Let\u2019s dive into the most OVERRATED and UNDER-APPRECIATED moments from Friday Night Smackdown.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; ACKNOWLEDGE THE CCO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Does Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque really need an entrance? What other Chief Creative Officer gets an entrance? Also, if we\u2019re going to do the whole entrance thing, can we at least go back to the water bottle schtick? On second thought, maybe spitting on the front row isn\u2019t Covid-friendly. Maybe that\u2019s what started&#8230; never mind. Let\u2019s not go there. Bow down to the king!<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; SUITS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For the last few years, I\u2019ve found it so odd seeing Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque in suits. He just looked so out of his element. Shout out to Paul\u2019s tailor, because the man is finally rocking suits that he looks at home in. It suits you, Trips!<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; CHIEF CREATIVE METAPHORS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Delivering metaphors that are grounded in reality is an art form. Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque did not do that by saying \u201cThe road to WrestleMania is on fire\u201d. Asphalt isn\u2019t easily flammable, Paul. It needs to be heated to over 450 degrees to catch fire, and even then, it\u2019s iffy at best. Cody is red hot, but he\u2019s not setting any highways ablaze.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; ROCKY SUCKS<\/b><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1880231465\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>There\u2019s nothing more beautiful than when the entire WWE universe is unified in their love or hate for a talent. What a powerful \u201cRocky sucks\u201d chant. You\u2019d think Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson ruined a beloved DC franchise or something. Love him or hate him, it\u2019s always nice to see teamwork. Good job, audience\u2026right here\u2026 in Charlotte, North Carolina! Thumbs up.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; CATCHPHRASES WITH A TWIST<\/b><\/p>\n<p>While it was a bit on the nose at times, I enjoyed Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque\u2019s twisting of Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson\u2019s catchphrases. What I don\u2019t enjoy is typing out formal names with monikers in the middle. Can we please just pick one name and live with it? Does every Superman need a Clark Kent?<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; BIG EGO VERSUS BIGGER EGO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I think we\u2019re headed for a Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque versus Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson match at Wrestle \u201cPLE\u201d Mania. That\u2019s a lot to put on a graphic. Let\u2019s all keep the graphic designers at WWE in our thoughts this April. I really hope we\u2019re not headed to this match. They should use Rock to boost a younger talent on the rise. We\u2019ve seen this dance before, and I for one, am not interested in a No Ring For Old Men throw down\u2026unless it\u2019s Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Sting, Edge, or\u2026okay fine. Let\u2019s just get this over with.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; BIANCA \u201cBICEPS\u201d BELAIR<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Bianca BeLair\u2019s strength is insane. She\u2019s so disarmingly charismatic and fun, that every time she whips out her finisher, it\u2019s jarringly impressive. I will never get used to seeing her feats of strength.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; BAILEY\u2019S HUG-WORTHY LOOK<\/b><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-812408847\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Bailey\u2019s hair gives me Rufio (from <i>Hook<\/i>) vibes. Looky looky she\u2019s got Hooky. I\u2019m here for it. Honorable mention to the vocal support from the crowd. Again, I love teamwork.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; NOSY DAKOTA KAI<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are so many nose rings between Bailey and Dakota Kai. If Damage Control really wants to get the upper hand, all they need is the giant magnet from Breaking Bad.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; THE AUSTRALIAN R<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Dakota Kai pronouncing \u201cno\u201d as \u201cnor\u201d. I will always love that. Nor one can deny that Australian charm.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; BAILEY GOES FULL VOORHEES<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Bailey flipping the microphone upside down and preparing to use it as a weapon was a fresh, albeit disturbing, breath of fresh air. No one does that! It\u2019s all about the little things and I for one am glad Bailey had a brief moment of homicidal intention. That made the moment feel real.