Smackdown Rating: Did the rating rebound after the Fourth of July drop-off with John Cena a centerpiece of the show?

By Wade Keller, PWTorch editor

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

This week’s WWE Smackdown Live rating on USA Network for live and same-night-DVR viewership was 1.65, a modest boost above the Fourth of July rating last week of 1.59. It’s below the 2017 average going into this week of 1.77, but above the ten week rolling going into this week of 1.62.

Total viewership was 2.465 million.

The average rating this year of 1.76 is still above last year’s average through this date of 1.69.

Keller’s Analysis: This is in the range of expectations coming out of a holiday week. The return of John Cena didn’t have a significant influence on what you’d have predicted the rating to be this week even if he hadn’t returned last week to the mix.
