MJF said he is the best pro wrestler in the world today and a long line of men are calling him out. He turned to Kevin Knight. He said he doesn’t like him, but he respects him. He said he admires that he’s not afraid to stab people in the back to get ahead. He looked at Kyle Fletcher as he told Knight he is clearly the most talented young prospect in the company. He also took digs at Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay, “Hangman” Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and Mark Briscoe. He said everyone he mentioned is a top star except Briscoe. He said fans love him because they feel bad for him because his brother died. He said he’s actually delusional enough. to think he has a prayer to beat him.

Callis then revealed that MJF’s partners would be Knight, Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade. Andrade angrily told MJF, “You think I will join you?” Callis told Andrade that he’s a future world champion, but it’s not his turn yet. “For now, do the match,”he said.

(Keller’s Analysis: It was funny seeing Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta seem disappointed they weren’t picked. Good segment overall.)

-They cut to Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz at ringside. He hyped the 12-man tag match with Team MJF vs. Team Briscoe for tonight along with the rest of the line-up.

(1) TONY NESE vs. KENNY OMEGA

They cut to the ring where Nese was standing. Excalibur said before they went live, Nese, Ari Daivari, and “Smart” Mark Sterling came out and demanded a match. He said Tony Khan booked Nese against Omega. Omega made his ring entrance. The bell rang 7 minutes into the hour. Sterling distracted Omega, leading to Nese clipping his knee. Omega made a quick comeback and landed Snap Dragon suplexes and then a V-Trigger knee strike. He knocked Sterling off the ring apron with V-Trigger. He then gave Nese a One-Winged Angel for the win.

WINNER: Omega in 2:00.

-After the match, Omega was about to speak on the mic when he was interrupted by Zack Sabre Jr. and his TMDK cohorts, Bad Dude Tito, and Mikey Nicholls. The Young Bucks and Jack Perry came out in response. Omega said he didn’t think Zack would “come all this way to challenge little ol’ me.” Omega said it would look good on his resume to have a big “W” next to his name against Omega. He said it’d also look good for him to beat him not just in AEW but also “my home away from home,” New Japan. Omega closed with his catch phrase.

(Keller’s Analysis: That promo was generic and pointless. There was nothing personal and no context and no hook. Zack just stood there and didn’t talk or show any personality. Excalibur said they’d hear from The Dogs later tonight.

(2) JON MOXLEY & DANIEL GARCIA (w/Marina Shafir) vs. BANDIDO & BRODY KING

Mox and Garcia made their entrance beginning in the concourse. Mox did a Japanese-style push up in the concourse. Garcia and Shafir did push-ups at ringside as Brody and Bandido made their entrance. The bell rang 18 minutes into the hour. Garcia and Bandido started and had some back and forth exchanges. Garcia broke up a Macarena with Brody and Bandido, then broke into his dance. Excalibur said it’s been a while since they saw that. (It’d be nice if we never saw either of those routines ever again.) Taz said he’d be intrigued with Mox doing the dance with Garcia, but he didn’t think there was a chance of it happening.

Mox and Brody tagged in at 3:30 and exchanged chops mid-ring. Brody and Bandido leared the ring and then Bandido backflipped onto Mox and Garcia at ringside. They cut to a double-box break at 5:00. [c/db]

After the break, Shafir stood in the path of Brody as he was setting up a running dive from the ring onto Mox and Garcia at ringside. Brody and Shafir barked at each other. Mox then dove at Brody and elbowed him in the head. Mox and Garcia double-teamed Bandido at ringside. Garcia knocked Bandido into the front row. Mox went back on the attack on Brody in the ring. Mox superplexed Brody for a two count at 14:00 and then they cut to another double-box break. [c/db]

Eventually Bandido hot-tagged in and landed a tornado bodypress off the top rope and then a lift-and-drop cutter. Garcia charged in, but Bandido gave him a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and then press slammed him onto Mox. Bandido set up a 21-plex, but Mox blocked it. Bandido lifted Mox for a suplex, but Shafir interfered as Garcia distracted the ref. Bandido gave Shafir a delay-drop vertical suplex that popped the crowd. Bandido landed a running dive onto Mox, Garcia, and Shafir at ringside at 20:00.

Bandido gave Garcia a top rope frog splash, but Mox stomped on Bandido to interrupt the count. Brody gave Mox suplex. Mox clotheslined Brody. Brody clotheslined Mox. All four were down. Garcia popped up and set up a leg hold, but Bandido turned it into a small package. Garcia reversed it for a two count. Bandido gave Garcia a lift-and-drop kneelift to the chin. Bandido gave Garcia a 21-plex for the win. Excalibur said it was Mox & Garcia’s first loss as a team.

WINNERS: Bandido & Brody in 21:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: A good tag match for sure. That was a lot of time, though, spent on a match with zero backstory presented and no explicit stakes.)

