New Japan PPV News & Notes 4/10

– New Japan hit a big reset button with the “Invasion Attack” PPV Sunday in Tokyo, booking four big title changes.

Included was Naito capturing the IWGP World Hvt. Title from Kazuchika Okada after interference from his faction and new faction member Sanada.

New Japan is looking to establish Naito’s Los Ingobernables group as an unstoppable force trying to take over the company.

– In the semi-main event, Bullet Club’s brother duo of Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa (former Camacho in WWE) captured the IWGP World Tag Titles from Honma & Togi Makabe.

– Bullet Club members Kenny Omega & the Young Bucks lost the IWGP Six-Man Tag Titles to Tanahashi & Michael Elgin & Yoshitatsu, who returned from injury after missing nearly two years. It was Elgin’s first title gold in New Japan.

– The fourth title change of the night was RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Baretta) defeating Matt Sydal & Ricochet for the IWGP Jr. Hvt. Tag Titles. This cleared Ricochet of the titles with his future up in the air.

– The only champions to retain were NEVER Openweight champion Shibata over Tenzan and IWGP Jr. Hvt. champion KUSHIDA over the debuting Will Ospreay.

– Ospreay made his NJPW debut in a stellar title match against KUSHIDA that was positioned as the show-stealer.

– In addition to having four title re-matches on future shows, New Japan set up some other big title matches. Jushin Liger challenged KUSHIDA to a future IWGP Jr. Hvt. Title shot and Shibata challenged Yuji Nagata to be his next NEVER Openweight opponent.

– New Japan announced the initial details of the 2016 G1 Climax tournament. The tournament begins July 18 and finishes August 14. NJPW is advertising 19 shows for this year’s tourney.

– ROH announcers Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino handled English commentary on the New Japan World PPV stream. Meanwhile, Masahiro Chono joined the Japanese announce team.

During the show, KUSHIDA sent a message to Kelly and Corino that he wants a future ROH World Title shot.
