Excalibur said they were still reeling from the happenings at Forbidden Door. He threw to footage from after Sunday’s PPV.

-Renee Paquette interviewed Will Ospreay who was still covered in dried blood and holding hands with his wife. He said words couldn’t describe how he felt. Jon Moxley interrupted by mistake as he left his locker room. Mox was willing to go back into the room, but Renee said she’d leave. Mox told Ospreay he’d have a tough time topping that. He asked if he was okay. Ospreay assured him he was fine and he thanked Mox for being there for him.

Ospreay said he had a question for him about what he meant when he said a couple weeks ago he was waiting to see “it” from him. Mox took a deep breath and said if he could define it, he’d do it for everyone. He said if he wants him be the real deal, he has to live it. He said AEW could be something great, but the business has always been for carnies and liars and backstabbers who all pull each other down. “It’s up to us to protect this place, to preserve this craft,” he said.

Mox offered him a Death Riders patch. “You wanna war this, you can ride with us, you can ride with me, anywhere you want to go.” He put his hand on his shoulder and said hew as proud of him. He handed him the patch. Ospreay smiled. Kenny Omega showed up and said, “Nice patch.” He told Ospreay he made him proud and now he’s main eventing All In at Wembley. Ospreay told him he’s not his dad and he can see him judging the patch in his hand. He said just because Omega has given up on himself doesn’t mean he’s going to do that. MJF walked in and said he didn’t want to interrupt the lovers’ quarrel.

Omega turned to MJF and said if he survives his match against Mark Briscoe, he’s coming to knock on his door. MJF said he’d see him in Wembley. MJF walked away. Omega told Ospreay that he’s emotional and beat up. He told him to get some rest and he’d see him on Wednesday. Omega said he loves him and what he has with the Death Riders doesn’t top what they have. He said he’d always be his friend and take care of himself. Mild applause from the fans.

(1) MJF vs. MARK BRISCOE – AEW World Title match

Briscoe came out first. Then MJF. Before the bell, MJF leaned into the camera and said Briscoe is a “white trash hick” who “doesn’t have a prayer.” The bell rang 9 minutes into the hour. Excalibur noted MJF has never kicked out of the Jay Driller and Briscoe had his hand raised the last time they faced off. He said he thinks he scared, but had on a game face.

Briscoe took early control and stomped away on MJF’s head in the corner. MJF landed a sudden piledriver and then ripped off Briscoe’s band aid and bit his forehead. Briscoe made a comeback and climbed to the top rope, but MJF knocked him off balance. He then set up a superplex, but Briscoe blocked it and then hit MJF”s forehead. He then landed a top rope elbowdrop or a two count at 4:30. Schiavone said a good argument can be made that MJF is the best wrestler. (Well, he is the AEW World Champion, after all.) Briscoe flip dove through the ropes and dove onto MJF at ringside. He continued his attack including a flip dive over the top rope onto MJF. He then pulled a table out from under the ring.

Briscoe put MJF on the table and then climbed to the top rope. He made a throat slice gesture, giving MJF time to rise and toss Briscoe onto the ring apron. Schiavone said MJF was playing possum. Nigel pointed out that he’d rather be thrown onto a table instead of the ring apron, as the ring apron is a lot less forgiving. Back from the break 9 minutes into the match, they were exchanging strikes mid-ring. Briscoe landed a top rope elbow on MJF through the table at ringside a minute later. Back in the ring, Briscoe scored a near fall, with MJF draping his boot over the bottom rope to stop the count.

Briscoe set up a Jay Driller, but MJF escaped and then landed several strikes. Briscoe clotheslined MJF as he charged at him. Both were down and slow to get up. Briscoe landed a top rope elbowdrop and then a Jay Driller for a near fall. After a back and forth struggle, MJF managed to land a Heat Seeker for a clean pin.

WINNER: MJF in 19:00 to retain the AEW World Title.

(Keller’s Analysis: A good match that went as it should given their place on the roster and where they’re being booked from here. MJF gave Briscoe enough that it seemed, by the end, that MJF beat someone tough.)

