SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

The “Kickboxer” movie re-make featuring former WWE star Dave Bautista is scheduled for theatrical and VOD release in September, reports Variety.

“Kickboxer: Vengeance” features Batista, Jean-Claude Van Damme, MMA fighters Gina Carano, GSP, and former martial arts instructor Alain Moussi.

The big news of the week, though, is Mike Tyson joining the cast of the sequel, “Kickboxer: Retaliation.” An announcement has not been made on whether Batista will be part of the sequel.

The sequel is currently being filmed in California and Nevada. Filming will shift to Thailand in June.

Tyson, who will play “a tough convict forced into a world of fighting,” is the latest big-name added to the cast following UFC fighter/Dancing with the Stars runner-up Paige VanZant.

“This is a monumental moment for us,” said producer Robert Hickman of Our House Films. “We have already signed on 14 champions from the sporting world, mostly decorated fighters from the UFC, being able to add Mike Tyson as a cast member adds a whole new element and excitement to the film.”
