The opening video package shifted to the backstage contract signing segment for the Nemeth-Hardy World Title match for this week\u2019s broadcast. After the opening graphic and theme song, and a shot of the downtown Philadelphia area, Tom Hannifan threw to the entrance of Ricky Sosa.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>RICKY SOSA vs. BRIAN MYERS (w\/ BEAR BRONSON)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FEUD: RICKY SOSA\/LEON SLATER\/FABIAN AICHNER\/KC NAVARRO vs. THE SYSTEM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the continuation of the feud between The System and the crop of babyfaces, Ricky Sosa faced off against Brian Myers. The match went back and forth until Bear Bronson attempted to distract Sosa and the referee which seemed to be leading to a typical System-match distraction\/interference finish before Sosa regained control, until another interference attempt came as Cedric Alexander got involved. Myers was lining up to use Alexander\u2019s X-Division Title on Sosa when Leon Slater grabbed the belt away from Myers, leading to Sosa securing the victory over Myers.<\/p>\n<p>Following the match, Slater cut a promo on Alexander who declined Slater\u2019s challenge for the X-Division Championship at Lockdown. Slater reset the bitch-o-meter before offering \u201canything it takes\u201d to be given a shot at the X-Division Title. Alexander agreed on the condition that Leon Slater\u2019s previous X-Division reign be erased from the TNA recordbook. Slater agreed to the stipulation, making the Alexander-Slater match for Lockdown official.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: Ricky Sosa looked good in the match against Myers while the action was clean, but it eventually devolved into typical System interference nonsense. I was glad that Sosa got the victory though. The post-match promos between Slater-Alexander were a mixed bag. I loved Slater\u2019s mic work but Alexander returned to the over-modulating screaming style promo that could be channel change-inducing to casual viewers.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I remain excited for the in-ring action between these two wrestlers. Alexander demanding Slater\u2019s previous X-Division title reign be stricken from the record books makes less sense than it would have if Slater had defeated Alexander to become the longest reigning X-Division Champion in TNA history, so that\u2019s weird.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2479895894\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Grade: B-<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>BACKSTAGE WITH RICH SWANN &amp; BDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rich Swann &amp; BDE spoke about their mystery partner joining them in a six man tag match against Order 4\u2019s Mustafa Ali, John Skyler, and Agent Zero. Ali told them to pick anyone other than Jason Hotch.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: I like that Order 4 will start mixing it up with some other teams on the roster as they have existed in their own little vortex for the last several months. This felt like a natural time to tease the return of fresh talent to add to the field that can use some depth.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: B<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>AJ FRANCIS BEHIND THE SCENES IN THE STUDIO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FEUD: AJ FRANCIS vs. FRANKIE KAZARIAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In an over-produced cinematic promo. Elijah trapped AJ Francis in his studio, but it appeared that it was only in Francis\u2019 head at the end of the segment.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-658267702\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Breakdown: I guess Elijah has \u2018undead realm\u2019 style supernatural powers now with transportation and telekinesis displayed in this very over-produced segment between Elijah-Francis to build their match taking place at Lockdown. This feud seemed to end at Slammiversary with neither wrestler interacting with each other for several weeks until TNA, seemingly out of nowhere, returned to the Elijah-Francis feud.<\/p>\n<p>Again, I do not feel this is a great use of AJ Francis, as I think he has more value than a mid-card comedy act, but that is how he is being used right now. I predict Francis wins the Lockdown match, and even with the \u201cFinal Encore\u201d moniker being used for the match, I remain unsure if this is the end of the feud. After declaring he would beat Kazarian at Lockdown, Kazarian joined the segment. As Kazarian entered the ring, badmouthing Moose\u2019s family, the interaction became physical as the two began to brawl, being pulled apart by security.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: I find it surprising that TNA has never featured a Moose-Kazarian match as they both feel as if they have been in TNA for decades, but the first-time match will happen at Lockdown. There was not a ton to this segment, as there is not a ton to the feud. There were a couple of well-delivered comedic lines by both wrestlers, but aside from that, it was a dull segment.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: C<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>VIGNETTE BUILDING THE HARDYS-NEMETHS TNA TAG TITLE MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FEUD: THE HARDYS vs. THE NEMETHS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TNA aired a video package that was a compilation of the promo segments between these two brother teams facing off against Lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: The feud and build to the Hardys-Nemeths match at Lockdown has been uninspired, for me at least. The video package was well done, but the feud is as hot as it will be, which is to say, not very hot. I do not sense great fan interest in this feud or match, so hopefully TNA has something strong after this feud is wrapped up.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: C<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ORDER 4 (MUSTAFA ALI, AGENT ZERO, JOHN SKYLER w\/ MILA MOORE &amp; TASHA STEELZ) vs. RICH SWANN &amp; BDE &amp; MYSTERY PARTNER (TREY MIGUEL)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Order 4 storyline has been one of the focal points of TNA television over the last month or so as Jason Hotch defeated Mustafa Ali for the International Championship. Last week, Hotch continued to display his underdog babyface character, while Ali played more into creepy manager vibes.<\/p>\n<p>On Impact this week, Order 4 faced off against the team of Rich Swann &amp; BDE who were joined by a mystery partner who was revealed to be the returning Trey Miguel. Miguel &amp; Ali started the match, but Ali quickly tagged out. The match didn\u2019t go very long, but was a display of good athleticism by Miguel and BDE &amp; Swann. Order 4 attempted to attack the babyfaces after the match but Jason Hotch made the save.