-Afterward, MJF hit Briscoe with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Omega ran out to stop a further attack and MJF fled. Omega addressed MJF from the ring. He said if he somehow cheated his way through Briscoe, he’d hunt him. MJF insisted he didn’t cheat. He said if he has all this energy to use his ring and other objects, he might have the energy to have a match with him tonight. Fans cheered. MJF mouthed, “Is that what you want?” MJF then said he’s kicked out of the “world-famous One-Winged Angel like it was nothing.” He then told Omega he’s a “fraud, not a god, so the answer is no.”

MJF paused, then said he had an idea. He said he’d wrestle him next week on one condition. Omega said, “Name it.” MJF said if he wants to make a deal with the devil, it’s an exploding offer and he has to answer by the end of the night or he’d never get a title shot. He said if he beat Omega, then Omega has to agree to never wrestle for the AEW Title again. He dropped the mic as Omega pondered the idea.

(Keller’s Analysis: They’re building a high-stakes match for next week for sure, and overall Omega is having a good week on the mic in the backstage segment with Ospreay and here. The downside of this stip is that we have to believe as viewers that Tony Khan has no power over MJF defends against and when, so Omega has to agree to some extreme stip to get a title shot.) [c]

-Renee asked MJF if he feels prepared for Omega if he accepts his challenge. MJF first said payback is coming for Andrade, and he won’t know when or where. He said as for being prepared, he listed the wrestlers he has defeated. He looked like he was reading off a list just in case as his eyes were slightly away from the camera as he rattled off a dozen names. He said Omega is 0-2 against him and that won’t change. He said Omega won’t agree to his terms because Omega “is literally gutless.” Ospreay walked up to him and told him to be careful “or you’ll break your neck sucking yourself off like that.” He asked him why he made that stipulation. MJF said it’s because he is the champ and Ospreay is not. He said he will see Ospreay’s “pale ass” in Wembley. MJF walked away as Ospreay and Renee soaked up his words.

-Schiavone stood on the stage and introduced Andrade El Idolo. Andrade said he’s done with the Don Callis Family and now he’s going after MJF and his title. “So I have one question: How you know?” Jake Doyle, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage attacked him from behind as Don Callis cheered them on. They dragged him to the ring and beat on him. Kevin Knight joined in the beatdown. Cage gave him a Drill Claw. Callis then said on the mic he had something important to say. “Get this piece of garbage turncoat out of my sight because Kevin Knight has a match to win.” [c]

-A vignette aired with Mercedes Mone. She was on a port and bragged that she wins titles anywhere she goes. “Dreams don’t win championships; I do.” he held up the Owen Hart Foundation belt and then awkwardly laughed to herself.

(2) KEVIN KNIGHT (w/Don Callis, Jake Doyle, Lance Archer) vs. LIO RUSH – TNT Title match

The bell rang 50 minutes into the hour. Lio had a black bag mid-ring and told Knight to open it. Fans chanted, “Open it!” Knight opened it and pulled out a TNT Title belt painted black. Knight asked, “What’s this?” Rush rolled him up for a two count. He then bit Knight’s leg. The ref warned Lio, but Lio creeped him out enough that the ref just backed away. Excalibur noted that Andrade vs. Cage will take place on Collision on Thursday night. Knight dropped to ringside and looked to Callis for advice. Lio galloped around the ring on all fours and then dove through the ropes onto Knight at ringside. Lio spooked Callis, who fell backwards in response at ringside as they cut to a break. [c]

Knight took over during the break. Fans chanted, “Let’s go Lio!” Lio rallied and scored a two count at 7:00. Doyle pulled Knight to safety by his boot. Lio leaped off the top rope at Doyle, but Doyle caught him and threw him into the ringpost. Knight then landed a leaping clothesline and threw him back into the ring. He then landed a springboard lariat. Knight followed up with a Crash Landing for the clean win.

WINNER: Knight in 9:00 to retain the TNT Title.

