ROH News: ROH teaming with NWA for the return of The Crockett Cup, Tag Wars first round matches announced for Texas tour, Gordon and Sabin injury updates

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

-The NWA will be teaming with Ring of Honor for the return of The Crockett Cup on April 27 in Concord, N.C.

-The Tag Wars Tournament is returning to Ring of Honor next week. Six first round matches have been announced for the Road to G1 Supercard events taking place in Texas. The format of the tournament will see three first round matches take place in Dallas on Jan. 24. The last three first round matches will then take place on Jan. 25. The rest of the tournament will then conclude in San Antonio on Jan. 26. The semi-finals will see two three-way tag team matches take place with the winner of each match advancing to the finals later in the show.

The winner of Tag Wars will not only get a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but they’ll also get a spot in the Crockett Cup Tournament on April 27 that is being promoted by the NWA and ROH.

-Chris Sabin and Flip Gordon both suffered knee injuries at ROH’s events last weekend. ROH announced that Sabin is believed to have a torn ACL in his right knee after he tried to execute a super hurricanrana on Flip Gordon in a six man tag at ROH’s TV tapings last Saturday in Atlanta.

Gordon injured his knee during his match against Tracy Williams at Honor Reigns Supreme last Sunday in Charlotte. According to ROH’s update , Gordon will be out of action for four weeks with what is believed to be a sprained MCL. Gordon injured his knee after hitting a running dropkick in the corner. He tried to continue, but his knee gave out according to the article on ROH’s website. Both men are expected to have their injuries further evaluated.

The first round matches in Dallas are ROH World Champion Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham vs. Mark Haskins & Tracy William, Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) vs. The Kingdom (Vinny Marseglia & T.K. O’Ryan), and Lifeblood (Juice Robinson & David Finlay) vs. Karl Fredericks & Alex Coughlin.

The first round matches announced for Houston are Colt Cabana & Willie Mack vs. Kenny King & Mystery Partner, Coast 2 Coast (LSG & Shaheem Ali) vs. Eli Isom & Cheeseburger, and The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas) vs. The Boys.

Flip Gordon was originally set to team with Cabana, but Flip Gordon had to be pulled from the show due to his knee injury. The team of Fredericks & Coughlin come from the NJPW Dojo in L.A. The pair are currently training under Katsuyori Shibata in L.A.
