SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is back on the eve of one of New Japan’s tentpole shows – King of Pro Wrestling in Sumo Hall. As with other major NJPW events this year, Alan is documenting his hopes beforehand and will be back afterward to see if all went to plan. From booking to match quality, there are some major variables going into this Ryogoku show, especially with Wrestle Kingdom now very much around the corner. Where will the likes of Tsuji, Oiwa, Umino, and co. fit coming off this show? Alan gives his expectations for all that plus some thoughts on last week’s Korakuen title matches. To begin, however, some words about Pac and the wonderful tributes paid to him from all corners in the last two weeks.

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” Digging into 1991 and 1983 as the WWF reigns in Spain, and Bill Dundee wants forgiveness in Memphis (89 min.)

Thu, 01 Oct 2026 18:18:30 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Manu Romero for the September edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. This month, we play with the calendar a little bit and bend the rules slightly, but it was worth it to have Manu discuss a really important and under-discussed piece of wrestling history – that being the first ever WWF TV show on television in Spain. “Pressing Catch” as it was known emanated from a packed Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona in front of 19,000 fans seeing stars such as The Rockers, The Undertaker, and Tito Santana. Manu provides a ton of really interesting background info about the show, from translations of the commentary to the involvement of one Silvio Berlusconi! For Alan’s pick it was back to 1983 and this time a jaunt in to see Lance & Dave in the Memphis studio once again. It was the typical CWA fun with Lawler, Dundee, Hart, and all the gang, including a very special guest by telephone! So as the Autumn colors appear, fall back into the couch and check out what’s on the telly!

NOTE 1: Very minor (and hopefully unnoticeable) audio issue early in the show, but it was fixed 15 minutes in. NOTE 2: This was taped before the untimely passing of one of Alan’s all time favorite wrestlers – Pac. We’ll have more about Ben in future shows. RIP to a legend.

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: CMLL Aniversario, Shakira, Atletico Madrid, Fujita Produce, and KOB vs. GBH (58 min.)

Mon, 21 Sep 2026 19:41:42 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L reports back from Madrid with Sarah4L in tow to talk about seeing Shakira live (the musician; not the Scott Steiner valet), Atletico vs. Osasuna, and other highlights of the 4Ls’ jaunt to Spain. After Sarah gets the boot, Alan goes solo to discuss CMLL’s huge 93rd anniversary show featuring the big Mistico-Averno apuestas match and much more. In addition, we have some more positive NJPW talk (everyone should be nervous of how regularly this is the case right now) looking at Kosei Fujita’s Produce show with the band “ROTTENGRAFFTY” in Osaka Gorilla Hall and the shockingly great KOB vs. GBH tag team match this past weekend. Check it out (Awwwwwoooooooo!).

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” Tag team excellence in NXT and WCCW, 2016 and 1983. The Revival, American Alpha, Von Erichs, Freebirds, and more (158 min.)

Sat, 29 Aug 2026 03:51:21 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Suit Williams for the August edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. Despite a combined runtime of approximately 90 minutes for the two shows spotlighted, this discussion ends up going nearly twice that length! On tap was a 2016 NXT from Full Sail with a big-time main event pitting American Alpha against The Revival in a 2/3 Falls blow-off match, and a 1983 episode of World Class from the Sportatorium which similarly showcased great tag team wrestling as the Von Erichs and Freebirds battled it out for the six-man titles. Alan and Suit were also treated to a healthy dose of Iceman King Parsons, some Jimmy Garvin greatness, prime Bayley, Balor-Nakamura build, and much more, including a wrestler who was a real revelation on the NXT show. In the warm, welcoming spirit of Bill Mercer, please join us and check out what’s on the telly!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: A detailed look at Oiwa vs. Uemura, and post G1 catch-up spotlighting AJPW juniors, Dragongate, Sendai Girls, Garcia vs. Claudio, more (104 min.)

