SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

C.M. Punk got paid very well for his two-minute loss to Mickey Gall in the special attraction bout of UFC 203 Saturday night in Cleveland.

Punk earned a $500,000 fighter salary, according to payouts released by the Ohio Athletic Commission on Monday.

Punk was the third-highest-paid fighter on the night, trailing main event fighters Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem.

Punk’s opponent, Mickey Gall, received $30,000, a fraction of Punk’s pay-out.

UFC viewed Punk as one of the key draws for the PPV, rewarding him with half-a-million dollars to presumably help boost PPV buys. The official buys count will be released at a later time.

In an interview with Fox Sports after the fight, a humbled Punk said he hopes to fight again, and he believes he is better than what he showed in a one-sided loss to Gall.
