AT RWA BULLPEN<br \/>\nREPORT BY BRIAN ZILEM, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR<\/h3>\n<p>Garrett &amp; Steven Borden, the sons of Sting, appear set to team together following an angle Sunday night at Rhodes Wrestling Association\u2019s 80s Fever 2.<\/p>\n<p>I attended the show at the RWA Bullpen in Leander, Tex., where Garrett picked up another victory as he continues through the early stages of his wrestling career.<\/p>\n<p>The match barely lasted a minute and was essentially a squash designed to get Garrett a quick win and move into the post-match angle. There wasn\u2019t much to evaluate from an in-ring standpoint, but Garrett looks to be in fantastic shape.<\/p>\n<p>When I covered his debut against Brandon Barretta at RWA\u2019s Final Reckoning in May, his physical presence was one of the first things that stood out to me, along with the fact that he didn\u2019t seem like he was simply trying to copy his father. Both of those things still stood out Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>This time, though, the bigger story came after the bell.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett was attacked by The 8th Day (Father Oday &amp; Timur the Great), who had wrestled earlier on the 80s Fever 2 card. Steven Borden then came to the ring to make the save for his brother.<\/p>\n<p>After The 8th Day retreated, Garrett stood over the ropes and issued the challenge directly to them: face Garrett and Steven at RWA\u2019s anniversary show, Texas Fall Fury, on Nov. 8.<\/p>\n<p>If the match takes place as announced, it appears it would mark Garrett and Steven\u2019s first official tag team match together.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2288429567\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>The brothers have shared a ring before. Both were involved in Sting\u2019s retirement match at AEW Revolution in March 2024, with Garrett portraying the Surfer version of Sting and Steven representing the Wolfpac version of their father.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, both have started carving out their own paths in wrestling. Steven began wrestling professionally first, while Garrett debuted earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve now had the opportunity to watch both brothers at different stages of their development. Sunday\u2019s match was far too short to make any sweeping judgments about how much Garrett has progressed since May. It wasn\u2019t designed for that. It was designed to get to the angle, and the angle was easily the biggest development of the night.<\/p>\n<p>The 8th Day also makes sense as the opponent. Father Oday and Timur the Great are an established RWA team and were the RWA Tag Team Champions when Garrett debuted at Final Reckoning in May.<\/p>\n<p>Now they appear positioned to provide the first test for Garrett and Steven as a team.<\/p>\n<p>I went into Sunday night expecting a casual night of watching independent wrestling on the opening Sunday of the NFL season. Instead, I ended up seeing what could be a pretty significant moment in the early wrestling careers of Garrett and Steven Borden.<\/p>\n<p>Not a bad way to spend a Sunday night, and another reminder of why wrestling fans should still attend their local independent shows.
