TORCH TODAY – Monday, March 28, 2016

– WrestleMania Week is finally here. It’s been a very bumpy road to get here in terms of WWE’s booking, but they have one final chance to create a positive feel about this year’s Mania tonight on Raw.

At MMATorch.com: Cyborg is heading to the UFC for the first time. Read about Cyborg’s debut set for UFC 198 in May in Brazil.

John Cena’s appearance on NBC’s “Today” show included Cena acknowledging the Bella Twins’s mom marrying WWE producer John Laurinaitis. Asked when he’s going to marry Nikki Bella, Cena told everyone to slow down and let it play out. Later in the show, Cena and Nikki appeared in a “match game” style segment seeing how well they knew each other. (Video Clip from Today.com)

– WWE is planning a new DVD documentary on Brock Lesnar. Naturally as part of Brocktober month, the DVD is scheduled for release on October 11. (WrestlingDVDNetwork.com Report)

– WWE has announced details on their return to Tampa, Florida for Raw TV on June 27. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and A.J. Styles are the headliners. Also, Chris Jericho is included on the advertised roster for the Raw before WWE heads to Japan for shows on July 1 and 2 that Jericho is also advertised for. (Tampa Tribune Report)

– Whether the Jim Ross effect, a really good product, or a light night of television, last Friday’s New Japan Pro Wrestling broadcast on AXS TV ranked #2 among series & specials in Nielsen’s Twitter TV Ratings.

NJPW on AXS nearly topped MSNBC’s “All in with Chris Hayes” broadcast for first place. The NCAA basketball tournament topped the night among sporting events with dominating social media numbers. (New Jim Ross blog at jrsbarbq.com)

A.J. Styles, a long-time former TNA star like Bobby Roode and Eric Young, wants to see the duo join the WWE roster like he did this year.

“There’s some guys who used to wrestle for the other company in the U.S. that are not working there any more,” Styles was quoted by DigitalSpy.com. “Bobby Roode and Eric Young – I would want to see those guys make their way on over.”

CostumeDiscounters.com published a detailed infographic on the previous 31 WrestleManias leading up to WM32 on Sunday. Included are various stats, wins/losses, title challengers, and more.

Triple H is set for the April 2016 edition of “Muscle & Fitness” Magazine. Hunter, who is on the editorial board for the magazine, is shown on the magazine cover posing with the WWE Title belt.