-Fletcher and Okada cut a promo backstage. Fletcher said they will be bringing the International Title back to the Don Callis Family. He said they are awaiting to find out who will stand across the ring from them. They said they know one person who won’t. The camera panned down to Tomohiro Ishii whom they had beat up. Okada yelled, “Protokada!”

-They went to the announcers who plugged upcoming segments. [c]

-Tommaso Ciampa spoke backstage about why he hates Chris Jericho. He said he used to respect him when he was the world-traveling Lionheart who broke down walls. He said the innovator was the best, but the 2026 version that he shared a ring with telling jokes and puns with a pre-school attitude showing desperation he hated. “I hated every last aspect of it.” He told him not to bring that version of himself or else just stay home. He said if he thinks he’s worthy, “let’s dance.” He said the ball is in his court, so don’t drop it. He stood and knocked over his chair and left.

(Keller’s Analysis: Was that supposed to be a heel promo? Or is that not a concern of Ciampa? Because a lot of people didn’t like that segment last week and are nodding along with Ciampa’s assessment of it. The primary job of a heel when working with someone around their level on the roster is to make sure the babyface is more over at the end of the feud, not less over, and everything about that promo felt like taking shots at weaknesses in Jericho’s current babyface persona and putting himself over.)

-They showed Clark Connors and David Finlay lighting a match backstage when Adam Copeland and Christian Cage cornered them. They brawled from the backstage area to the entrance stage. Fans cheered. After getting the better of the Dogs and sending them scurrying away, Christian and Copeland stood in the ring. Christian said he’s never come across another tag team that’s actually named after their mothers. He said if Finlay was supposed to be some sort gift to the wrestling world from his father, “I think I speak for everyone when I say he should have done us all a favor and let you run down the inside of his leg.”

Copeland said The Dogs are trying to make their names on the backs of their reputations. He said they thought they had things figured out in their day, but then they came across the New Age Outlaws and the APA, and it humbled them, but then they learned and picked up intangibles against them. He said they’re going to use their old man strength, knowledge, and grumpiness to be sure that when they walk into their house through the Forbidden Door, they’ll walk out the door as housebroken little pups.

-The announcers discussed the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament bracket. He hyped Thekla vs. Starlight Kid for Forbidden Door,

-A vignette aired with Starlight Kid talking about Thekla spitting on the Stardom logo. She said, via captions, that she will return to Japan with her championship.

-They cut backstage to Thekla responding. She said TK said she’s his favorite wrestler outside of AEW, but all she cares about is her AEW Title belt. She said if she’s upset at her spitting on the Stardom logo, there’s going to be so many things she can’t forgive her for after she takes off her mask and puts a hot-steaming spit wad in it. She said she runs this place. [c]

-Lexi interviewed Brodido backstage. Bandido was elated with the win. Brody said they just proved in front of all of Houston that they are a top tag team. Bandido said he wanted Mox at Forbidden Door. Mox, Garcia, and Shafir walked up to them. Mox said if he wants a shot at his Continental Title, “shoot your shot, compadre.”

[HOUR TWO]

(3) MERCEDES MONE vs. HAZUKI – Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semi-final

Mercedes made her entrance first and, as usual, has the ring gear game figured out. Taz said some match-ups have perfect chemistry, and this match has that in terms of how they apply their craft. Schiavone said the match had a “big-fight feel.” (Uh, that silence is for a different reason.) They battled back and forth early. Mercedes rolled to the ramp and regrouped as they cut to a double-box break. [c/db]

Mercedes dominated for a few minutes after the break. Hazuki leaped through the ropes and tackled Mercedes at ringside. She landed a top rope missile dropkick next for a two count. Mercedes went for a submission, but Hazuki reversed it. They cut to another double-box break. [c/db]

Excalibur said a battle like this spoke to the importance of the Owen Tournament. They exchanged near falls at 21:00 and then stayed down and were slow to get up. Excalibur said the wrestlers, like everyone else watching, were trying to catch their breath. Mercedes landed a backstabber and then rolled into a Statement Maker. Hazuki held on for several seconds before tapping out. Taz said there was no shame in Hazuki tapping.

WINNER: Mercedes in 23:00 to advance to the Owen Final.

-Excalibur commented on the brackets where Maya World vs. Athena will determine Mercedes’ opponent in the final. He said they will wrestle on Collision on Saturday.

-A vignette aired with Maya World and Athena speaking about their match.

-Tony Schiavone stood mid-ring and introduced Will Ospreay. When Ospreay entered the ring, Schiavone congratulated him for getting married. Ospreay said the wedding was lovely. He said he was intending to be on the honeymood, but “the wife” told him to stay focused on the tournament “and go chase your dream.” He said he has a good wife. He said: “Here’s what I did to treat her is I took her upstairs and smashed her life out of her.” Schiavone covered his mouth is embarrassment. He laughed. Schiavone pivoted to introducing Swerve Strickland.

