When Wade, Todd, and I did the VIP Roundtable for AEW\u2019s 2021 All Out PPV, Todd noted that he was doubtful I would call Wade to task for Wade\u2019s star rating of the Lucha Bros. vs. Young Bucks AEW Tag Team Championship cage match. Outside of Travis and me bickering on the East Coast Cast VIP, I rarely feel there\u2019s a point made that I need to fight for that hadn\u2019t been covered.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-89226 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/vip.pwtorch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/HeadshotFann2020_160pix.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"187\" \/>However, that was not the case Sunday night. You see, what Todd (and perhaps you all listening) didn\u2019t realize was there\u2019s one hill I\u2019ll die on with wrestling &#8211; and it\u2019s a simple one: a match, a promotion, a show that is there to showcase pro wrestling authentically. Main line. The pure stuff. And that\u2019s what that tag match, which is one of the best matches I\u2019ve seen, did. From the authenticity of the Lucha Bros. entrance, which didn\u2019t coddle the listener with anglicized versions of their lyrics, to the pageantry of the Lucha choir and dancers, to Mikey Ruckus &amp; Muellas de Gallo, AEW\u2019s musical maven, rapping them to the ring, to Alex Abrahantes\u2019s red and black suit &#8211; I was in from the moment I saw it all.<\/p>\n<p><em>ZERO MIEDO<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>ANIMO AERO<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>MEET US IN THE RING<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>WE THA MEXI-KINGS<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>IT&#8217;S THE FIGHT WE BRING<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>HANGING BY A STRING<\/em><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2418339007\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>ZEROES UP- M&#8217;s DOWN<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>AND WE SAY IT PROUD<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Zero Miedo (Lucha Bros Theme)<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What an entrance by the challengers, the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LuchaBros?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LuchaBros<\/a><\/p>\n<p>How to order <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AEWAllOut?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#AEWAllOut<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/29mWMw2Ivs\">https:\/\/t.co\/29mWMw2Ivs<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hDMm044uqc\">pic.twitter.com\/hDMm044uqc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AEW\/status\/1434684039399677955?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 6, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Penta El Zero Miedo &amp; Rey Fenix, two men I\u2019ve seen across the country &#8211; and particularly in Chicago, where they\u2019ve held singles and tag team gold throughout the indy scene &#8211; epitomized guys ready for war, but doing it, as they\u2019ve done it their whole careers, their own way. Fighting legal issues with AAA and Lucha Underground was nothing compared to getting over in the United States cutting promos in Spanish, getting over to the point NFL All Pros like George Kittle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/wrestling\/2020\/01\/31\/george-kittle-pentagon-jr-cero-miedo-celebration\">use the \u201czero miedo\u201d hand signal for every first down<\/a>. AEW\u2019s fans have clamored for these guys to get into the tag title picture &#8211; and I\u2019ve pushed hard for both men to be given more purchase in the singles scene, along with black performers, to remove the remaining stigma that AEW\u2019s main event scene is an entirely white affair.<\/p>\n<p>Then you move to the match, where both teams of brothers not only set out to destroy one another, but when Fenix was in danger, elder brother Penta time and time again sacrificed his body to preserve Fenix\u2019s. The Lucha Bros match up quite well with the Young Bucks, who sometimes aren\u2019t everyone\u2019s cup of coffee in matches because their brand of Lucha Libre is so violent that the coordinated spots the pairs of brothers utilize in their matches meld in a way that allows both to be seen as fighting, as opposed to waiting for another spot.<\/p>\n<p>The drama that was created in this chemistry, as every shortcut attempted by the Bucks opened the gate for valiant, violent comebacks. By the end of the match, a bloodied pair of new tag team champions celebrated with their families and added the icing to a perfect cake. And that match was the crown jewel of what was an almost flawless show top to bottom &#8211; whether it was the return to wrestling of C.M. Punk, the spotlighting of Ruby Soho, the glorious appearance of Minoru Suzuki (which might be 1a to the 1b of this tag team match for me), as well as the AEW debuts of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole.<\/p>\n<p>(The aforementioned lack of black male wrestlers after 2.5 years in main event positions as a standing issue, coupled with the usage, albeit only for a 3 minute jaunt, of Q.T. Marshall on a show that was a worker\u2019s paradise was issue two.)<\/p>\n<p>And this all came from a working ethos of show love to pro wrestling and let your talent shine. Any promotion, any match, any show that starts from there has my attention. I\u2019m long past the days of \u201chate watching\u201d stuff I don\u2019t like, or doesn\u2019t like me paying attention. That\u2019s why I\u2019ll skip Raw and watch anything Smackdown related with Roman Reigns, because his stuff is rife with little pieces you can pick up. I don\u2019t have to pull out an \u201cI hate WWE\u201d sign, or publicly brag I\u2019m not watching Raw every week. I can watch Stardom, I can watch AAW, I can watch Enjoy Wrestling, I can watch GCW or Beyond or IWC. Because wrestling doesn\u2019t have a wall or limits to how you enjoy it. You shouldn\u2019t have to speak in code to be happy for ex-coworkers getting to ply their trade and lean into their joy.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1962376594\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>So, in true Rich Fann fashion, that\u2019s a long way to get to this: If there\u2019s wrestling that\u2019s authentic, values my time and my intelligence, and wants everyone truly to see themselves in that ring, I\u2019m watching. And if they\u2019re good, I\u2019m going to challenge them to be better via good faith critique. AEW, via that tag match did it, so if I gotta ask my boss \u201cwhy 4.5 stars?\u201d I\u2019m gonna do it.<\/p>\n<h3>FREE MATCH TUESDAY&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>Since it\u2019s been a while since my last submission on PWTorch.com, I wanted to deliver two matches featuring folks in last night\u2019s show:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keith Lee vs. Minoru Suzuki (OTT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I thought this was a pretty fun showcase for both men, got really crazy outside of the ring and the finish was pretty slick:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83d\udea8 FREE MATCH \ud83d\udea8 Minoru Suzuki vs Keith Lee   ScrapperMania 4\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HaBcQjtgmtQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Satoshi Kojima vs. Johnny Smith (MLW)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good match from back in the day &#8211; Kojima, the MLW champion, versus the world-traveled Johnny Smith.
