{"id":141993,"date":"2022-06-26T14:30:42","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T19:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/?p=141993"},"modified":"2022-06-25T23:06:14","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T04:06:14","slug":"kenny-omega-speaks-on-partnership-with-new-japan-pro-wrestling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2022\/06\/26\/kenny-omega-speaks-on-partnership-with-new-japan-pro-wrestling\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenny Omega speaks on partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pwtor-3328629690\" class=\"pwtor-before-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><hr \/><b>SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)... <\/b>\r\n\r\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/widget.spreaker.com\/player?show_id=3076978&theme=light&playlist=false&playlist-continuous=false&autoplay=false&live-autoplay=false&chapters-image=true&episode_image_position=right&hide-logo=false&hide-likes=false&hide-comments=false&hide-sharing=false&hide-download=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"140px\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\r\n<hr \/><\/div><p>Kenny Omega won&#8217;t be wrestling at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2022\/06\/25\/forbidden-door-ppv-primer\/\">Forbidden Door<\/a>, but says that he&#8217;s happy and satisfied that AEW got to this point with multiple partnerships with other wrestling companies.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Fightful, Omega spoke on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2022\/06\/24\/interview-highlights-tony-khan-discusses-working-with-njpw-to-build-forbidden-door-injuries-to-the-roster-wellness-policy-w-radican-question\/\">AEW&#8217;s<\/a> partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling, the Forbidden Door PPV event, and partnerships with other wrestling promotions around the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m able to kind of watch with a smile on my face because this was sort of always the hopeful &#8212; I don\u2019t want to say endgame, but it was always the hopeful pitstop into what the mission statement of AEW was,&#8221; Omega said regarding Sunday&#8217;s Forbidden Door New Japan and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2022\/06\/24\/tony-khan-says-aew-has-a-wellness-policy-provides-update-on-jeff-hardy\/\">AEW<\/a> supershow PPV event. &#8220;We always wanted to make wrestling a friendly place for everyone. Perhaps not all of us, but that was always one of the things most important to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to see a world where we were working friendly with New Japan and I was hoping that was something that would happen from day one. Here we are, we\u2019re working with New Japan, we\u2019re working with DDT, Tokyo Joshi, AAA, Ring of Honor now that Tony has purchased Ring of Honor. We\u2019re working with all of these entities and promotions who may not even want to work with each other, but yet we\u2019re creating the forum for everyone to wrestle and work peacefully. It\u2019s really cool, and even though I can\u2019t physically take part in it, I\u2019m still happy and extremely satisfied that we can get to this point, because this is always what we wanted to do as a company.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kenny Omega is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He&#8217;s also a former AEW World Tag Team Champion. Omega lost his AEW World Title to Adam Page at Full Gear in November of last year. He hasn&#8217;t competed since then due to multiple injuries. AEW has not announced a timeline for his return to action.<\/p>\n<p>Forbidden Door airs live on PPV on June 26.
