FAQ for Mobile VIP Audio: How to listen to PWTorch VIP Audio on your iPhone or Android devices

As Android and Apple smart phones and tablets grow in popularity, we have more and more PWTorch VIP members asking how to best listen to PWTorch VIP Audio Shows on their smart mobile devices. Below are member-submitted tips on how to best access PWTorch VIP Audio Shows.

PWTORCH VIP AUDIO ON ANDROID DEVICES

Readers have had great success using both the free "Beyond Pod" app and the $4.99 "Dogg Catcher" app. Both have options in settings to add your username and password and save it. Some podcast apps do not have this option, but these two do.

BEYOND POD APP (Free)

To subscribe to the PWTorch VIP Audio shows in "Beyond Pod," follow these instructions:

(1) First of course download the app.

(2) Then subscribe to the PWTorch VIP Audio feed (http://www.pwtorch.com/pwtorchvipaudio.xml). Enter that URL in the feed entry area.

(3) Then once the PWTorch VIP Audio logo is visible on your list of feeds, hold down on the logo until a list of advanced options pops up. Choose "Edit Feed." Then scroll to the bottom of the options and click on "More Settings..." You can then create a custom name for the feed (we suggest PWT VIP AUDIO). Then under that in "Feed Authentication" enter your PWTorch VIP username and password. You shouldn't need to tweak any other default settings. You may need to hit the "refresh" circular symbol to get the feed updated whenever you're looking for the latest show.

That's it!

DOGG CATCHER APP ($4.99)

Some like the premium feel of Dogg Catcher and recommend paying the $4.99 for it's rich features. However, you may very well find Beyond Pod to be a more than satisfying feature-rich app for the PWTorch VIP Audio shows.

Choose "Edit Feed." Then scroll down to "Feed Authentication" and enter your PWTorch VIP username and password. You shouldn't need to tweak any other default settings. You may need to hit the "refresh" circular symbol to get the feed updated whenever you're looking for the latest show.

OPERA MINI BROWSER (Free)

Another option is to just stream the audio shows directly from the Opera Mini Browser. Unlike the default Android browser and other third-party browswers like Dolphin, Opera works well with password authentication sites. So just log into the PWTorch VIP website (http://www.pwtorch.com/members) and enter your username and password. Then zoom into the links for the latest audio shows and click to listen. It should stream on your phone.

FOR IPHONE/IPAD:

The enter this feed: feed://pwtorch.com/pwtorchvipaudio.xml (link). It will prompt you for your VIP username and password. You should only have to enter it once for it to save. (Please do not share your username and password as our log files will alert us to excessive iTunes accesses and your password will be disabled.)

TIPS FOR LISTENING ON YOUR IPHONE: There are several ways to access VIP audio on your iPhone. You can subscribe to our feed in iTunes and then set iTunes to download the PWTorch VIP Podcast to your phone every time you plug it into your computer to recharge and update. Please see instructions on above paragraph.

We recommend logging into the PWTorch VIP website on Safari on your iPhone or iPad (http://www.pwtorch.com/members) and then clicking on the image of the iPhone in the upper right corner. That takes you to our PWTorch VIP Mobile Grid. Then bookmark or save that link as a home screen button. Then click on the "Articles" link. The top link takes you to a list of all VIP Audio Shows in the form of an RSS feed. We recommend this method because it also gives you access on your bookmark list or home screen buttons to other mobile-friendly VIP content such as complete newsletters in simple-text format, the VIP Blogs section, and the VIP Message Board Forum.

Or you can simply save our RSS feed directly on your home screen of the iPhone. It's as simple as entering in Safari on your iPhone the following URL: feed://pwtorch.com/pwtorchvipaudio.xml. Then click on the arrow shooting out of the box on the bottom of your iPhone screen and choose "Add to Home Screen" and then name it "PWT VIP AUDIO." From then on, you're just a single click away from being to choose any of our latest audio updates to stream on-the-go on your iPhone.

Third, you can log into the actual VIP site on Safari (just visit http://www.pwtorch.com/members on Safari and add that to your home screen and title it "PWT VIP HOME"). Then you can turn your phone sideways to increase the size of the web-version of our VIP site and access the latest links just as you would on your computer.

FAQ FOR VIEWING PWTORCH PDF DIGITAL NEWSLETTERS

On your Android phone or tablet, your best chance to be able to view our PDF Digital Newsletters (new issues or back issue archives) is using the Opera Browswer on your tablet. We have tested it on the Samsung Galaxy Tab and successfully viewed the newsletters. We didn't have luck with the default browser. On other Android Tablets, you may not have success downloading the PDF newsletters. If you use another device and find a way to view the PDF Digital Newsletters, please us know so we can update this FAQ!

On the iPad, the most popular tablet device, the newsletters load right into the default Safari browser without a hitch. Just log into the VIP website and choose the issue to view/download. We also recommend the free "Zinio" app if you like to keep a library of issues on your tablet.

We appreciate any feedback on this FAQ page. If you have another method to listen to audio or view newsletters on your Android device, please let us know in as much detail as you can (what method do you use and what device are you using and what software version is installed). Send to kellerwade@gmail.com.

Also, if you use a Windows, Amazon, Nook, or Blackberry mobile device and access PWTorch VIP content, please let us know any helpful tips for other VIP members and we'll update this FAQ. Send to kellerwade@gmail.com.
