Iguana wowed the crowd with a cartwheel armdrag, followed by a multi-revolution Iguanarana. Histeria entered the ring next, and joined his friend, Negro, in beating on Iguana. JBL popped when Mascarita Sagrada made his ring entrance. The famed mini went to work on Negro and Histeria. Mr. Iguana whipped them with La Yesca, then gave the lizard to Sagrada, who followed suit. Taurus entered next and targeted Mr. Iguana. With all three members of Los Vipers in the ring, Iguana got thumped on until Sagrada got their attention. Los Vipers beat on Sagrada until El Fiscal made his way to the ring. Fiscal went to work on Los Vipers and subsequently dumped Negro over the top rope.

ELIMINATED: Abismo Negro, by El Fiscal, at 6:50.

Fiscal clotheslined Histeria and Taurus over the top rope, but they hung on. Mecha Wolf sprayed mist in Dinamico’s face, which allowed Mesias to get a pin on him.

ELIMINATED: Dinamico, by El Mesias, at 14:54.

Texano Jr. was the next entrant. He faced off against El Mesias and scored a near-fall before Omos was introduced as the next entrant. Everyone in the ring stopped fighting and reacted to the looming danger that lied ahead of them. Omos quickly swatted away everyone but Mascarita Sagrada who glared at the kneecaps of Omos, then looked up at him defiantly. Sagrada stomped on his toes and began kicking at him furiously as Omos chuckled. He picked up Sagrada for a chokeslam, but the Nigerian colossus was stopped when everyone ganged up on him. He stood straight and threw them all off, then easily chucked Texano and Mesias over the top rope, pinned Mecha Wolf, and clotheslined La Parka over the top.

ELIMINATED: El Texano, El Mesias, Mecha Wolf, and La Parka, by Omos, at 20:30.

After eliminatling La Parka, Omos mocked his dance in the ring. This left only Mascarita Sagrada and Mr. Iguana in the ring with the newly reinstated giant. The next participant was an injured Chris Carter. Omos looked at him like he couldn’t believe his eyes. Carter, ribs heavily taped, climbed to the top turnbuckle and flew off at Omos, who easily caught him, pressed him, and threw him to the floor on top of the wrestlers he’d already eliminated.

ELIMINATED: Chris Carter, by Omos, at 22:38.

The final entrant of the Copa was Nino Hamburguesa, who got a huge crowd reaction. Hamburguesa managed to rock Omos with a number of splashes in the corner before he shook it off, then eliminated Iguana and Sagrada.

ELIMINATED: Mr. Iguana and Mascarita Sagrada, by Omos, at 24:00

The momentum of Sagrada’s legdrop while Omos was leaned over the top rope carried the big man over the top, but he hung on precariously. As he climbed back to his feet on the apron, Hamburguesa charged at him with a couple of shoulder blocks in an attempt to knock him to the floor, but Omos caught him by the throat on the third attempt, stepped over the top rope and into the ring, then dumped him onto the floor for the victory

WINNER: Omos, by eliminating Nino Hamburguesa, at 24:33.

(Miller’s Take: Well, Omos didn’t win his reinstatement match on Night One just to come up short in a match like this, so no big surprise once we saw him lumber down the aisle. This was entertaining, and a good way to open Night Two.) [c]

-The AAA roster was shown interacting with fans in a meet and greet setting earlier today.

-A video was shown of the events leading up to La Catalina’s challenge to Flammer’s title tonight.

(2) FLAMMER (c) vs. LA CATALINA – AAA Reina de Reinas Championship Match

Lilian Garcia made the official ring introductions in Spanish. Flammer escaped and early headlock with a good, old-fashioned yank of the hair. Catalina, undeterred, fired back at the champ. They took the fight to the floor, with Flammer throwing Catalina into the ring steps, then rolling her back in the ring. She chopped Catalina hard while holding her by the hair, then locked in a chicken wing. La Catalina struggled to her feet, but Flammer cinched in a chokehold that Catalina broke by suplexing her.

