Jean Carrol, whom a jury previously ruled Trump sexually assaulted.<\/p>\n<p>CNN included a story on their cable channel covering his resignation on Friday. Many mainstream media outlets have run headline stories about McMahon&#8217;s resignation including the Wall Street Journal. The New York Times sent an email alert to subscribers last Friday. The headline read: &#8220;Breaking News: Vince McMahon Resigns From W.W.E.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>CNN.com today ran a foll0w-up story with the headline: &#8220;WWE knew Vince McMahon was a liability. So why did it bring him back after his scandalous departure?&#8221; Key excerpts:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxr05690000356hm69g44rn@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">In TKO\u2019s most recent quarterly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ixviewer\/ix.html?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/0001973266\/000197326623000009\/tko-20230930x10q.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regulatory filing<\/a> with the SEC, filed in September, the company noted that McMahon\u2019s position on the board \u201ccould have adverse financial and operational impacts on our business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxr1nn70003356hjl4mycza@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cMr. McMahon\u2019s membership on our board could expose us to negative publicity and\/or have other adverse financial and operational impacts on our business,\u201d the company noted in the filing. \u201cHis membership also may result in additional scrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxr48wj0005356hlre24sbo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">Although companies frequently detail potential liabilities to business,\u00a0it\u2019s extraordinary to include the very presence of the company\u2019s leader\u00a0as a risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxtnpv20007356hiy4z55x1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">That risk was realized Thursday when a former WWE employee accused McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking in a disturbing and graphic lawsuit. Janel Grant, who worked at the headquarters of the wrestling behemoth McMahon founded, alleged that McMahon promised a job \u00ad\u2014 and later promotions \u00ad\u2014 at WWE in exchange for sex. Grant\u2019s lawsuit also includes allegations that McMahon trafficked her to other men inside and outside of the company. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxsn49w001w356hvss44ths@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">Whatever happens next, one thing is clear: The WWE knew keeping McMahon as head of the company was risky. It said as much months ago.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clrxsn49w001w356hvss44ths@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">Newsweek ran a story today noting a movement on Twitter\/X calling for a boycott of WWE. Excerpt:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Those details triggered an uproar among wrestling fans and the public, with many taking to social media to express their outrage and call for a boycott of WWE. Users have used the hashtag #BoycottWWE on X to condemn the alleged actions of McMahon and demanding a response from the company.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Triple H was hesitant to comment on the situation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2024\/01\/28\/cody-rhodes-and-triple-h-comment-on-allegations-against-vince-mcmahon\/\">his post-Royal Rumble media Q&amp;A<\/a>, but receiving three questions in a row and finally commented on it briefly.<\/p>\n<p>The Bellas today <a href=\"https:\/\/prowrestling.net\/site\/2024\/01\/29\/brie-and-nikki-bella-comment-on-janel-grant-lawsuit\/\">commented on social media<\/a>. &#8220;We are shocked and disheartened with the recent allegations against members of the WWE.
