WWE Live Show Results

Huntington, W. Va. at Big Sandy Superstore Arena
Report by Torch VIP member Travis O’Brian

(1) Golden Truth (Goldust & R-Truth) beat Tyler Breeze & Fandango. Goldust got the schoolboy roll-up on Fandango for the win. Good back and forth action with a positive reaction from the crowd for The Golden Truth.

(2) Apollo Crews beat Heath Slater (w/Bo Dallas) with the spinning Pearl River Plunge. Nice home state response for Slater, but cheers shifted towards Crews. The crowd was lukewarm to this one, not much reaction at all.

(3) Darren Young (w/Bob Backlund) beat IC champion The Miz (w/Maryse) via DQ; Miz retained the Intercontinental Title. Lots of “Miz is awful” chants, so Miz had pretty good heat throughout the match. Maryse got involved to cause the DQ. The only difference in the “Make Darren Young great again” gimmick and his former act is now he has Backlund standing at ringside screaming at him. It looked silly.

(4) Enzo Amore & Big Cass beat The Dudleys. Good reaction for both teams. The crowd followed along great with Enzo & Cass and Bubba Ray cut a terrific heel promo. E&C won with the assisted big splash off the top rope.

[Intermission. Note that every time Roman Reigns was shown on the video screen, he got booed heavily, and this was a family-oriented crowd.]

(5) Sasha Banks beat Summer Rae via submission to the Bank Statement. Decent match and great reaction for Sasha. Good heel heat for Summer, too, as she’s come a long way.

(6) U.S. champion Rusev (w/Lana) beat Kalisto, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Sheamus in a five-way tornado match to retain the U.S. Title. Rusev won via Accolade on Kalisto. Very fun match. It had the crowd cheering and booing the whole way. Definitely the match of the night. Interestingly, Sheamus was acting like a babyface during his entrance routine. He did everything but high-five fans.

(7) Big Show & Kane beat The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt & Erick Rowan & Braun Strowman) in a handicap tag main event. Show & Kane hit a double chokeslam on designated fall-guy Rowan for the win. Another fun match with the Wyatts playing the heels once again. So much for the face turn before Bray’s injury, but the crowd was really into this match, as well as Big Show. Like I said, this was a family crowd.
