The match started with some strong mat work, before Oiwa took over and began to work on the knee of Lee. The fight went to the outside for a bit, and then while out there, Lee painted his face and returned to the \u201cold\u201d Jake Lee of the G-1. That was not enough, however, as Oiwa nailed a few dragonscrew legwhips and his TM Clutch for the submission.<\/p>\n<p>With this loss, Jake Lee has been eliminated from the playoffs of the G-1.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Ryohei Oiwa in 12:47.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Fann\u2019s Analysis: Nice opener and I had hoped Jake Lee would stick with the old stuff, but alas it was not to be. Oiwa has done a great job so far in the G-1 and I\u2019m hopeful this will be a springboard for more success afterwards.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(6) SANADA vs KONOSUKE TAKESHITA &#8211; A BLOCK MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match opened with Sanada being tentative in his attack, and that forced Takeshita to play Sanada\u2019s game so to speak. However, Takeshita eventually tired of the slower pace and leveled Sanada with a boot and a Blue Thunder Bomb. After Sanada\u2019s counter and attempted Skull End, Takeshita hit the Hitodenashi Driver, followed by a German suplex. Sanada stopped a Raging Fire attempt and hit a Shining Wizard. Takeshita ate the knee, but then hit the Raging Fire for the win. With this win, Takeshita retains ownership of A Block, and Sanada is eliminated.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2944118931\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>WINNER: Takeshita in 14:02.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Fann\u2019s Analysis: My dear Son Sanada&#x2122; has now been eliminated from the playoffs and that\u2019s a shame, but given the last few years I cannot complain about it. Takeshita is in a great spot with the lead to go into his final match with next to nothing to lose, but expressed he is focused on ending with a W..)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(7) GREAT-O-KHAN vs YOTA TSUJI &#8211; A BLOCK MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match began outside, as O-Khan decided not to wait for the party to start. Tsuji as a result went into the legally started match with a bum arm thanks to chair shots and an exposed buckle attack. Tsuji as the IWGP champ was not deterred however, and soon had an advantage via dives. O-Khan then begged off and used the ref as a shield to prevent a Gene Blaster. This also opened the gate for O-Khan to get back to the arm of Tsuji.<\/p>\n<p>Tsuji then avoided an Eliminator and hit a Silver Lining for a near fall. O-Khan ducked another Gene Blaster and hit the champ in the junk, but couldn\u2019t get a win. Despite the pain, Tsuji hit a gaggle of Gene Blasters for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Tsuji in 13:14.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Fann\u2019s Analysis: Wild match and I\u2019m a fan of the confidence despite any situation he is in that Tsuji exudes. It\u2019s always fun to have the champ in your block, and he\u2019s reminded his opponents at each turn they\u2019re in here with him more than vice versa. O-Khan has found his way to win in ring and I loved the heat he generated in this match.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(8) HIROOKI GOTO vs BOLTIN OLEG &#8211; A BLOCK MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This match started as a Boltin Oleg production &#8211; with the younger talent in complete control. Goto tried to fight back with a clothesline and then an Ushigoroshi and a reversed GTR. After that, Goto used a sleeper to slow the game down, and a PK as a follow up to get the beast that is Boltin on the mat.<\/p>\n<p>Oleg would not stay down, and responded in turn with the Kamikaze and a powerbomb for a long two count. Goto went back to the sleeper well, but Oleg fought out of it. Goto then had to fight to prevent being a victim of a Verdict, and hit a headbutt on Oleg and Goto Nishinki. He then hit the GTR for the win.<\/p>\n<p>While Goto was already eliminated, this win has in turn eliminated his stable-mate Oleg.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Goto in 15:20.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Fann\u2019s Analysis: Goto was in \u201cspoiler\u201d mode in this match, as he was guaranteed to not advance already. Really good match and shows both the growth of Boltin and the continued late brilliance of Goto.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(9) YUTO-ICE vs SHINGO TAKAGI &#8211; A BLOCK MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tonight\u2019s main event featured a really cool matchup of Unbound Co. Pre match, Taichi was shown in the crowd and Oskar was quite a jerk in his description of Taichi not being in the G-1l. Ice started fast and furious, but did a little do much spamming of crowd taunts as if he were in a video game, but in real life, Shingo Takagi had the time to focus on the knee. Takagi then countered a Cruella with a Pumping Bomber and Made in Japan, and Ice withstood the assault. Ice then hit a Cruella and a a sheer drop brainbuster. Takagi then had his turn fighting through pain, and hit a Burning Dragon and yet another Pumping Bomber, but Ice was resilient and kicked out.<\/p>\n<p>The endgame was soon to arrive with headbutts being the main weapon of both men. Ice eventually hooked both of Shingo\u2019s arms, and hit the Heartless for the win.<\/p>\n<p>With this win, both tied at 8 and are out of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Yuto-Icei in 20:25.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Fann\u2019s Analysis: I love Yuto-Ice. This match was one of the matches I looked forward to most in the G-1 and was glad to see it. Shingo remains awesome.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>FINAL THOUGHTS:<\/strong> Solid night that illustrated the stranglehold that Takeshita has on the block. The Block itself has been a journey, and I am eager to see who makes it to the playoffs.
