The National Wrestling Alliance is set to open a new affiliate in New York City, the NWA announced Friday. No start date was announced.

“NWA Big Apple Wrestling” will be based out of New York City. The NWA is also looking to expand into Milwaukee, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

“We are very excited to welcome this new promotion to the NWA family,” said Director of Operations James Beard in a press release. “Our expansion into the Northeast opens up a brand-new market for the NWA and we are very much looking forward to meeting the fans and providing them with an alternative product.”

The NWA is looking to give fans on the East Coast an alternative to WWE, offering the “hard-hitting competitive style that the NWA has become known for all over the world.”

The NWA is also planning a WrestleMania Weekend event in Orlando next year, following their “Parade of Champions” show in Dallas/Ft. Worth earlier this year.

NWA president Bruce Tharpe is looking to expand the NWA brand by licensing more promotions across the U.S. and worldwide, plus expanding its NWAClassics.com video library offering.
