Dynamite’s entrance music was playing in the background, but it was interrupted by Gabe Kidd entering with a microphone. He said time is ticking and asked where Darby is.

Gabe Kidd entered the ring and Darby came out of nowhere to attack him from behind. Kidd shrugged Darby off and smashed him in the corner. Kidd removed the turnbuckle, but Darby turned it around and slammed Kidd’s face into the exposed turnbuckle. Darby attacked Kidd in the ropes until Kidd swept out his legs, sending him crashing to the floor. Kidd continued to throw Darby into the barricade and then dropped him with a left-handed lariat.

Kidd tossed Darby into the ring and turned around to yell at the crowd. As Kidd turned back around, Darby came flying from the top rope and hit Kidd with a flying Coffin Drop to the outside. Darby went for a splash in the corner, but Kidd caught him in a rear naked choke in the corner.

Darby escaped by raking Kidd’s eyes, but Yuta came through the crowd. Darby knocked Yuta off of the apron and hit Kidd with a springboard coffin drop. Darby retrieved his skateboard (lined with thumbtacks) from under the ring. Darby jumped from the top rope onto Yuta’s back with the skateboard, leaving Yuta’s back impaled with a number of tacks.

Darby lined Kidd up in the corner with skateboard, but Claudio, Marina, and Moxley all arrived at ringside. They surrounded the ring, and then the lights went out and the arena went black. The Hook “H” appeared in the sky, bringing out Hook to his new, off-putting entrance music.

Hook was in no hurry to get to the ring, and his music was interrupted by the Opps entrance before Joe and Hobbs ran past Hook in the aisle. Everyone began to brawl all around the ring and up the aisle. Willow came from nowhere and attacked Marina. The crowd chanted for Joe as he took Claudio down and Hobbs fought with Moxley.

Gabe Kidd and Darby brawled through the backstage area and Kidd choke Darby on a shipping container. Kidd grabbed a toolbox and pulled out a hammer. Darby dodged the hammer swing and ran to a waiting pickup truck. Darby grabbed some kind of powder from the back of the truck and threw it into Kidd’s eyes.

Kidd was blinded, Darby grabbed his rag soaked in mystery fluid and held it over Kidd’s mouth until he passed out. Darby grabbed a body bag that was tied to the back of the pickup truck, tossed Kidd into it and zipped it up. Darby started the truck and took off, dragging Kidd behind him in the body bag.

(White’s Take: That was a chaotic opening that immediately set the tone for the rest of the night. Eight of Mercedes’ nine belts were waiting for her in the ring as she entered wearing the TBS Title. “WIndsahhhhhhhhh” came over the speaker to bring out Alex Windsor.

The bell rang to start the match 13 minutes into the hour. Windsor countered a hurricanrana attempt with a Sharpshooter attempt, but Mone escaped, crawling to the ropes.

Windsor executed a backdrop on Mone and followed it up with a chop in the corner. Windsor quickly made it to the ropes to break the hold. Windsor escaped to ringside and Mone followed. Mone tried to throw Windsor into the stairs, but she blocked it and then hit Mone with a canon ball from the apron onto Mone on the floor.

Back in the ring, Windsor tried for the Sharpshooter again, but Mone countered out of it and threw Windsor out of the ring. Mone went for a sliding dropkick to the outside, but Windsor jumped over her on the apron, grabbed her leg and slammed her knee into the apron. Windsor put Mone into a sharpshooter in the ropes.

Mone didn’t wait for the five count, reaching back and grabbing Windsor by the hair to break the hold. Mone slid between Windsor’s legs to the outside and powerbombed her off of the apron to the floor. Mone caught her breath as they went to break. [c]

Back from break, Windsor took Mone down with a flying clothesline followed by. Russian legsweep. Windsor went for the pin, but Mone kicked out at two. Windsor went back to the Sharpshooter, but Mone kicked her way out of it. Mone hit the ropes, but ran right into a Blue Thunder Bomb. Mone struggled and Windsor sat back, but Mone grabbed Windsor’s hair and countered into the Statement Maker. Windsor writhed in pain but managed to get to her feet with Mone on her back. Mone took Windsor down with a crucifix bomb.

Mone followed up with a backstabber, but Windsor came back with a pop-up powerbomb that left both women down. The announcer told everyone 10 minutes remained in the match as Windsor wrapped Mone’s legs up as they were both down. Windsor held on for the pin, but Mone just managed to kick out at two.

The crowd chanted :This is awesome” as Windsor tried to drag Mone to the top rope. Mone countered it and went for a superplex, but Windsor connected with a headbutt. However, Mone came back with a gorinoclasm, slamming Windsor down from the top rope. Windsor tried to take her down with a sharpshooter, but Mone countered it into Statement Maker. Mone held the hold until familiar music played. Riho charged in through the crowd, hopped onto the top rope and broke up the hold with a splash. Riho dropkicked Mone out of the ring and then admired the TBS title as Mone escaped.