Mon, 24 Aug 2026 15:57:36 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is back with one of his longest solo efforts yet (multiple recording sessions may have been utilized) and a lot to talk about! After an unforgettable classic to end the G1, Ryohei Oiwa and Yuya Uemura’s efforts deserved a detailed breakdown, and they get it here with nearly 40 minutes of analysis about everything they did in their match and the macro impact it should/may have on pro wrestling and New Japan specifically. After going in depth on the match, Alan discusses where it ranks historically amongst the best bouts. Then with the G1 in the rear view, it was time to start catching up on other wrestling, and there’s a lot! Good and bad from the world of AEW (and ROH) as they march towards Wembley, some excellent Joshi as Chihiro Hashimoto builds her legacy, tournaments in All Japan and Dragongate, and there’s even time for a from-the-vault rec from 1988! After all that fun, the last half hour of the show is a little more on the serious side and reserved for some words about a fallen friend. RIP, Rovey.

Thu, 13 Aug 2026 02:30:35 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by the man who combines silky smooth vocal tones with encyclopedic knowledge like nobody else, host of “Between the Sheets,” Kris Zellner! And if we’re bringing KrisZ on board, it’s got to be for a big occasion – and that it certainly is. This Saturday will see the retirement of Japanese wrestling legend Hiroyoshi Tenzan in Sumo Hall, and that needed to be marked here on ProWres Paradise. Alan and Kris run down the career of Tenzan from beginning to end over the course of two and a half hours! Young Lion days, Murder Inc., tag teams with Chono & Kojima, nWo Japan, G1 wins, injuries, classic matches – it’s all covered as the guys reminisce fondly about a career that has meant so much to New Japan Pro Wrestling. I think it’s safe to say you’ll probably learn something listening to this as Kris drops his wealth of knowledge on us like only he can. Now on to Ryogoku!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” New faces in Smoky Mountain Wrestling and the biggest match in Nitro history! Goldberg, Gangstas, a double dose of Jericho, and more (144 min.)

Fri, 31 Jul 2026 22:42:10 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Grappl’s Gareth Hodgson for the July edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. This time around we’re sticking to the ’90s but with two promotions of vastly different size and scale. Scale was the order of the day for WCW on July 6th, 1998, as they scaled up in a major way for the first Monday Nitro in the Georgia Dome and the legendary world title match between Hollywood Hogan and Bill Goldberg. Alan and Gareth break down the way they approached that three-hour show, analyze how they told the story during the course of the evening, and look at how it affected the other matches and performers on the show. But first, a trip to the Smoky Mountains in 1994, where things may not have been as grandiose but there was tension aplenty with the debut of the Gangstas, people getting jumped in car parks, and even labor union strikes! So join Alan, Gareth, Chris Jericho, and Scott Studd, and come check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: A look back at the history of Osaka Pro Wrestling with Joe Gagne (107 min.)

Sun, 26 Jul 2026 18:31:04 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by the great Joe Gagne for a look back on the history of Osaka Pro Wrestling. From its inception as a breakaway from Michinoku Pro in 1999 through spinoffs, closures, and rebirths, Osaka Pro has always provided a charming alternative form of wrestling molded by the vision of founder Super Delfin. Staying true to its local roots all the way, the promotion spawned a flavor of wrestling which was uniquely its own but would inspire companies and wrestlers worldwide, most notably Chikara Pro. Alan and Joe discuss the many staple Osaka Pro characters from mascots Ebessan and Kuishinbo Kamen to heel linchpins Dick Togo and Big Boss Magma, and all the colorful characters along the way. There aren’t many promotions where you could have seen a diminutive kickboxer have a four-star match with a baseball playing buffalo, but if that’s what you needed in your wrestling diet, Osaka was the place to go. And if you want to hear all the stories and get match recommendations aplenty, then “Joesaka Holiday Paradise” is the episode of this podcast for you!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” Flair vs. Magnum and Vader vs. Steamboat main events eight years apart (166 min.)

