There is a reason why Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were allegedly asked to take a pay cut at WWE. The act got stale.<\/p>\n<p>The New Day are Hall of Famers no doubt, but their last few years in WWE left much to be desired. The heel turn on Big E fell flat and was honestly done years too late. I remember watching the turn on Big E live and feeling nothing. I just kept thinking about how they missed the mark on that heel turn and they had just taken too long to do it. It was dead on arrival, in my opinion. I remember reading articles about it and listening to podcasts about it and you could read and listen to people trying to force this as \u201cEpic.\u201d Less than a month after the turn it was already boring and you could tell WWE was already ready to move on.<\/p>\n<p>The New Day for me peaked at \u201cKofiMania.\u201d Kofi winning the World Title in Tampa that night was my favorite moment of that WrestleMania. It was the culmination of all the hard work the New Day had done for years leading up to that moment and you felt like that World Title win was not just Kofi winning the World Title, but Xavier Woods and Big E winning that World Title as well.<\/p>\n<p>I almost wish that the New Day had just stopped at that moment. It would have been a period at the end of the sentence for one of the best factions of all time. Obviously, that couldn\u2019t happen and I feel like the New Day spent the years after that Kofi win kind of just existing. There were more tag title wins, Big E got his own World Title run which was great (WWE totally spoiled it by announcing his Money in the Bank cash in beforehand), but for me nothing would ever<br \/>\ntop KofiMania.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings me to this inevitable AEW run that Kofi and Xavier are going to go on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t need a version of these guys that looks anything like the New Day from their WWE days. I want a totally new version of these guys that we haven\u2019t seen. There is a reason they are not in WWE anymore. New Day is not a hot act, and they haven\u2019t been hot for a while. As far as I\u2019m concerned, they are a stale act, that was allegedly asked to take a pay cut and were released when they allegedly refused.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t walk in the door of AEW and do the same schtick that you were doing for years in WWE. I don\u2019t need a nostalgic run. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage have that corner covered right now. I want New Day to come in and blow me away with an idea they thought of to start this new chapter of their careers. I thought the video they did to announce their release was honestly lame. How many times is the released talent from WWE going to do the \u201cI\u2019m free\u201d video? Oh, you broke out of your chains and are leaving the circus? Well, you\u2019d still be cashing checks at the big top if the net total wasn\u2019t 50 percent less on the 1st and 15th every month.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m getting tired of AEW bringing in the aging WWE guys on their last run. It always starts out hot-ish and then it slowly devolves into a level of sadness, watching these guys having to compete in \u201cstreet fights\u201d to help protect their deteriorating skills in the ring.
