First competitors set for WWE’s Global Cruiserweight Series, including Zack Sabre, Jr. & NXT stars

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE and Triple H announced Thursday the first seven wrestlers for the 32-man Global Cruiserweight Series.

Included is a huge international name, Zack Sabre, Jr., and three NXT regulars.

The first announced list includes:

  • Zack Sabre, Jr. (U.K.)
  • Johnny Gargano (NXT/indies)
  • Tommaso Ciampa (NXT/indies)
  • Rich Swann (NXT)
  • Akira Tozawa (Dragon Gate Japan)
  • Noam Dar (U.K.)
  • Ho Ho Lun (Asia region)

The opening round matches will occur at upcoming EVOLVE, Progress Wrestling, and Revolution Pro shows. The tournament will conclude in the U.S. before the series premieres July 13 on WWE Network.