(White’s Take: Very good match, Mercedes continues her streak of solid title defenses while Windsor proved that, while she may be new to AEW, she knows what she’s doing in the ring. The story seemed to be an intriguing battle of submission holds, with Windsor really trying to lock in the Sharpshooter that tapped Mone last week, which is why the rollup finish was a bit of a let down. I also appreciate that they announced the time limit approaching in this match, as they typically never do that except when there is a draw. The return of Riho sets up what should be a good match against Mercedes. She’s been gone with no word for a long time, but Riho always gets the crowd on her side.)

-Backstage, Renee was with Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs. She asked where Hook stands with them. Joe said she needs to ask Hook. Hook appeared to tell Hobbs and Joe that he doesn’t need their help. He was upset that they replaced him so quickly. Joe said that an opportunity came calling and they had to take it. Joe clarified that he made the call, and that at some point Hook will need their help, and The Opps will have his back whether he wants it or not. [c]

-They returned from commercial backstage with Ricochet and GOA. Ricochet said his issues with The Hurt Syndicate go back before they even joined AEW. Ricochet, it’s business for them, but him and GOA, it’s personal. Toa Liona took credit for ending The Hurt Syndicate’s title reign. Kaun said that Ricochet is better than all of The Hurt Syndicate. Ricochet made a challenge for a six man tag match in Toronto. He actually said it’s not a challenge, but a demand.

-They showed a banner indicating that Taz was inducted into the 2300 Arena hall of fame.

-Mark Briscoe made his entrance as the announcers reminded everyone that Briscoe was targeting Kyle Fletcher’s TNT title. Briscoe got on the microphone to put over the arena as hallowed ground. Briscoe lamented having to talk to Don Callis, inducing an anti Don Callis chant. Briscoe said Callis looks like Elton John dressed up as a prosthetic penis for Halloween.

Don’s single note of music played to bring out Callis, followed by Rocky Romero and Lance Archer. Callis stopped in the aisle and said he had something important to say. Callis said that Briscoe is very impatient, but he’s very busy. Callis eventually told Briscoe that he’ll be facing Takeshita on Collision. This cued Takeshita’s music, bringing him out to join the Callis Family. Takeshita got into the ring and stared Briscoe down. Briscoe said that’s great, but he’s ready to fight now and told Callis to send someone now. Rocky took off his jacket before Archer marched towards the ring.

(2) MARK BRISCOE vs. LANCE ARCHER (w/Don Callis & Rocky Romero & Konosuke Takeshita)

They started fighting immediately 45 minutes into the hour and the bell rang as a ref made it to the ring. Briscoe escaped and landed a kick to the head that knocked Archer to the floor.

Briscoe hit the ropes and connected with a dropkick through the ropes. Briscoe made the cover, but Archer kicked out at two. Briscoe climbed to the top rope and landed the Froggy ‘Bow. Briscoe hooked the leg and got the victory.

WINNER: Mark Briscoe in 8:00

(White’s Take: Fine match, although beating Lance Archer is only slightly more impressive than beating Rocky Romero. Still, Briscoe almost always exceed expectations in the ring, making his match with Takeshita on Collision something to look forward to.)

-Toni Storm was backstage with a camera crew she had commandeered (per Excalibur). Toni addressed the Philadelphia freaks. She said if the building could speak it would never shut up. Toni said she’ll be “the most batshit bitch every to piss in the sink.” Toni said the AEW title is her golden cross to bear. She begged anyone to step up to play the role in the “greatest show on Earth.” Toni said not to worry, “God doesn’t judge. That’s my job.” [c]

-They returned from commercial backstage with Renee interviewing Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander. Harley said she got busted open again last week, but the mask doesn’t protect. Harley noted that her tag team with Statlander is undefeated and called out Brodido. It’s great to see Hangman, Omega, and the Young Bucks in a main event with young guys like JetSpeed and Fletcher. This was the kind of chaotic, PWG-styled athletic showcases one would hope for. Everyone had a chance to shine and we even got a nod to the classic match of Hangman & Omega vs. The Young Bucks. For the kind of person who isn’t turned off by this kind of match, it was fantastic.)

-After the match, The Callis Family attacked Page and Omega as the Bucks went after JetSpeed. Fletcher drilled Hangman with a brainbuster onto a chair. Rocky and Archer brought out a table. Omega tried to fight everyone off, but Fletcher hit him in the abdomen with a chair. A night of quality wrestling action from the great TBS Title match, to the very good tag title match, to the exciting main event. Chaotic brawls and show-closing beatdowns were a hallmark of some early episodes of Dynamite, and a welcome change of pace from the never-ending deluge of matches we sometimes get (on Collision, for instance). The ending probably didn’t warrant its overrun, but at least it wasn’t as drawn-out as the execution of Roman Reigns over the weekend.

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO OUR POST-SHOW PODCAST

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

AEW DYNAMITE REPORT SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 PHILADELPHIA, PA.