[HOUR TWO]

-Darby came out onto the stage after the match. He said he wanted a shot at his TNT Title. He said if he says no, what happened at Forbidden Door will keep happening. He said he started it, so how will he finish it. Knight said he’s tired of dealing with him and his “jackass stunts.” As he was about to offer him a TNT Title match, Callis stopped him. Callis said Darby has been a great wrestler and champion, but at the PPV, with that little stunt he pulled where he almost killed Knight, he crossed the line from wrestler to criminal, and the Don Callis Family doesn’t reward criminal behavior. He said therefore he’ll never get a shot against Knight. Darby said he’d dug his grave. Callis fired back, “You should be in a jail in a cell.” He called him a psychotic criminal. He said he has a family behind him and he’ll protect Knight. They showed “Speedball” Mike Bailey watching from the crowd.

-A clip aired from Collision where Chris Jericho beat JD Drake and then called Schiavone into the ring. He made Schiavone say that Jericho is better than Ciampa as he had Drake in a Lion Tamer. Schiavone played along.

-Renee interviewed Tommaso Ciampa who said Jericho is a bully. He told Renee what to say, but she said she wouldn’t do it. Jericho threw a plastic trash can at Ciampa and then hit him with plastic chairs. He dragged him into the parking lot. Ciampa took control, including the devastation of shoving an empty shopping cart at Jericho, who sold it like he was hit with a wrecking ball. Ciampa tried to use an electric drill against Jericho’s face, but Jericho blocked it. Security intervened and pulled them apart.

(Keller’s Analysis: An electric drill? Is this backyard wrestling with seventh graders or something?) [c]

-Backstage, Renee entered the locker room and asked Omega, who was talking to The Young Bucks, if he had made a decision. Matt Jackson said they need to discuss this more. Nick Jackson said Kenny’s got it. Matt didn’t want to see another Elite member get blocked from World Title matches. Omega said it’s important to him to think this through. He asked what would be left for him if he lost a chance to ever wrestle for the World Title again. He said years ago, he needed help and he went to dark place to get the job done, and he didn’t like who he saw in the mirror. He said if he takes the match, he wants to do it on his own, and it would be “win or lose on my own.” He said he had some thinking to do.

(Keller’s Analysis: That was handled well.)

(3) THE SWIRL (Lee Johnston & Blake Christian w/Jay Lethal) vs. JON MOXLEY (w/Marina Shafir) & WILL OSPREAY

Ospreay made his entrance first. Nigel said Ospreay won on Sunday using a move he said he’d never use again. He called it one of the most magnificent moments he can remember in AEW history. Schiavone said he’d never forget it. Mox made his entrance next. The bell rang 14 minute into the hour. The Swirl attacked Moxley and the ref rewarded the pre-match attack by calling for the bell. Mox made a comeback and hot-tagged in Ospreay, who went on a flurry offense before they cut to a double-box break at 3:00. [c/db]

The Swirl took over again later. Mox fought back with chops to both Johnson and Christian. When Lethal tripped Mox and then gloated, Shafir got in his face and then gave him an exploder suplex. Ospreay eventually tagged in and landed a Cutter on an interfering Christian. Mox gave Johnson a Paradigm Shift and then Ospreay hit a Hidden Blade for the win.

Excalibur said Mox and Ospreay worked together exceedingly well in their first match as a team.

WINNERS: Ospreay & Moxley in 10:00.

Announced Matches & Other Notes

Maika vs. Harley Cameron vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Persephone vs. Kris Statlander vs. Queen Aminata – TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest match

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

AEW DYNAMITE REPORT JULY 1, 2026 SAN DIEGO, CALIF. AT VIEJAS ARENA AIRED ON TBS & HBO MAX REPORT BY WADE KELLER, PWTORCH EDITOR Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGuinness Ring Announcer: Justin Roberts Attendance: WrestleTix […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

6420,6438,18

post-218786","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-aew-dynamite","category-aew-tv-reports","category-tvshowsandevents
["GET
