Here are 12 specific recommendations for areas to check out in your early weeks as a member or refer back to when you have time to dig deeper into some features you may not have read or heard previously. This is not an exhaustive list of everything worth checking out, but a good starting point that should create an incentive to dig even deeper and keep exploring all areas of the site!
1 - Bruce Mitchell Columns: He's our senior columnist and his collection of feature columns over the years, the majority of which is featured in this archive listing, is as good or better than any book you'd read on pro wrestling in terms of getting an unfiltered, hard-hidding, educated perspective on the biggest issues in pro wrestling the last 25 years. His content is considered must-read material, and it's worth systematically marching through his work.
2 - WrestleMania 1-14 Audio Roundtables: In recent years, Wade Keller, Pat McNeill, and Bruce Mitchell have recorded one hour (give or take) roundtable audio retrospects on the first ten WrestleManias.
3 - Best of Bruce Mitchell Audio Shows: A VIP member created a very popular list of the best Bruce Mitchell Audio Shows from over the years. This, like his columns, are must-listen, with long-format (and sometimes multi-part) theme-shows that will inform and entertain like nothing else you'll hear anywhere else. We will be updated this list. This link is also part of the VIP Jump Menu at the botton of the VIP Spotlight Box on the right side of the Home Page.
4 - Luther Reigns Audio Talk: This is a bit of a "wildcard" inclusion since Reigns wasn't a big-name in WWE, but it's so off-the-wall it's worth spotlighting here. This was not published in text format, but it is one of the hidden gems in our audio interview archives just for the jaw-dropping nature of what Reigns talked about within hours of leaving WWE in this exclusive one-on-one with Wade Keller. Whenever members stumble across this in recent years, they almost always run to the Forum to ask if others have heard it because it's so interesting. Warning: It is definitely rated-R so, for instance, don't play it on a family car ride.
5 - Audio Torch Talk Listings: To see the latest news audio talks and latest vintage audio uploads, check out this listing. This is a good mix of newer interviews we've done along with never-before-heard audio files of our early Torch Talks that previously were only published in text format.
6 -- 1988 Torch Back Issue PDFs: The Torch Newsletter began publishing in October 1987. The 22 issues have not been republished anywhere. However, starting with the August 11, 1988 issue, we republished issues 23-33, giving you a chance to see our roots in the pre-home computer era.
7 -- 1989 Torch Back Issue PDFs: Continue to witness the evolution of the PWTorch Newsletter with the entire set of 1989 back issues in Digital PDF format.
8 -- McMahon 1994 Steroid Trial Double Issue and Verdict Issue: Check out both links to read both issues featuring my coverage of the Vince McMahon steroid trial that I attended. I was the only media member who saw every minute of testimony from jury selection through closing arguments.
9 -- Chris Benoit Murder-Murder-Suicide Coverage: A several month stretch beginning with issue #974 focused heavily on the tragic Chris Benoit story. Look at the second column for issue #974 and then work your way up as we continued our coverage.
10 -- PWTorch Newsletter #1,000! We celebrated the 1,000th issue of PWTorch Newsletter with a number of columns looking at the totality of the years we covered wrestling.
11 -- Torch Talk Transcript Listings: We continue to add more Torch Talks from our 20+ year history of exclusive one-on-one insider interviews, but this listing includes over 500 Torch Talk installments dating back to the late 1980s and early 1990s all the way through the very latest Torch Talks today. This will keep you busy. We will post alerts on the Main Listing when new content is added. These are listed in chronological order with the most recent at the top, so advance past the first page to get to our oldest transcripts.
12 -- Ric Flair Special Section: Here is a collection of articles on the career of Ric Flair that the Torch has published over the years. It's not every single major article on Flair, and this page was created in 2005, so the last 5+ years aren't represented, but it's a diverse and deep collection of various articles on one of our favorite people to write about over the decades.
There are so many more areas, collections, articles, back issues, audio shows, and features that we could have listed above, but if you're looking to dive right in and hit 12 high-points of our archives, this list gets you rolling.
You will spend years a member getting through all of our content before you feel you've even come close to catching up. The Torch-style of wrestling coverage isn't something you find elsewhere. Our unique voices and diverse educated, informed, independent, and uncompromised perspectives with a wide variety of Torch-specific formats over the years, we believe, is unmatched. And we're adding new content all the time!
So, in summary, use the first column on the left of this page to orient yourself how to access and track our latest content, use the middle column on this page as a reference to get you to our older archive pages you might otherwise not stumble across, and use this right column as a starting point to get a taste of what we do and the type of archives we offer.
