The following is a report originally published here 20 years ago this week\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>ECW Live Event Results<br \/>\nAugust 13, 2006<br \/>\nWhite Plains, N.Y.<br \/>\nReport by Mike Tumi, PWTorch correspondent<\/h3>\n<p>On Sunday Night, ECW returned to the Westchester County Center, a 4,000 seat arena with a long history in White Plains, New York. The original ECW ran this same building in December, 1999, a TNN taping that featured the famous match where Mike Awesome regained the ECW World Title from Masato Tanaka and then clotheslined the holy hell out of Spike Dudley&#8217;s &#8220;girlfriend.&#8221; That event was totally sold out, in advance, with a large turnaway crowd.<\/p>\n<p>This event was near capacity, with a few empty seats in the balcony. But a wild, loud, crazy, vocal &#8220;EC Dub&#8221; crowd. Great television atmosphere. Special appearances by Paul Heyman (most heat of the night), Beulah McGillicitty-Dreamer (big pop), and Joey Styles (big pop) made the event seem very special. I&#8217;ve been reading about the short ECW house shows. This house show went 2:35 including intermission, so they gave us something extra.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Roberts opened the show. People getting used to him. Not too many catcalls. Joey Styles interrupted him to a big pop and took over duties for the night. Joey seemed to have a lot of fun all night long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) The FBI neat Derek Kierkirk &amp; Ryan O&#8217;Reilly. Excellent opening match. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No Trinity (still injured). Niekirk is very good. FBI very popular.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) Balls Mahoney pinned Danny Doring in a match that went 10 minutes too long.<\/strong> Doring came out and cut a promo praising Vince McMahon. Balls came out to a great ovation. But then the match kept dragging on. Doring looks and wrestles like a rookie. Not a good showing for the popular Balls Mahoney, who had everyone chanting &#8220;Balls Balls&#8221; for the first few minutes and then the crowd had enough of the match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) Kevin Thorne (w\/Ariel) pinned Stevie Richards.<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1355909933\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Second bad match in a row. Ariel stole the show here with her ringside antics. Fans chanted &#8220;Mordechai&#8221; at Thorne, and he seemed more concerned with them than his match. Stevie tried, but Thorne did bad here. Pin with the Stunner off the ropes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) Francine defeated Kelly in an Extreme Bikini Contest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The crowd gave Kelly a lot of heat, but she completely outclassed Francine, who looked ok but older. Kelly was Playboy worthy, smoking hot. When the crowd realized they voted Francine the winner, they turned on themselves in a hysterical moment and booed the outcome. Francine and Kelly had a catfight. Styles is screaming into the PA system, &#8220;Catfight! Catfight! Catfight!&#8221; Mike Knox came in and shoved down Francine. Sandman&#8217;s music played. The crowd was going absolutely nuts at this point. Sandman jumped by Test, who ran in. Test and Knox doubleteamed Sandman until Dreamer ran in and the heels scattered. This lead to the next match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) Test &amp; Mike Knox (w\/Kelly) defeated Tommy Dreamer &amp; Sandman in an Extreme Rules Match.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Simply awesome. Dreamer cut a great promo before the match about his father taking him to the County Center, and that his Dad passed away this year. Very emotional. Biggest pop so far of the night, even bigger than Sandman&#8217;s entrance, was when Dreamer announced &#8220;Extreme Rules.&#8221; OK, here&#8217;s the finish. It was old school ECW and just great. Sandman and Knox fighting on the outside, and Sandman throws Kelly in the ring. Sandman and Knox fight to the back like at The Hammerstein Ballroom. Dreamer nails Test, and then has Kelly all to himself, also just like Hammerstein. Dreamer goes for the spanking, but Kelly gives Dreamer a shot to the nuts. Kelly waves to the crowd standing over Dreamer. Beulah runs in. Big pop. Beulah and Kelly catfight. Beulah gets the advantage. Paul Heyman hits the ring and pulls Beulah off Kelly by the hair. Most heated moment of the night. Heyman is scolding Beulah. Crowd is going nuts. Heyman clotheslines Beulah. Dreamer grabs Heyman. Dreamer hooks Heyman for the DDT, screams &#8220;E &#8211; C- Fucking &#8211; W&#8221; (like the famous moment when he finally beat Raven) and DDT&#8217;s Heyman, who was planted into the canvas. That looked painful. The whole building is chanting ECW ECW, when Test nails Dreamer with the big boot, and then hits the Pumphandle slam for the pin. Huge heat on the heels. Test soaks it in. Great pop for that announcement. Paul Heyman finally gets his dream. ECW at the Garden.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-4173583522\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>(6) C.M. Punk pinned Rene Dupree.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great reaction for Punk. A star&#8217;s reaction to say the least. Dupree is not up to wrestling for ECW. Punk locked on the Anaconda Vise. Crowd is chanting &#8220;Tap Tap Tap&#8221; and finally Dupree taps to a big pop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(7) Rob Van Dam pinned Kurt Angle in an excellent match with the crowd chanting for both.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>RVD got, by far, the biggest babyface pop of the night, even bigger than Sandman&#8217;s entrance. &#8220;Let&#8217;s Go Angle&#8221; chants from one side of the arena, &#8220;RVD&#8221; from the other. The crowd had a good time. At the end, Angle ran up the ropes and slipped and appeared to be hurt. RVD missed a 5 Star Frog Splash. Angle went for the Ankle Lock, but RVD spun around and kicked Angle off. RVD wins with a 5 Star that connects. Standing ovation for Angle after the match.<\/p>\n<p>Joey once again reminds us ECW at MSG for the September 11th show. Another pop. Seems to be a very big deal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(8) The Big Show defended the ECW World Title in an Extreme Rules Match against Sabu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once again, the announcement of Extreme Rules got an unbelievable pop. Sabu way over. Show had huge heat. Excellent match. Sabu all over Show. Lots of false finishes. In the end, Show wins but is worse for war. 2 Table Breaks. Sabu stands up after Big Show leaves and gets a huge ovation and &#8220;Sabu&#8221; chant.<\/p>\n<p>Notes: Overall, an excellent show. The two Extreme Rules Matches and the RVD vs. Angle match were all worth the price of admission. Have to say a lot of people very into the fact Punk was on the card, too. ECW still seems to working it all out. I&#8217;m very happy I went.<\/p>\n<p>ECW going to MSG was a big topic of discussion after the show.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>We still invite live event reports in 2026 to be published here at PWTorch!
