AT 2300 ARENA<br \/>\nREPORT BY BRIAN ZILEM, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR<\/h3>\n<p><strong>(1) THE LETHAL TWIST (Blake Christian &amp; Jay Lethal &amp; Lee Johnston) vs. DALTON CASTLE &amp; THE OUTRUNNERS (Truth Magnum &amp; Turbo Floyd) &#8211; ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: The Lethal Twist at 14:05 to capture the ROH Six-Man Tag Titles<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: The opener was very over with the crowd. The title change wasn\u2019t unexpected, as The Lethal Twist have been putting in good work across AEW and ROH.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) DEONNA PURRAZZO vs. STEPH DE LANDER \u2014 ROH Women&#8217;s Pure Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Deonna Purrazzo at 9:07<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: The match was fine. The crowd gave this a lot more praise than I would have expected. Steph grabbing a chair in a Pure match felt like a logical loophole in the rules, especially with Deonna using a closed fist while the official had her back turned.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) RED VELVET vs. MARINA SHAFIR vs. SKYE BLUE vs. ZAYDA STEEL \u2014 ROH Women&#8217;s World TV Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Red Velvet at 10:55<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3494361123\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: Being there in the moment, this was one of my favorite women\u2019s division matches of the year. There was a real sense of urgency, and the entire match felt like a sprint. Matches like this can sometimes fall into the \u201cyour turn, my turn\u201d trap, but this was put together really well and everyone came out of it looking great. Jon Moxley was also fantastic on commentary and added another layer to the match.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) LEE MORIARTY vs. KATSUYORI SHIBATA \u2014 ROH Pure Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Lee Moriarty at 13:15<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: The match was well worked, but the bigger story was Lee Moriarty making history. With the win, Moriarty became the longest-reigning ROH Pure Champion after winning the title from Wheeler Yuta on July 26, 2024.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) EL SKY TEAM (Macara Dorada &amp; Mistico) vs. LA FACCION INGOBERNABLE (Sammy Guevara &amp; The Beast Mortos) vs. THE KINGDOM (Matt Taven &amp; Mike Bennett) vs. TOP FLIGHT (Dante &amp; Darius Martin) \u2014 ROH World Tag Team Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: El Sky Team in 19:15<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: Dorada and M\u00edstico are an extremely talented team. I enjoyed the match, but I thought it might have peaked around the 15-minute mark. The match itself and Daniel Garcia\u2019s post-match promo showed a lot of what got fans behind him in the first place. The limb work throughout the match was awesome, and Garcia did a great job selling it.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(7) LIO RUSH vs. ACTION ANDRETTI \u2014 Fight Without Honor for the ROH World TV Title<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Action Andretti at 23:55 to capture the ROH World TV Title<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: Lio Rush\u2019s tribute to Sabu at the 2300 Arena was a great touch. The involvement of the newly formed OPS was an interesting choice, especially considering Action Andretti has struggled to remain relevant since his upset win over Chris Jericho. Maybe this is finally a chance for Andretti to build some momentum.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(8) BANDIDO vs. NICK WAYNE \u2014 ROH World Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Bandido at 22:40<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: The sequences in this match were off the charts. At one point, they went from a cutter into a poison rana into a crucifix bomb. The timing and ability it takes to pull all of that off together was insane. Nick Wayne losing because he got too cocky made perfect sense for his continued story as a young wrestler who is still progressing. I continue to be blown away by how talented Wayne is at his age. Bandido also remains firmly in the conversation as one of the best wrestlers in AEW.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(9) ATHENA vs. HAZUKI \u2014 ROH Women&#8217;s World Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Athena at 30:20<\/p>\n<p><em>(Brian\u2019s Thoughts: Athena\u2019s ability to bully a smaller opponent while still making their big shots mean something continues to show how good she is. She can dominate Hazuki and then sell like hell when Hazuki catches her with something big. I\u2019ve mentioned this in previous reviews, but Hazuki has something. I\u2019ve enjoyed watching her more with every match I see. I also like that ROH giving Athena the main event almost feels automatic at this point. She\u2019s earned that spot because of the prestige and history she\u2019s built during this title reign.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>FINAL THOUGHTS:<\/strong> Death Before Dishonor was a really enjoyable show to experience live. What stood out to me was how much different stuff worked. The women\u2019s four-way was one of my favorite women\u2019s division matches of the year, Garcia and Priest had me far more invested than I expected going in, and Bandido and Nick Wayne were ridiculous together. Then you have Athena, who at this point feels completely at home closing a major ROH show.<\/p>\n<p>I also want to wish my teammate and fellow PWTorch colleague Sean Radican a happy birthday.
