AT WWE PERFORMANCE CENTER
STREAMED ON TUBI
REPORT BY DAVID MILLER, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Commentators: Blake Howard, Robert StoneRing Announcer: Ryan Katz

Correspondent: Adriana Rizzo

-A new Evolve intro aired, highlighting recent championship winners Nikkita Lyons and Harlem Lewis. Announcers Blake Howard and Robert Stone stood ringside to introduce the show, which was a nice touch.

(1) CHARLIE DEMPSEY vs. ULKA SASAKI

The competitors engaged in some crisp chain wrestling while Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno watched from the VIP Lounge. Sasaki absorbed some stiff chops by Dempsey before they traded armdrags. Neither man backed off an inch as they continued their display of hard-hitting, heavy-handed offense. Sasaki hit a series of forearms and kicks that rocked Dempsey, who returned fire with unique chops to the arm. They traded monkey flips while keeping their hands locked until Sasaki went for a Kimura lock. Dempsey escaped and delivered a German suplex before Sasaki answered with a discus forearm.

Both struggled to their feet as they exchanged strikes. Dempsey won that battle, but Sasaki put his opponent down and locked him into the Rings of Saturn. Dempsey reached the ropes to break the hold and executed a dragon screw legwhip, followed by a belly to back suplex. He nearly scored a bridging pin, but Sasaki kicked out at the last millisecond. They again traded blows until Sasaki cinched in a sleeper. Dempsey reversed it into a bridging belly to back suplex for the pin.

WINNER: Charlie Dempsey at 8:48.

(Miller’s Take: Solid as a rock. Good, old-fashioned, ground-based wrestling match that really delivered. No shenanigans, no drama, no fluff, just no-nonsense wrestling that we don’t see nearly enough of in WWE.)

-After the match, Dempsey offered his hand in a show of sportsmanship that Sasaki respectfully accepted as he raised his opponent’s hand. Classy.

-In the back, Brooks Jensen was watching on the monitor and praising the match he just saw to a couple of unnamed men (trainees, perhaps). He called it a masterpiece and said that’s what everyone aspired to be back in his day. The man on the left pointed out that Jensen was only 23, which he corrected by pointing out that he was 24. He said everyone should wrestle like that instead of all of the flying around. He backed up toward the elevator and pushed the button as he decried wrestlers trying to get by on name recognition, like Elijah Holyfield. As the elevator door opened, Jensen nearly soiled himself when he saw Holyfield standing there and took off like a bat out of hell. Holyfield darted after him but was held back by the two men. [c]

(2) WREN SINCLAIR vs. SLOANE JACOBS

Before the match, Jacobs announced that her best friend, Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons would be seated in the VIP Lounge to watch her beat Sinclair. The Women’s Speed champ took Jacobs down with a snapmare and stayed on top of her opponent. She worked a headlock for a bit, then started working the left arm. Sinclair got a near fall after a facebuster as Lyons sprayed perfume in the air from the VIP Lounge. Jacobs turned the match in her favor and posed on the ropes before they cut to a quick commercial break. [c]

When they returned, Jacobs was twisting Sinclair’s head, then took her down with a crucifix, bounced her head off the top turnbuckle, and flattened her with a clothesline for a two-count. Stone talked of Jacobs trying to work her way back up to NXT as she continued to dominate Sinclair. She worked a hammerlock variation for a bit, but Sinclair fought her way out of it and fired up with a flurry of offense. She hit another facebuster for a near fall, but Jacobs delivered a boot to the head and a twisting elevated suplex off the ropes for another two-count.

Sinclair tripped her up, rolled on top of her, hooked her arms, and lifted her up before Jacobs broke free by making her way to the ropes. She rolled Sinclair up and bridged back for the pin, but Sinclair reversed it and applied the Final Wrench for the tapout victory.

WINNER: Wren Sinclair by submission at 8:16.

(Miller’s Take: Nothing fancy, but another solid match. Jacobs has a good look and a good heel character, so I see no reason why she can’t make it back to NXT. I had forgotten about her being there, but Howard remarked that she had her first match in NXT against Lyons, and was part of a class with Lyons, Sol Ruca, and Roxanne Perez. Sinclair is one of those women that Grayson Waller talked about who is ready for the main roster.)

