– The full list of ESPY award nominees has been released for the awards show hosted by John Cena on Wednesday, July 13.

A WWE star hosting the ESPYs is the first step in pro wrestling perhaps becoming more involved in the awards show as part of WWE’s new partnership with ESPN.

The next step would be WWE/pro wrestling getting its own category, such as Wrestler of the Year.

The closest thing is Fighter of the Year given to the best MMA fighter. Connor McGregor was nominated for that category, along with the broader Breakthrough Athlete category.

Fellow UFC fighter Ronda Rousey was left off the Best Female Athlete List. Rousey made the nominee list for being knocked out by Holly Holm under the categories of “Best Play” and “Best Upset.”

– John Cena’s connection to Make-A-Wish is going international trying to help a teenager from Pakistan with muscular dystrophy.

Tanzilur Rehman and his family are being flown to Ohio to meet Cena at the Fourth of July Raw in Columbus, Ohio. While in the U.S., the family hopes to find additional treatment to help him live past the age of 20.

According to a local news report, Rehman has drawn inspiration from watching Cena on WWE TV and wanted to meet him in-person. “We emailed the non-profit in the U.S. about Rehman wanting to meet John Cena and they replied, asking us to contact their office in Pakistan,” said Rehman’s mom.
