James left WWE in early March and his departure was his own decision according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/pwinsider.com\/article\/205651\/surprising-wwe-exit-today.html?p=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was moving too fast. It was just moving too fast for me,\u201d said James during a virtual signing with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/signedbysuperstars\/videos\/1462104642373452\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Signed by Superstars<\/a>. \u201cWe talked about my brothers and their grandkids and I didn\u2019t get to spend a whole lot of time with mine. So, I\u2019m going to do more of that now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James was asked about his involvement in the planning of WrestleMania 42 that is set to take place on April 18 and April 19 in Las Vegas and said he was heavilty involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, I did. A lot,\u201d said James. \u201cI think it\u2019s strong. I think it\u2019s as strong as you\u2019re going to get. I really do. I\u2019m excited about Brock and Oba Femi. Look, I got nothing bad to say. I think they\u2019re moving fast and they are growing expeditiously. Financially, they\u2019re setting records. Like, you can\u2019t say nothing bad.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This was James&#8217;s second stint as the head writer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrestlinginc.com\/1797015\/details-brian-road-dogg-james-named-co-head-writer-wwe-smackdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smackdown<\/a>. James was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of Degeneration X in 2019.
