I always enjoyed seeing him on AEW television and from all accounts he was a great person. I suggest listening to PW Torch&#8217;s Rich Fann on the Flagship podcast this week for a very in-depth conversation on the man. It was a fascinating listen.<\/p>\n<p>Now onto this week&#8217;s Dynamite, which is a tribute show to Rebel and will benefit ALS research. This is a great gesture from AEW and another reason why it is my wrestling show of choice. I expect this show to give Tanea Brooks a night to remember and for it to be filled with a lot of emotion. The video AEW posted on social media this week of Rebel&#8217;s message to the fans was extremely touching and it&#8217;s something everyone should check out.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>HITS<\/h2>\n<p><strong>THE WAITING ROOM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was cheesy, but it was supposed to be. Was it compelling? Not really. That was not the point. The point was to pay homage to the past and showcase Rebel on her night. It did not overstay its welcome and set up the match later in the night. All in all, it was exactly what it needed to be.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REBEL&#8217;S MOMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sure, it was nice to see Britt Baker back in the ring after two years, but the story of that trios match was Rebel coming down to the ring and playing a part in the finish and the emotions were just oozing off the screen. If that didn&#8217;t bring a tear to your eye, check your pulse. Seeing her have that moment filled me with both joy and sadness and I&#8217;m very glad they played an extended version of the video I mentioned above. It was very well done and a fitting tribute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SWERVE &amp; NEW LEVEL VS. CONGLOMERATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was just a cool match. We have the pleasure over the next few weeks to months to see Austin Creed and Kofi go up against fresh opponents. It was cool to see Orange Cassidy and Kofi have a little fun in the ring to start the match. With Creed and Kyle O&#8217;Reilly, it was more hard-hitting and violent. It&#8217;s just really great to see these guys look engaged and happy to be in AEW.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2202091651\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Not all of the moves were smooth as they are all getting to know each other&#8217;s styles, but it had the crowd engaged from the start and it was a nice statement for Creed to pin Cassidy for the win.<\/p>\n<p>It was also nice to see Swerve wearing an armband for Andy Williams as many other wrestlers did the rest of the night.<\/p>\n<p>The post-match stuff with Ricochet was pretty bad, but it was cool seeing Brody King, Bandido and Hangman Page come out and tease a match between them and Swerve\/New Level. That would certainly be a good one to book for All Out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WILL OSPREAY VS. DAVID FINLAY AND FACE TO FACE WITH MOXLEY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coming off Andrade&#8217;s win, the World Champion came out for the save and immediately got to work against his old pal Finlay. It was a nice touch bringing Jon Moxley out to join the commentary table so they could build off of the final moments of last week&#8217;s Dynamite.<\/p>\n<p>Ospreay put Finlay away with a Styles Clash after a very enjoyable match. Mox was solid on commentary building up Ospreay and his victory at Wembley.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the show, Ospreay was stellar in his backstage interaction with Moxley. First, you saw the beginnings of what I hope is Gabe Kidd&#8217;s takeover of the Death Riders. After that, Ospreay laid out his feelings in a strong, concise and confident way. Mox was at his best being cool and collected, until a little tantrum after Ospreay left. It was a great start of a build to All Out&#8217;s main event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUICK HITS<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-901527089\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Good work by Excalibur honoring Andy Williams. That could not have been easy. As stated above, you could tell how much he was loved and appreciated by his co-workers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Steven Borden definitely has the look of a guy who could become a star. He is very athletic and while inexperienced, he did not look out of place in the ring, and does seem to have the wrestling skills that will continue to improve over time. Pairing him with Darby Allin is smart and his first Dynamite match was something he can be very proud of.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Kevin Knight is so good in the ring. Nearly every move flows perfectly and he is just so smooth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The main event tables match was everything you would have expected it to be. Four amazing wrestlers going toe to toe with wild spots. I did not give this a full hit because I didn&#8217;t like the interference finish. It was set up for her to play that role in a feud with Mercedes Mone and she was beginning to get the crowd behind her. However, having her put down Willow Nightingale turned the crowd back against her and hurt her chances to stand out. As much as I have come around on Willow, it might have been better for her to go away for a little bit to heal and allow us to see if Thekla can make a difference as a babyface character.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If AEW wants Steven Borden to become his own man, politely ask Tony Schiavone not to announce his presence as &#8220;Steeeeeeven.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Please check out the weekly free podcast I&#8217;m part of, &#8220;The All Elite Conversation Club&#8221; that drops on Fridays on the PWTorch Dailycast lineup.