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: In what served primarily as a showcase of Trey Miguel\u2019s skills, the match was pretty good, but short. Ali\u2019s struggles continued as he heads into the upcoming rematch against Jason Hotch for the International Title at Lockdown. Miguel being added to the active roster does help with depth issues, so hopefully the creative team can make the most of having another skilled wrestler available.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: B<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>BACKSTAGE WITH KNOCKOUTS WORLD CHAMPION XIA BROOKSIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FEUD: XIA BROOKSIDE vs. ELAYNA BLACK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Xia Brookside defeated Wendy Choo last week, successfully defending the TNA Knockouts World Title in the midst of the ongoing Brookside-Elayna Black feud. Black-Brookside brawled backstage after Black apparently ruined Brookside\u2019s makeup, with Brookside gaining the upper hand, running away after getting the better of Black.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: With the sudden change of character for Elayna Black, the feud with Xia Brookside has been weird. Xia Brookside seems to be growing more confident in the heel role, but Black as a babyface is not really working for me at this time, which was something to be expected.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: C<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>TNA KNOCKOUTS TV TITLE TOURNAMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>M BY ELEGANCE (w\/ ELEGANCE BRAND) vs. INDI HARTWELL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The semi-final round match of the TV Title Tournament between Indi Hartwell-M By Elegance was mostly back and forth action until the brawl between Elayna Black-Xia Brookside spilled from backstage to the ringside area. M By Elegance took advantage of the distraction, pushing Indi into the steps and hitting a moonsault back in the ring for the win. With the victory here, M By Elegance advances to the final of the TV Title Tournament. M By Elegance will face off against the winner of next week\u2019s other semi-final match between Jada Stone-Heather By Elegance.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: From the beginning of the TV Title tournament, I feared that it could serve as a backdrop for other storylines during the tournament matches, which came to fruition throughout the course of the tournament. The outcome of this match secured my failure at predicting the winner as Hartwell joined the field of Elayna Black &amp; Mara Sade, the eliminated favorites.<\/p>\n<p>I could see the Brookside-Black mid-match brawl leading to the finish and Hartwell\u2019s defeat may result in Hartwell being entered into the Knockouts World Title scene, which, if so, then all is well, that ends well, if it is Hartwell. Sorry about that, haha. On Destination Impact, JB feared a Elegance Brand final for the TV Title Tournament; it appears he may have been right to see this coming.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: C<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>HARLEY HUDSON VIDEO PACKAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TNA aired a Harley Hudson video package, telling some of her story and building her character. Toward the end of the vignette, Hudson mentioned Daria Rae\u2019s recent focus on Hudson, and declared that next week\u2019s match against Alisha Edwards was a must-win for Hudson.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: I liked this video package to further build interest in Harley Hudson\u2019s character. She has a lot of potential, and this content was very effective. I am not sure why the push of Hudson had to randomly include Daria Rae wanting to cut Hudson, but I am in support of elevating Hudson and this segment was one of my favorite things on this week\u2019s Impact.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: A<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>EDDIE EDWARDS (w\/ALISHA EDWARDS) vs. KC NAVARRO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>KC Navarro recently joined the ongoing feud between The System and the other babyfaces Ricky Sosa, Fabian Aichner, and Leon Slater. The Navarro-Edwards match started fast with Navarro striking Edwards right at the bell. After the strong start by Navarro, Edwards took control of the match until Navarro hit an impressive tornado DDT.<\/p>\n<p>At this point of the match, the obligatory Alisha Edwards interference backfired, leading to Navarro gaining the victory over Eddie Edwards. As the match ended, Brian Myers &amp; Bear Bronson of The System ran in to attack Navarro who was then saved by Fabian Aichner, Ricky Sosa, and Jada Stone. Santino Marella appeared at the entrance ramp to announce the Lethal Lockdown match for the Lockdown PPV; The System vs. Sosa\/Aichner\/Navarro\/Jada Stone.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: Seemingly every match involving members of The System must feature interference shenanigans but over the last few weeks, I am pleased to see TNA booking the interferences to lead to losses for The System, as opposed to always leading to wins for The System. Jada Stone being added to the field for Lethal Lockdown was random, but as a follow up to the continued elevation of a few young stars, I like Stone in this position. TNA has slow-burn built this match for months, seemingly, and it should be a fun match at the Lockdown PPV.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: B<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>ALLIE SEARCHES FOR ROSEMARY BACKSTAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allie continued to search for her Knockouts Tag Title partner Rosemary in the backstage area this week. The segment featured some cheesy music and a message on a mirror, \u201cthe struggle is real\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: The random disappearance of Rosemary seems to point to a return to Undead Realm nonsense. I was hoping TNA would get away from this sort of content, but they insist on its continued presence on the show, it seems.<\/p>\n<p>Grade: D<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>TNA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FEUD: NEMETHS vs. HARDYS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NIC NEMETH [c] vs. JEFF HARDY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the feud between the Nemeths-Hardys, Nic Nemeth defended the TNA World Title against Jeff Hardy this week. Following the entrance of Hardy, Nemeth entered the Impact Zone, excessive hip thrusts included. Jeff Hardy was introduced as \u201cone-half of the Goats\u201d, rather than The Hardys, which I found interesting. The story of the match was Nemeth working over the leg of Hardy and was pretty slow early. After a series of near-falls, Nemeth went for his finisher, was countered by Jeff Hardy, who ran into Nemeth\u2019s knees on a Swanton Bomb attempt. Following a series of counters, Nemeth gained the pinfall victory over Jeff Hardy after hitting his finisher.<\/p>\n<p>Breakdown: I found it odd, the order in which TNA booked the matches of the Nemeths-Hardy feud, with the tag title match being the culmination of the feud. The TNA Title match was decent, and fortunately did not include any outside interference by Ryan Nemeth or Aimee Garcia.
