ROH BITW PPV News & Notes 6/24

– Jay Lethal completed one full year as ROH World champion by defeating Jay Briscoe in a re-match from last year’s Best in the World PPV.

Lethal survived his own Lethal Injection finisher and JayDriller moments before hitting a Super Ace Crusher and Lethal Injection to win. Lethal and Briscoe showed respect after the match.

– In the other title matches, Bobby Fish retained the ROH TV Title over Dalton Castle and The Addiction retained the ROH Tag Titles over Motor City Machineguns, who were looking to win the titles for the first time.

– Steve Corino lost a bloody fight against B.J. Whitmer. The “unsanctioned Fight Without Honor” ended with Kevin Sullivan resurfacing in mainstream wrestling to side with Whitmer and spike Corino in the head, leading to the finish.

– Roderick Strong lost his PPV farewell match against Mark Briscoe, who unveiled a new look completely shaving his head after going with a wild hair look for a few years.

– Moose, whose future is up in the air, was part of a losing effort with War Machine against the Bullet Club in a wild six-man Tornado Tag match.

– Jay White made his ROH debut sitting on the front row after leaving New Japan for a U.S. excursion. In the middle of the Tag Title match, New Japan wrestler Kamaitachi ran down to pick a fight with White, brawling to the back.

– In-between the TV Title semi-main event and ROH Title main event, ROH presented a political spoof with All Night Express and Caprice Coleman vowing to “make wrestling great again.” They are now known as The Cabinet.

– ROH officially announced their PPV return on Friday, August 19 for “Death Before Dishonor” combining the ROH and New Japan rosters the weekend after the G1 Climax tournament ends.

– After the PPV, ROH released a video recap with Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness down at ringside after Jay Lethal retained the ROH Title against Jay Briscoe.