-Lyons looked exasperated at the outcome as Jacobs rolled out of the ring. Lyons joined Sinclair in the ring and said she may have beaten Sloane, but she can’t beat her. She said since Wendy Choo is still missing, her spirit guides are telling her that nobody is ready for the divine feline. Thea Hail darted out of the entrance and slid into the ring to attack an unsuspecting Lyons. Hail made quick work of Lyons, who scrambled to the outside after being headbutted by Hail. Thea picked up the mic and declared herself the next challenger, then said the title was coming home to Dad.

Brooks Jensen was shown leaving the Performance Center. He seemed in a hurry as he shooed the cameraman out of his way and got into his truck. He freaked out when he saw Elijah Holyfield running at 100 m.p.h. towards him and sped off out of the parking lot and down the street as Holyfield chased him on foot. [c]

-Laynie Luck told P.J. Vasa that she would be cleared in two weeks, become Evolve Champion, and go through the badass of Evolve to do it. Short, but good promo.

-Blake Howard ran down next week’s card, including Valor vs. Holloway, Mathers vs. James, and Hail challenging Lyons.

-Adriana Rizzo was seated in the VIP Lounge with Evolve Champion Harlem Lewis. She asked why he was out here to watch the upcoming triple threat match. He said it felt good to get his first title defense under his belt, but he knew it was going to get harder. He also said he was a sucker for a good fight, which was what he expected out of the main event.

(3) IT’S GAL vs. CAPPUCCINO JONES vs. CHAZZ “STARBOY” HALL – Triple Threat Match

Howard talked about Cap’s new look, which is a little Jimi Hendrix and a little Sly Stone. As expected, there was a lot of fast action among the three of them. With Hall and Jones facedown on the mat, Gal placed one hand on each of their backs and did push-ups. That was classic It’s Gal. Hall dazzled with his unique brand of high-flying; Gal posed after every offensive move, and Jones showed his stuff. Hall executed a backflip over the top and onto his two opponents on the floor. [c]

Hall tripped up Gal and nailed a spectacular twisting standing moonsault but got put down with a Jones dropkick. Gal spun Jones around about ten times before slamming him to the mat. Hall backed both opponents in the corner, then focused on Gal as Lewis looked on from the VIP Lounge approvingly. Hall and Jones attempted to double superplex Gal, but Big Daddy Red shoved them both off and landed a great double dropkick. Jones hit a Decaffeinator on Hall, then climbed the ropes for the Froggy Brew. After landing it and covering Hall, Gal grabbed Jones off of him and pitched him through the ropes, then covered Hall to steal the pin.

WINNER: It’s Gal at 8:18.

(Miller’s Take: If you like great ring psychology and classic storytelling, then this ain’t the match for you. However, it was very exciting and fun to watch. I will admit to almost spraining my fingers trying to keep up with this match in real time. Hall is just a treat to watch every time he climbs through the ropes. Jones has a unique gimmick that won’t wear out it’s welcome, and the in-ring ability to back it up. It’s Gal is pure entertainment but is also a pretty good hand in the ring.)

-Blake Howard exclaimed that we officially have a winning streak, with this being the second match in a row that he’s won. It’s Gal took the mic and exclaimed that Hall and Jones were light work. He turned his attention to Harlem Lewis, who was still seated in the VIP Lounge. He challenged him, called him a dummy, and turned away to brag some more. When he dropped the mic and turned around, a seething Hall and Jones blasted him, then double dropkicked him out of the ring. The teased tension, then smiled, shook hands, and danced to Hall’s music.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Robert Stone seems to have infused a little of his brand with Evolve, as Charlie Dempsey, Wren Sinclair, and Thea Hail were featured prominently. Also, DarkState’s Cutler James was advertised for another appearance next week. Harlem Lewis looks very much at home with the Evolve title slung over his shoulder. I don’t look for his reign to end anytime soon. As It’s Gal would say, see you next week, dummies!

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

WWE EVOLVE TV REPORT AUGUST 12, 2026 ORLANDO, FLA.