A glancing blow with a hip attack knocked Flammer to the floor, where Catalina followed up with a spear. The champ came back to pitch Catalina over the barricade, but she climbed up on top of the barricade and flew off with a cross body to the floor. Back in the ring, Catalina scored a two-count. She got another near fall after a Gory bomb, which visibly frustrated her. A determined Flammer grabbed Catalina by the arm and cut loose with some vicious chops. The challenger rose to her feet and traded blows with Flammer, then hit another spear for a near fall.

Catalina backed Flammer into the corner and threw some punches, but Tlammer lifted her into the air and drove her down with a running powerbomb. After Catalina avoided a swanton, she delivered a top rope splash for a two count. Flammer returned fire with a codebreaker, followed by an absolutely devastating dropkick that snapped Catalina’s head back violently before she tumbled to the floor. Flammer rolled her back into the ring, then looked toward the ring entrance, presumably expecting La Hiedra to come out to assist her. When nobody came out, she re-entered the ring and climbed the ropes. Catalina attempted a springboard maneuver, but didn’t seem to be positioned right, then hopped back down to the mat and slammed Flammer off the ropes. She landed a hip attack, and followed that up with a running knee to score the pin.

WINNER: La Catalina at 10:59 to become the new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion.

(Miller’s Take: Flammer’s record-setting reign of 1,128 days came to an end with La Catalina’s victory. Good, intense action throughout the match with just one minor miscue. The crowd seemed very pleased to see La Catalina take the victory and the title. JBL exclaimed that history was made tonight.)

-After the match, pyro exploded as the new champion celebrated in the ring. Corey Graves pointed out that La Catalina was the second Chilean born wrestler to win a major title in 24 hours, with Stephanie Vaquer taking the World title off Liv Morgan at a house show in Chile the previous night. After the referee called for the bell, Psycho found a kendo stick and whacked Carnicero with it until the big man grabbed the stick and broke it over his knee. Psycho didn’t back down, but got a trash can folded over his head before Carnicero picked up a chair and wore the clown out with it. He tried a sit down splash, but Psycho lifted the chair up sideways as Carnicero straddled it.

That gave Psycho a respite, and he took advantage of it by setting up a table in the ring. He cracked Carnicero with a chair, then splashed him through a table. He struggled to cover him, which gave Carnicero the time needed to kick out before three. Both men slugged it out mid-ring on their knees. Psycho fired up and ripped his face off, but got caught by Carnicero, who tied the clown up in the ropes. He slid out of the ring and pulled out a toolbox, which he emptied before throwing it in the ring. Just as he was about to hit Psycho, Pagano ran out with a kendo stick to a huge ovation from the crowd. He teased hitting Carnicero with it, then backed off and motioned for Carnicero to go for it. He obliged by blasting Psycho with the toolbox, then covered him for the three-count.

WINNER: El Carnicero at 9:00.

(Miller’s Take: The story coming out of this match was obviously the return of Pagano, who promptly turned on his former friend and partner, allowing Carnicero to take the easy victory.)

-After the match, Pagano brushed past El Carnicero as he handed him the kendo stick, which he splintered over a fallen Psycho Clown while Pagano watched. The two heels stood over Psycho Clown’s fallen body as Pagano’s music played.

-El Grande Americano was shown warming up, while Dominik Mysterio and his cheesy 1970s-era moustache shined up his belt. [c]

-In the back, Dorian Roldan talked up his charges, Omos and Dominik. Roldan exclaimed that he would be the one to induct Marisela Pena into the Hall of Fame. That’s an interesting prospect, for sure.

-A recovering Octagon Jr. was shown in the crowd before they showed highlights of the incredible triple threat match at Ola de Calor that included Nathan Frazer, Mini Vikingo, and Jack Cartwheel. As a result of a time limit draw, Rey Fenix announced he would take on all three of them at Triplemania.

(4) REY FENIX (c) vs. JACK CARTWHEEL vs. NATHAN FRAZER vs. MINI VIKINGO – AAA World Cruiserweight Fatal 4-Way Match

The champion shook hands with his three opponents before the bell. Multiple lightning-fast roll-ups happened as the match started. Vikingo, Cartwheel, and Fenix all kipped up at the same time. What followed was nearly indescribably exciting, spectacular aerial maneuvers from all four men. Vikingo landed a twisting plancha off the top onto Cartwheel and Frazer on the floor. He followed that up with a crisp poisonrana on Fenix for a two-count.