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; NO HUGS GIVEN<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A classic \u201chug it out chant\u201d that went ignored by Bailey and Dakota Kai. Few things in life are certain, but you definitely don\u2019t talk about <i>Fight Club<\/i>, taxes must always be paid, and when the crowd calls from some love, give it to them!<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; DADDY-LONG-LEGS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Randy Orton with Kayla Braxton. My God, the height difference is jarring here. This looks like a Daddy (see what I did there?) daughter dance.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; BUTCH LEAGUE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know why they got rid of Butch and went back to Pete Dunne, but I love this. He looks like he just had his batteries charged. He\u2019s got a newfound pep in his step that goes nicely with a fur vest. Something about having Pete Dunne go by his original name makes me feel like I\u2019m watching one of my favorite \u201890s movies, and discovering it still holds up. <i>Goonies<\/i> for life Pete, <i>Goonies<\/i> for LIFE.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; POSERS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Pete Dunne\u2019s chin fist pose. Am I the only one that wants to know why he does this? Did he have a lot of root canals he\u2019s still mad about? Does he hate his jawline? Is he doing a bored model pose? The world may never know.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; GOURMET SCRAPS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Wade Barrett saying \u201cThey\u2019ve been making gourmet meals out of scraps for years.\u201d Genius line. Golf clap for you, Wade \u201cStu\u201d Barrett.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; REF\u2019S TOUGH HAND<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The ref\u2019s hand during the D.I.Y versus Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate match. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen a ref be forced to count to two so many times in one match. His hand has to be hurting.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; TOMMASO CIAMPA\u2019S KNEE OF FURY<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tommaso Ciampa\u2019s running knee. Holy knee strikes, Batman! That looked brutal. How did Pete even fling his body sideways from that position? No need to pat yourself on the back for that one Ciampa, we\u2019ll all do it for you. Side note, I\u2019m tempted to put the Wilhelm scream under that clip. YouTube it if that doesn\u2019t land for you. You won\u2019t regret it.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; D.I.Y. KEEP DOING THAT?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Can we ditch the gimmick of D.I.Y. patting themselves on the back? I think it waters down their toughness and undercuts impressive moves. Stop trying to make Fetch work, guys. Also, apparently we wear yellow on Fridays.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; I SAW THE SIGN\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWrestling is grrreat\u201d sign. I wholeheartedly agree, and also I want some Frosted Flakes now.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; WHAT THE FLIP?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano\u2019s flip and kick double-team move. What the <i>Street Fighter<\/i> was that?? I haven\u2019t loved something that confuses me so much since <i>True Detective<\/i> season 1.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING PANTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tyler Bate\u2019s trunks. I\u2019m sorry, but I keep thinking he lost his pants, and oddly I feel like R-Truth stole them.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; LOOK WHAT I CAN DO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tyler Bate\u2019s weird dive into the ropes trick. I\u2019m sorry but it doesn\u2019t look like it buys you any momentum or power. It just makes me think of the old Stuart sketch on<i> Mad TV <\/i>where he goes \u201cLook what I can do\u201d and then does something ridiculous because he can. Just because you can doesn\u2019t mean you should.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; WHAT THE SELL?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Every single man in this D.I.Y. vs. Pete Dunne &amp; Tyler Bate match is selling like his life depends on it. It\u2019s like watching crash test dummies collide with rag dolls, in the world of <i>John Wick<\/i>. These guys are selling like it\u2019s Black Friday, all the best moves are on sale, and I\u2019m buying it all.