Strickland came out with Prince Nana. Nana critiqued Schiavone’s suit for being too tight. He shooed him out of the ring. Swerve said he’s been keeping his eye on Ospreay and he didn’t like that he has changed. Ospreay asked, “I’ve changed?” He said he dresses the same, but his hair is styled a little better. He said Swerve has changed. Swerve said Ospreay is palling around with Moxley and his crew like it’s “Booty Bootcamp.” He said he never gave an explanation why he’s doing that. Swerve congratulated him, but said he’s changed.

Ospreay said he hasn’t forgotten what they did to him or forgiven them, but he had to let it go. He said the training is working and his ground game is improving. Osreay talked about their history in AEW. He talked about Swerve being selfish in the past when they were supposedly friends. “Where were you and why didn’t you help me?” he asked. As Swerve was about to answer. Ospreay knocked the mic out of his hand. Ospreay pointed at the Forbidden Door logo on a big screen. He talked about working on building sites as a kid outside of Wembley Arena. He said teachers would ask every 14 year old what they wanted to be when they grew up. He said the kids all said they wanted to kick the winning ball. He said he is one kick away from kicking the final ball. He said this is the semi-finals “for my World Cup.” He said he won’t let him end his dream or his country’s dream. He said he won’t hesitate to end him.

Swerve said, “Not if I do it first.” Swerve said he had to listen to him last year tell him it wasn’t their time, but rather it was Hangman’s time. He said he agreed with him and then had to team with him to fend off The Death Riders and take the World Title off of Moxley. He asked where Hangman is now. He said he hasn’t heard from him. He said he can’t wrestle for the AEW Title anymore, so everything they sacrificed was for nothing. He said now he wants him to step out of his way so he can have a nice path to Wembley. He said he’s done stepping aside for other for opportunities he deserves. He said he made a career of destroying plans. He said that’s what he’s good at and who he is. He said every time they step in the ring, it’s fireworks and they change the conversation of what pro wrestling can be and will be. He said partners or opponents, they raise the bar. He predicted victory. “You have not been able to beat me in ten years,” he said. He said when he goes to Wembley, maybe he can challenge him after he wins the title and then he will beat him again and again. “This Will Ospreay isn’t better than me on my worst day with your fragile-ass neck,” he said. Ospreay punched Swerve and knocked him down.

Nana handed Swerve a chain. Swerve stood and wrapped his fist with the chain. The Death Riders theme played and Mox waled out with Shafir, Garcia, and Pac. Swerve said, “You’re wrong, Will; you really have changed.” He smiled and dropped the mic and left. Schiavone called it a smart move to retreat. Ospreay dropped to ringside and stood next to Mox. Taz said he didn’t think Ospreay was thrilled Mox came out there since he looked ready to fight.

-Lexi interviewed Chris Jericho backstage and asked about Ciampa saying he wanted to see a more serious side of him. Jericho said on Collision, he’s willing to get serious with him face to face. [c]

-Backstage, Garcia asked Ospreay what he was going to do about Swerve calling him fragile. Ospreay shoved Garcia against a wall. Mox asked Ospreay if he feels in control of himself right now. Ospreay said he doesn’t. Mox said words can’t hurt you unless you let them. He told him not to lose control or focus because they’re just words. Garcia, looking dejected, said, “Yeah, they’re just words.” Fans laughed.

-MJF made his entrance.

-After MJF and the Don Callis Family made their entrance for the main event, Briscoe introduced Konosuke Takeshita and Darby as the partners rounding out their team. Fans cheered. Darby said they’re going to win tonight, then at Forbidden Door, and then Briscoe would win the AEW World Title. [c]

(4) MJF & ANDRADE & KEVIN KNIGHT & KYLE FLETCHER & KAZUCHIKA OKADA & JAKE DOYLE vs. THE CONGLOMERATION (Mark Briscoe & Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly & Darby Allin & Konosuke Takeshita)

The bell rang 57 minutes into the hour.

[OVERRUN]

Knight ended up fleeing from Darby into the crowd. Darby pursued him and caught him on the stage. Doyle pulled Darby off of Knight and then threw him off the stage into the ringpost. Darby took a nasty bump. MJF then set up Briscoe for a Heat Seeker, but Briscoe escaped and landed a Jay Driller. Callis distracted the ref so the ref didn’t make the count. Briscoe climbed to the top rope, but Fletcher knocked him off balance. Strong tagged himself in and went after MJF, but MJF yanked him to the mat and applied Salt of the Earth for a tapout win.

WINNERS: MJF & Don Callis Family in 17:00.

-The heels attacked the faces after the match. The frantic ringing of the bell didn’t stop them. Andrade and MJF got into a spat afterward and Callis attempted to play peacemaker. Andrade, at the direction of Callis, held Briscoe for MJF to him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF’s music played. Andrade looked remorseful.

JOIN US LIVE ON YOUTUBE TONIGHT FOR THE VIDEO-FORMAT OF OUR LIVE POST-SHOWS…

PWTorch editor Wade Keller and PWTorch’s Taylor Halley to review AEW Dynamite LIVE tonight right after Dynamite.