Mon, 29 Jun 2026 03:59:25 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Conor Keary for the June edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. This time around it’s a double dose of NWA/WCW as we go to 1985 and 1993 for two shows which exemplify just how much a promotion can change in eight years. That said, the shows had some similarities in structure. Both featured an array of showcase matches, although with very different crews of talent (The Wrecking Crew of ’93 don’t quite measure up to the Minnesota Wrecking Crew of ’85), and both had big name competitive main events. For NWA on TBS, Magnum TA put $1,000 on the line to get “Nature Boy” Ric Flair in the ring, and on WCW Power Hour, Ricky Steamboat was the lucky recipient of a shot at Big Van Vader’s title in a “Computerised Contender Challenge.” Alan and Conor compare and contrast, and give you their thoughts on all the stars (and non-stars) that popped up. So if you need to get in from the heat, put that fan on, cool down, and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: 1987 – A year in wrestling, with Charles of Wrestling Playlists. Inoki, Horsemen turns, Hulkamania, Chigusa, AJPW struggles, more (150 min.)

Sun, 14 Jun 2026 16:39:42 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Charles of Wrestling Playlists for an all-encompassing 1987 deep dive. When it comes to one of the most consequential years worldwide for pro wrestling, there is a ton to discuss, and who better than the foremost curator of wrestling footage history to do it with. From the icons at the forefront of the sport to the future stars cutting their teeth, Alan and Charles talk about all the wrestlers that shaped ’87. Classic matches like Inoki vs. Saito, Flair vs. Windham, and Chigusa vs. Asuka grabbed the headlines in the ring, but it was a year where sometimes the political maneuverings outside it were even more intense. It all contributed to twelve months that changed the business both stylistically and in terms of power distribution. Join us as we go back in time and take you on a tour around the wrestling world of 1987, from the Pontiac Silverdome to Budokan Hall with more than a few stops along the way. Bayamon, L.A., Memphis, Osaka, Brazil, and even a jaunt to Ganryujima island! Check it out.

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L flies solo with some match recommendations old and new, and a rare foray into fantasy booking! Forbidden Door is just a few weeks away, and the likely reality is a card in keeping with the usual AEW PPV, but what if a 2022 approach was taken and efforts were made to really embrace the inter-promotional nature of the show? Alan discusses what could be done, and offers up his unquestionably perfect dream card (pre-show included) to showcase AEW, CMLL, Stardom, and New Japan to their fullest. After the digression into fantasy booking, it’s back to reality and some choice match recommendations from the last week in All Japan, Dragongate, and Arena Mexico, and of course some picks from the vault and 1991 in particular. Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” The Mr. Kareem Muhammad Show featuring the stars of 1985 Memphis and a breathless edition of 2000 Nitro (195 min.)

Sat, 30 May 2026 17:28:37 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by his old wXw commentary partner Jeremy Graves for the May edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. This time around the guys were treated to shows that would have needed three days to give the detail they warrant, but you’ll have to settle for three hours! There was so much to talk about. There’s no surprise when it comes to a 2000 Nitro; it’s going to be a mile a minute and this “FUBAR”/”FUNB” era episode barely stayed on the tracks as it raced through a million angles and developments over the course of the show. Flair family drama, Falkinburg family drama, and Hogan family drama are just the start as we also see Sting and Vampiro with their weird relationship, Lex Luger’s latest disguise, and vehicles… so many vehicles. Things are a lot more low key in the studios of Memphis wrestling back in 1985 but no less noteworthy. The episode in question sees us get very well acquainted with orator extraordinaire Mr. Kareem Muhammed, as he takes over the show and ruffles quite a few feathers. Summer is around the corner and the outdoors awaits, but it’s okay to relax on the couch for a bit and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: Shiozaki shines in Champion Carnival finals, NJPW BOSJ, Speedball vs. Red, Sekimoto, more (65 min.)