As Vikingo climbed the ropes, Fenix knocked him off balance, then hit a springboard double cutter on Frazer and Cartwheel. He turned his attention to Vikingo with a moonsault to the floor. A double springboard moonsault to Frazer earned the champ another near fall. Frazer managed to execute a Spanish Fly on Fenix for a near fall. He then hit suicide dives onto all three of his opponents on the floor. As Frazer climbed the ropes, Fenix jumped up with him to deliver a German suplex that turned Frazer all the way over onto his stomach.

Cartwheel lived up to his name by carwheeling all over the ring to avoid Frazer’s offense, but got pushed off the top rope by Vikingo, who landed a crucifix drover on the champ for a two-count. Multiple pin attempts followed as the crowd chanted “Esto es lucha” (this is wrestling).

All combatants traded kicks mid-ring and laid each other out. Fenix hit a huge kick to Cartwheel and hit a Mexican muscle buster, but the pin was broken up by Vikingo with a shooting star press. Fenix went for the Mexican muscle buster on Vikingo from the second rope, but Frazer slipped in to powerbomb both of them to the mat. He and Cartwheel traded wild blows mid-ring. As Frazer charged Cartwheel, he got launched high into the air and into the corner. Vikingo landed a high impact move on Cartwheel, but got scooped up by Fenix, who promptly delivered a Mexian muscle buster to the teenaged sensation for the win.

WINNER: Rey Fenix at 15:53 to retain the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.

(Miller’s Take: I missed about two-thirds of this match because it never slowed down from 100 m.p.h. Nothing I can write about this match will come close to doing it justice, so I just highly recommend watching it to truly appreciate how spectacular this was. Four of the best high-flyers in the world put on a lucha clinic during this 15 minute match. You have to see it to believe it.)

-In the back, Los Perros del Mal approached the sound technician and ordered him to play their music. The Trios Champions made their way to the ring and completely decimated the four exhausted participants of the previous match, then posed in all four corners as the crowd went nuts over them. [c]

-AAA Tag Team Champions The War Raiders made their way to the ring and awaited their unknown challengers. The Wagner Brothers answered the challenge, much to the delight of the crowd.

(5) THE WAR RAIDERS (Erik & Ivar) (c) vs. THE WAGNER BROTHERS (El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno) – AAA World Tag Team Championship Match

Erik started the match against Wagner. He quickly tagged Ivar, who didn’t fare well against the brothers until the fight went to the outside, where Ivar splashed Wagner against the barricade. The champs started clubbering Wagner in an attempt to keep him down. Erik and Wagner put each other down, then made a double tag. Galeno utilized his power game to steamroll over the Raiders for a bit until Ivar executed an unbelievable moonsault that squished Galeno.

The Raiders landed a double powerbomb on Wagner, but the Aztec giant broke up a pin attempt, then launched his 285 pound body over the top rope with an incredibly impressive cannonball onto the champs. Back in the ring, Wagner executed a Wagner driver, which Galeno followed with a frog splash off the top for the victory.

WINNERS: The Wagner Brothers at 6:37 to capture the AAA Tag Team Championship.

(Miller’s Take: That was a crowd-pleaser, for sure. The Wagner Brothers are loved in AAA, and the crowd voiced their approval at the outcome. El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. Is no lightweight, but his brother is absolutely massive, yet they can both fly around the ring like cruiserweights. Ivar, of course, also displayed a defiance of gravity with that beautiful moonsault. Ultimately, the surprise challengers ended the title reign of The War Raiders, but I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of them.) [c]

[HOUR THREE]

-A video recap aired of the fractured relationship between Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano, who started out as friends, going so far as to call themselves the New Los Gringos Locos in honor of the legendary team of Eddie Guerrero & Art Barr. They showed footage of the match for custody of Dominik between Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, Dom’s early teaming with his father, and his betrayal. They also focused on the rise of El Grande Americano to the insane popularity he now has among the Mexican people. Very good video package to introduce the main event.

(6) DOMINIK MYSTERIO (w/Dorian Roldan) vs. EL GRANDE AMERICANO – AAA Mega Championship No-Disqualification Match

After seeing the crowd reaction to El Grande Americano’s entrance, I feel like the 18,000 fans present for this event may riot if he doesn’t win. Mysterio’s cheesy moustache bobbed up and down as he furiously chomped on his gum as he strode to the ring with Dorian Roldan. Jesus Zuniga made the official ring introductions.

