WWE Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens returned to Michael Cole’s weekly interview segment on WWE’s website to hype his IC Title match at WrestleMania.

In classic Owens form, he ended up leaving the interview when Cole agitated him by asking what happens if he does not successfully defend the IC Title in the seven-way ladder match. Instead of answering, Owens restrained himself from hitting Cole before leaving the set.

Building to the end of the interview, Owens said none of the six challengers deserve an opportunity to face him for the IC Title on a “stage like KOMania.” He added in storyline mode that he was not the happiest guy in the world when Stephanie McMahon made the match, but when he thought about it later, she actually put six guys in a precarious ladder match with a dangerous person like himself.

Owens then dumped on Zack Ryder for being excited to be in the ladder match. “It’s just going to lead to sadness and heartbreak,” Owens said. “Thankfully, his family is used to it.”

Cole brought up classic IC Title matches at WrestleMania, such as the Shawn Michaels-Razor Ramon ladder match at WM10 that Ryder attended and Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage from WMIII. “Never, never seen it,” Owens mumbled, playing up his character’s view that WWE history did not begin until he arrived.

Owens then vowed to make history by being the first IC champion to successfully defend the title at WrestleMania in what was said to be 15 years. Cole then asked what happens if he doesn’t retain, prompting Owens to leave the set to close the interview.
