The following is a report originally published here 25 years ago this week\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>WCW LIVE EVENT REPORT<br \/>\nSEPTEMBER 7, 1991<br \/>\nOAKLAND, CALIF. AT KAISER AUDITORIUM<br \/>\nREPORT BY JOSEPH PERRY, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><em>Attendance: Estimated 350.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(1) P.N. NEWS &amp; BIG JOSH defeated MIKE GRAHAM &amp; JONNIE B. BADD at 9:11. &#8220;I must have turned heel since losing the Light Heavyweight semi-final tournament bout at the Clash.&#8221; Graham held Josh, who ducked when Badd threw a punch. Graham wound up on the receiving end and News pinned him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">During the entrances, Gary Capetta offered News the microphone to rap, but News blew it off unceremoniously. Badd got a strong babyface pop throughout the match. Teddy Long tried hard to keep the crowd (I use that term loosely) interested. {1\/4*}<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(2) Z-MAN (Tom Zenk) wrestled TERRENCE TAYLOR in a lackluster bout. At one point someone yelled &#8220;boring&#8221; and Taylor shot back, &#8220;Life&#8217;s boring, that&#8217;s why you&#8217;re here.&#8221; This thankfully turned into a tag match with Richard Morton &amp; Taylor against Beautiful Bobby &amp; Z-Man five minutes in. The heels took a three-minute powder before the action restarted. Zenk pinned Morton after a superkick at 16:14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">WCW used the &#8220;let&#8217;s make this a tag match!&#8221; gimmick last time they were in town. Eaton was his usual terrific self and Morton &amp; Taylor&#8217;s comedy antics and turn-teasing were fun. {**} On his way back to the dressing room, Taylor told an overweight fan, &#8220;Try to eat some salad.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(3) DUSTIN RHODES pinned THE DIAMOND STUD (Scott Hall) with a roll-up in 11:33. Neither man did anything interesting. {DUD}<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(4) THE ENFORCERS beat THE PATRIOTS when Chip had Arn Anderson rolled up, Larry Zbyszko clotheslined Chip behind the referee&#8217;s back and Arn rolled Chip for the pin at 13:52. No mention was made as to whether either of the titles were on the line. Arn was great and carried the whole match. {**1\/4}<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3244124423\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(5) STING beat OZ (Kevin Nash) in 9:07. Nothing but missed moves and restholds. The guy behind me said, &#8220;We&#8217;ll take the Brooklyn Brawler over this guy!&#8221; in reference to Oz. {-*}<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(6) RICK STEINER won via DQ over &#8220;STUNNING&#8221; STEVE AUSTIN in the first match of the night where crowd heat was consistent and not just popping for sporadic high spots. Steiner took great bumps, including one where he flew over the top rope and landed solidly on the floor. Rick started what looked to be a belly-to-back suplex, but he just threw Austin over his head for the move of the night. Terrible finish when Lady Blossom interfered for the DQ. {**3\/4}<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(7) RON SIMMONS &amp; BARRY WINDHAM won by DQ over LEX LUGER &amp; MR. HUGHES when Harley Race interfered at 12:02. Race introduced Lex as &#8220;The Total Faction.&#8221; All four men worked hard the whole time and kept the heat up. I would have given it more stars except for the screw-job finish twice in a row. {**3\/4}<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">(8) EL GIGANTE pinned ONE MAN GANG after ramming him into the cage at 6:08. Awful, with no heat whatsoever.