At the bell, Americano launched a dropkick at Mysterio that nearly knocked him out of the ring. The fight quickly went to the floor with Americano bouncing Mysterio all over the place. It was announced earlier in the show that his match would be a no-DQ match, and the participants took full advantage of that stipulation by continuing to brawl all over the floor. Americano pulled the steps apart, but got distracted by Roldan, which allowed Mysterio to turn the tide of the match in his favor. Back in the ring, Dirty Dom went to work on Americano with a few stiff chair shots to the back.

A plucky Americano fought back until Dom brought the chair back into play, smashing his challenger in the back with it a few more times. Roldan took off his belt and handed it to Dom, who viciously whipped Americano with it. Visible welts rose on the back of Americano, but he rose to his feet and rained down fists on Dom in the corner. Americano grabbed the belt and began giving it back to Mysterio, whipping him mercilessly with it. He landed a rolling senton, followed by a stiff kick for a near fall.

Americano wrapped the belt around Dom’s mouth and leaned back with it. Roldan distracted the referee while Judgement Day cohort J.D. McDonagh hopped up on the ring apron to distract Americano. Mysterio landed a 619 on the challenger, but Rayo & Bravo Americano rushed to the ring to beat on McDonagh. The three fought their way up the ramp as security tried to separate them. Bravo soon disappeared from the fray, but quickly re-emerged on top of the LED screen above the ring entrance. In a replay of what happened during the mask vs. mask match earlier this year, Bravo leaped from approximately 20 feet in the air with a breathtaking cross body that took out everybody.

Meanwhile, in the ring, American took Dom to the mat for a very believable near fall. Back on the ramp, Rayo & Bravo rose to their feet and began to make their way to the ring, but Omos walked up behind them and decimated them. Americano hit a suicide dive onto Omos, but simply bounced off him. The Nigerian colossus tried to chokeslam Americano through the announce desk, but Americano raked his eyes, then planted his foot firmly between the legs of Omos. He picked up a chair and wore out Omos with it, much to the delight of the crowd. Omos recovered enough to charge at Americano, who moved out of the way and allowed Omos to crash through the barrier.

Back in the ring, Americano connected with a flying headbutt for a very close two-count. The challenger climbed to the top, where Mysterio met him with some punches before being shoved to the mat. As Americano climbed to the top, Liv Morgan ran to ringside and tripped him up. Dom dropkicked Americano, executed a 619, and followed that up with a frog splash for an incredibly close near fall. Both Liv and Dom looked astonished at the resiliency of Americano. Dom rose to his feet, clutching his ribs. He kicked at Americano, who rose up, shoved him off, and went for another flying headbutt. Dom moved out of the way, and Americano connected with the referee.

As Americano tried to revive the referee, Liv handed the belt to Dom, who smashed his opponent in the back of the head with it. He missed with a second frog splash, then got nailed with a flying headbutt. With the original referee still down, AAA GM Rey Mysterio, sporting a neck brace and a referee shirt, ran to the ring and made the three count.

WINNER: El Grande Americano at 19:29 to become the new AAA Mega Champion.

(Miller’s Take: AAA continues to provide contenders for Match of the Year, and this was no exception. Yes, there was a lot of outside shenanigans, but it all made sense and added to the drama rather than took away from it. This was a spectacular main event to end a memorable Triplemania.)

-After the match, pyro exploded as El Grande Americano celebrated his emotional title victory. A Mariachi band lined the ramp and played Cielito Lindo as the happy crowd sang along.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall, both nights of Triplemania were a rousing success, filled with exciting matches, drama, and popular title changes. Everything came full-circle, with Omos being reinstated and winning the Copa Bardahl, but failing to help his partner in crime keep his title. Rey Mysterio exacted his revenge by making the three-count on his son, and sent the crowd home happy. The Cruiserweight match was a sight to behold. The fans were highly engaged in every match. If you like high-flying lucha libre, dramatic storylines, and hard-hitting action, Triplemania served it up on a silver platter.