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; KEVIN OWNS HIS JOKE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Kevin Owens explaining his joke to Bryon Saxton, saying \u201cIt\u2019s his Dad\u201d. I love it when stretching out a joke makes it even funnier. It\u2019s very Jim from the office. I guess that makes Dom and Nick Mysterio both lucha libre versions of Dwight Schrute. Now I have a mental image of Dom jumping around a ring screaming \u201cParkour!\u201d How did we get here? It\u2019s kind of like the road to WrestleMania &#8211; nonsensical, random, but a helluva lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; I MUSTACHE YOU ABOUT THIS\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Byron Saxton\u2019s mustache. Is he auditioning to play a renaissance swordsman? What\u2019s going on here?<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; THE WRONG NICK<\/b><\/p>\n<p>R-Truth going for the swerve with mentioning \u201cNick\u201d, only to fool Kevin Owens into thinking he means Nick of Dom and Nick Mysterio, then hilariously correcting him by making perfect sense saying, \u201cNick Aldis\u201d. That was a great bait-and-switch. If R-Truth starts confusing who is who, it could be as funny as little Jimmy was. Whatever happened to Jimmy? Maybe he grew up, trained to be a wrestler and joined the bloodline, while his brother went on to main event status. Poor Jimmy. It\u2019s probably a similar dynamic between Dom and Nick Mysterio.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; ONE MATCH TO GO<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Saying \u201cGood news, we have one match to go}. I\u2019m sorry but the phrasing of that was weird. It sounded like a mother telling her child he has to wait a few more minutes, like we\u2019re waiting for it to be over. I hate this \u201cOne match to go\u201d format beat. It just sounds like they\u2019re saying \u201cI promise we\u2019re almost done, so get excited because it\u2019s almost over!\u201d Why not just say \u201cIt\u2019s time for the Main Event\u201d or something with some pride and luster. At least then it creates the illusion that we\u2019re looking forward to it.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; TALE OF THE TAPE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sami Zayn may have the fastest hand taping in the west. Seriously, that was absolutely perfect. His arm is wrapped cleaner than a Kardashian Christmas gift. Shout out to Hulu, which is also the home of <i>Love &amp; WWE: Bianca &amp; Montez<\/i>!<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; THE XFL TITANIC SAILS AGAIN<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Hyping the evolution of the XFL. Fool me once and all of that. But seriously, you rebranded it, why not just sell it as a new entity entirely? It\u2019s like someone salvaged the Titanic, rebuilt it, changed the name of the ship, but are selling us on its history of failure. Third time\u2019s the charm!<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; UNQUALIFIED<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Logan Paul\u2019s great line \u201cQualifying matches are for unqualified people\u201d. I love that. I\u2019m stealing it, you know, if I ever encounter a casual situation where I too am put into a qualifying match of some sort. Hey, weirder things have happened. Paul \u201cTriple H\u201d Levesque played a teacher in a movie, Val Venus\u2019 towel was more over than him, and <i>Ready to Rumble<\/i> exists. It could happen. Honorable mention of his reaction to having to go to Utah. Classic heel. Classic Utah.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; SAMI FLIPS OUT<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sami Zayn did more flips in this match than HGTV does in a year. I love Sami but I do think they lose their luster after a while. Also, how is he not dizzy? I do one loop on a roller coaster and I need Tums, positive affirmation and a glass of wine. You\u2019ve defied gravity, Sami. Now let\u2019s try getting along with it, just a bit.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; TABLE MANNERS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Huge shoutout to that tough s.o.b. of a table during the Randy Orton versus Sami Zayn match, that survived not one but two attempts to break it. Table your fears, table. I know it was traumatic but you made it, and you\u2019re (maybe) stronger because of it.<\/p>\n<p><b>OVERRATED &#8211; DDT TIME<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Corey Graves saying \u201cTornado DDT and Sami (Zayn) is going to The Elimination Chamber\u201d.\u00a0 No, Corey. That\u2019s not a dominant move. Back in the \u201880s, maybe. But not now. That\u2019s like saying \u201cDavid just hit Goliath with a slingshot, Goliath is going down\u201d. Oh\u2026okay never mind. Maybe it was a Sharknado DDT. I hear that move has more bite. Plus it looks fintastic.<\/p>\n<p><b>UNDER-APPRECIATED &#8211; OBVIOUS PUNS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>How are we not using \u201cThe Rhodes to WrestleMania\u201d as a tagline? WWE did you see what just flew past you? Opportunity.