Mon, 18 May 2026 00:47:05 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L flies solo hours after the dramatic end of All Japan’s Champion Carnival to talk the herculean efforts of Go Shiozaki against Madoka Kikuta and Hideki Suzuki, and where AJPW may be headed from here. Plus early analysis of the Best of the Super Juniors with detailed thoughts on Nick Wayne and the fantastic Akira vs. Fujita main event, wXw in Hamburg, Daisuke Sekimoto putting a rookie in his place, Amazing Red turning back the clock, and a from-the-vault rec where we turn back the clock to 1998. Sun, 03 May 2026 17:43:01 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Case Lowe for a callback to what we spent many hours of the early stage pandemic doing together, and that is talking about our Greatest Wrestler Ever lists. With ballots due this week, the guys discuss how they are feeling about things, with a lengthy lucha libre discussion revolving around Ultimo Guerrero and spinning off in all kinds of directions. The Pac vs. Ricochet comparison is revisited with someone owing someone else an apology, and for you 1980s NJPW fans, there is a good chunk of discussion about Fujinami, Choshu, Inoki, and that cast of characters. Of course there are plenty of detours such as “2001: A Year In Wrestling,” but overall this is three and half hours of passionate discussion about where wrestling is, was, and might be going, and we think you’ll enjoy it!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” Ring Warriors on Eurosport showing the best of ‘90s NJPW, and the young stars of DDT present Maji Manji 1 (169 min.)

Wed, 29 Apr 2026 17:22:56 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Liam Jones of the “You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me” podcast for the April edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. It’s a double dose of Japan this month. Well… somewhat. We go back to the mid-‘90s for some New Japan Pro Wrestling, but it was not referred to as such and only aired outside Japan. Yes, it’s an episode of Ring Warriors brought to us by the Hiro Matsuda/Howard Brody outfit World Superstars of Wrestling Inc. We absolutely had to pick an airing from Eurosport with Craig DeGeorge and Sir Oliver Humperdink calling the action, and we see the likes of Scorpio, Vader, Ultimo Dragon, and of course The Hell Raisers! Our other show for this month was as Japan as Japan gets with the first episode of DDT Live Maji Manji from 2018, featuring the likes of Takeshita, Ueno, and Mao in the early part of their careers and your DDT staples like Harashima, Mad Paulie(!), and yes, Danshoku Dino. It’s April; go enjoy that grand stretch in the evening, but when you come back inside, have a grand stretch on the couch, and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” The lost years of WWE developmental and a double dose of The Blanchard Territory (153 min.)

Sun, 29 Mar 2026 17:34:12 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Scotland’s Loveliest Podcast Eddie Sideburns for the March edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. In an unprecedented move, this edition sees us look at three shows as Alan could not choose between two episodes of 1983 South West wrestling aka “The Blanchard Territory,” so both ended up on the watch-list along with Eddie’s pick of 2009 Florida Championship Wrestling during a forgotten era of WWE developmental. These may be two wildly different promotions (in so many ways), but they both had their share of controversies! We got people running around stealing tiaras and video tapes, disputed results, old grudges resurfacing, and new ones developing. It’s all discussed along with Terry Funk being Terry Funk (YAY), Josh Matthew being Josh Matthews (BOO), and Brian Cage & The Barbarian like you’ve never seen them before! So break open an early Easter Egg, relax with a milky tea, and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Sun, 15 Mar 2026 04:24:56 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by his Oberhausen travel companions Mike Kilby and Snowboiii Josh for over two hours of chat all about the man of the moment, wXw’s 2026 16 Carat Gold Champion – Ahura. Perhaps the most underrated, under-the-radar wrestler on Earth, Ahura put on the performance of a lifetime over three days in the Turbinenhalle and the lads discuss what got him to that point, his strengths as a wrestler, and what his character is all about, and ponder about what the future for the “Gold King” could offer. From his early days in the Pretty Bastards tag team to miracle matches with Tetsuya Naito in front of 1,000 fans, it’s all covered in detail in a show which hopefully is just the beginning of this special talent getting his due in terms of coverage. Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” The Main Event Mafia explodes in 2009 TNA, and a special Sunday morning Superstars before In Your House Final Four (168 min.)

Sun, 01 Mar 2026 01:19:16 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by the one and only Garrett Kidney for the February edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. When you have the world’s foremost TNA historian as the guest, you’re expecting that you’re going to be “Crossing the Line,” and that’s exactly what happened as Garrett offers up his selection from February 19th, 2009 and an episode of Impact which has a lot to talk about, and we mean a lot. An empty arena main event, Beer Money hitting their stride, authority figure org charts, and even some out-of-character personality profiles. Alan and Garrett talk it all with plenty of fun along the way. Thankfully, Alan’s pick wasn’t as intensive a show so this thing could stay under three hours! That’s not to say it wasn’t a fascinating watch. On the morning of In Your House Final Four, there was a special episode of WWF Superstars hosted by Jim Ross and Dok Hendrix recapping Shawn Michaels losing his smile and looking ahead to Bret vs. Austin vs. Undertaker vs. Vader. All the moving parts of early 1997 in the World Wrestling Federation are on show and give us plenty to analyze. Spring is in the air; let that light in, get comfy, and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: What to do about Katsuhiko Nakajima? (135 min.)

Sat, 21 Feb 2026 21:23:42 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Japanese wrestling expert Gerard DiTrolio as we deep dive into one of the most interesting careers of the modern puro era, and ask the question: What are we to do about Katsuhiko Nakajima? He’s one of the most talented wrestlers of all time, he’s had over two decades competing at a world class level, is somehow still in his ’30s, has no injury history…and yet is seemingly on the outside looking into the world of wrestling in 2026. Alan and Gerard look at what got us to this point, the positives and negatives of Nakajima as a wrestler (and person), the many classic matches, hidden gems that you need to see, and much more. Plus, we try to foresee where things go from here and how he might fare in different environments. Over two hours of great chat and interesting analysis. Check it out!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” Chaos amidst the Horsemen on the first Nitro of ’97, and Bert Prentice presents the Nashville Fairgrounds in ’99 for NWA Worldwide (144 min.)

Sun, 01 Feb 2026 00:09:08 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by expert in all things WCW, Tom Green, for the January edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. It’s a double bill of the late ’90s this time around, as we go to WCW Monday Nitro on January 6th, 1997, and the Nashville Fairgrounds for Bert Prentice’s NWA Worldwide in 1999. Two very different shows which operate with an entirely different pace and, as expected, have quite a contrast in polish. That said, this Nitro has its fair share of messy situations from The Horsemen all asunder thanks to the amazing Queen Debra in a classic segment to Psychosis not quite knowing how to do an Arabian Press (but points for trying). Alan and Tom take you through the whole show and everything going on in the build-up to nWo’s Souled Out PPV. Before that, Tom gives us all a lesson on the wild character that was “Honey Love” as we see what Mr. Nashville Wrestling was getting up to in ’99 with a roster that…well, let’s just say it lacked depth. So for the first time this year, make yourself a lovely Chai Latte, get comfy, and check out what’s on the telly with us!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise – Christmas Party, Pt. 3: Justin Shapiro and the letter W – Walter, Willow, Wade K., Wade B., Will, WHAT?, and Wrestling! (117 min.)

Fri, 26 Dec 2025 05:00:17 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L closes out the 2025 Christmas Party with our pal Justin Shapiro for his annual rundown of the wrestling dictionary. This year it’s the letter W, and maybe the last year where we’re not really stretching to find things (look forward to a lot of Z-Man talk in 2028, guys). Alan and Justin have loads of options for W, and they took full advantage with a show spanning wrestling far and wide. The Alan4L Wrestling Promotion Game Show (take that, Joe Gagne) returned for the second year running, the careers of big names of the present (Walter and Will) and past (Wildman Marc Mero) are reflected on, annoying jokes about WHO? WHAT? and some wrestlers are grouped together in the trashiest way possible. All in good fun and for your listening pleasure this Christmas! Thank you all for joining us in the ProWres Paradise in 2025!

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by the great Joe Gagne for the traditional Joe Gagne Christmas Draft! Yes indeed, we have Rich Kraetsch and Joe Lanza of “Voices of Wrestling” in tow as always, and this year there is no time machine required as we look to the modern Japanese men’s wrestling scene for our draft board. From your big names in New Japan to your Yapper Men of choice, the selection process is intense, but usually everyone is still on good terms afterwards. Is that the case this year? Listen to find out. Also, our drafters are challenged with putting their cards together at the end of the show, and you the listener can pick the winner. Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise – Christmas Party, Pt. 1: “What’s on the Telly?” Live from the Dr. Keith Christmas Mansion – A double dose of Turner television from good times (1985) and bad (1999) (94 min.)

Wed, 24 Dec 2025 02:21:54 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L welcomes everyone to the 2025 ProWres Paradise Christmas Party, and is joined by the legendary Dr. Keith Lipinski (his podcast Dad) for the December edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. If there was a naughty and nice list for wrestling TV shows, it would be very easy to categorize these two offerings. If ever you wanted an example that 1985 Crockett and 1999 WCW were two very different pro wrestling companies, this is it. As New Year’s approached on TBS in ’85, fans were treated to a lovely show filled with elite level promos, timeless characters, and two incredible matches pitting Ole Anderson vs. Magnum T.A., and Ric Flair against Ron Garvin. Fast forward to TNT in ’99 and viewers were punished with something that spent three hours vomiting all over the legacy of pro wrestling – a truly abhorrent show, but thankfully one that was ideal to talk to Dr. Keith about. So fetch yourself a mince pie, pour your Christmas drink of choice, and huddle up by the fire as we check out what’s on the telly one last time in 2025!

Sun, 07 Dec 2025 00:28:34 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L flies solo to talk about a bunch of the wrestling that’s been catching his eye in recent weeks. Dragongate, CMLL, All Japan, New Japan, ROH, and AEW are all discussed as Alan goes through some of the matches you need to see, and the wrestlers that have been delivering the goods. King of Gate coming to a head with a tremendous finale, Yuto Ice making a play for being NJPW’s savior, Lee Moriarty having the match of his life, a surprising rudo act steals the show in Arena Mexico and the promos that have been lighting up the Continental Classic outside the ring. Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: “What’s on the Telly?” The culture shock of 2003 Raw, and a showdown for the ages on an early AEW Rampage – Evolution, Trish & Jericho love story, Kingston, Punk, Danielson, more (148 min.)

Sat, 22 Nov 2025 20:20:17 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Andrew Rich for the November edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. This month we go back to 2003 and experience the often jarring WWE product of the time with the go home Raw before that year’s Survivor Series. Authority figures colliding, a heel stable running roughshod, women being abused, and a bunch of short matches – it had all the tropes, but was it actually good? Andrew and Alan let you know. Then with our other pick, it’s time to go into the AEW vault for the first time in a series and a very impactful episode of Rampage from 2021 thanks to one particularly hostile segment which is amazing to watch four years later. So get in from the cold, grab a cozy blanket on the couch, and check out what’s on the telly with us this month!

Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise: Eddie Guerrero Special featuring Case Lowe (127 min.)

Sun, 09 Nov 2025 17:37:20 +0000

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by Case Lowe to talk some Eddie Guerrero! There will probably be a lot of Eddie talk this month, with the 20 year anniversary of his passing, and with that in mind this show takes the road less traveled and discusses Eddie through the prism of four matches, most of which are very much under the radar. Alan and Case dig through the Guerrero crates and pull out matches featuring the likes of B. Brian Blair, Tatsumi Fujinami, Fuerza Guerrera, and some guy called Dwayne. Using these matches, the guys highlight some of Eddie’s lesser talked about skills and qualities that made him such a world class wrestler. This isn’t just match recaps, though, as there’s a branch-off to a deeper discussion of modern wrestling and its relationship with Eddie, cultural shifts affecting the business, and a bonus surprise segment for Case where we spotlight one of the rising stars of Dragongate – Ryoya Tanaka. This is a seriously packed two hours!
