WWE Cruiserweight Tournament News & Notes 9/14
– T.J. Perkins beat Gran Metalik in the Finals to win the first Cruiserweight Tournament. Perkins also won a newly-introduced Cruiserweight Title that he will bring to Monday’s Raw when the Cruiserweight division is re-introduced.
In the semi-final round, Gran Metalik beat Zack Sabre, Jr. and TJP beat Kota Ibushi. (Full Bracket & Table Match Results)
– Triple H and William Regal made their first TV appearances of the tournament. Right before the final match, Hunter made a surprise appearance introducing the new CW Title belt that would be awarded to the winner along with the CWC trophy.
– Wrestlers shown watching the show in the crowd included Sasha Banks, Bayley, Jack Gallagher, Rich Swann, and Kalisto.
– In-between the semi-finals and finals, Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa beat Cedric Alexander & Noam Dar in tag action.
– In the pre-taping dark match at Full Sail University, the Bollywood Boys beat Sean Maluta & Martin Stone in a tag match. (Thanks to correspondent Kyle N.)
– WWE released backstage post-show footage of Hunter snapping photos with TJP and giving him advice after winning the tournament.
