about getting to the top of the mountain at last year’s WrestleMania when he got to face The Undertaker. “Now that I’ve already done that, I have so much more to give now,” Wyatt said. He also said he wants to win the WWE Title, not just be an interesting character on WWE TV.

“I want to win the Royal Rumble. I want to do those types of things, and really cement my legacy so that one day, you’re sitting here with a young kid and it was an honor to be able to face me at WrestleMania. That’s what I want. That’s how I want my legacy to be,” Wyatt said.

– Divas champion Charlotte also talked to WKYC in Cleveland about her legacy. It breaks down as wanting to re-define women’s wrestling on WWE TV, offering more athleticism in the ring to show they’re “not just a pretty face,” and carrying on her father Ric Flair’s tradition.

“The fact that my dad spent 40 years creating his legacy and now, I’m an extension of his legacy, it means a lot. I want to do it justice and make him proud. My dad always wanted to be the best, and his passion for the business alone and his fans, that’s what I want to carry on. When people see and watch me, I just want to know that they never left a show unhappy,” Charlotte said.

“X-Pac” Sean Waltman is heading to NWA Smoky Mountain in May. NWA-SM announced Waltman for their “Collision Course” show on May 7 in Kingsport, Tennessee. (Event Info)

– The Tampa Tribune talked to local real estate agent Vincent Arcuri on all of the wrestlers he’s sold homes to in the Tampa area. The Tribune also noted that a majority of WrestleMania main-eventers have called Tampa home. Jason Powell of Prowrestling.net is quoted in the report. (Interesting Story at TBO.com)

– Video of the Day: Joey Ryan proposed to girlfriend Laura James in the middle of their match Saturday night in San Diego. After the ref was bumped, Joey pulled out a mic and ring, proposed, she said yes, and then Joey rolled up Laura for the win like only Joey would. Joey joked afterward that he needed the winner’s purse of their match, presumably to pay for the ring. [ Full Results from the show via SoCalUncensored.com ]
