Highlights from Penta&#8217;s number one contender&#8217;s match caught the audience up on how we got to Roman versus Penta. After the highlights, Roman was shown getting off his plane and into his transport van. Penta was shown riding a horse through a supportive crowd.<\/p>\n<p>-AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio kicked off the show by coming down to the ring. Mysterio welcomed the crowd to Monday Night Raw. Mysterio spoke, but most of the promo was in Spanish, which is not my strong suit. Mysterio brought up Stephanie Vaquer&#8217;s win over Liv Morgan in her home nation of Chile. Quick highlights from the match aired. Vaquer came to the ring with a thunderous crowd reaction.<\/p>\n<p>-The crowd sang to her as she began to speak. Stephanie said winning the title was the joy of her life. Liv Morgan interrupted the promo by coming to the ring with Dominik Mysterio. Morgan called Stephanie a hypocrite. Morgan entered the ring and called herself the greatest Women&#8217;s Champion of all time. Dominik got the microphone which caused a crazy amount of booing from the crowd. Rey brought up how Dominik lost his AAA Mega Championship to El Grande Americano as the highlights played. Dominik challenged Rey to a mixed tag team match. Pearce told Dominik that Rey wasn&#8217;t medically cleared. El Grande Americano came out to the ring. I wasn\u2019t able to make out what El Grande said since it was in Spanish, but it sounded like a match was just made. [c]<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) EL GRANDE AMERICANO &amp; STEPHANIE VAQUER (w\/Rey Mysterio) vs. DOMINIK MYSTERIO &amp; LIV MORGAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match started with El Grande working over Dominik in the corner. Dominik tagged in Liv who went after Americano but was stopped when Vaquer landed a crossbody. Dominik manipulated the ropes as Stephanie was running into them, causing her to fall out of the ring. Liv started landing punches as Vaquer was laid out on the announcers&#8217; table. Back in the ring, Liv started stomping Vaquer in the corner. A pin attempt from Liv, but only a two count. Morgan landed the Three Amigos and gave a little Eddie Guerrero shimmy. Stephanie stopped the onslaught with a dropkick. Tags were made and Americano started working over Dominik. A blockbuster from El Grande led to another pin attempt. Liv distracted Americano, giving Dominik the advantage. [c]<\/p>\n<p>El Grande had the upper hand when they got back from commercial, landing a suplex on Dom. Morgan knocked Stephanie off the apron, preventing El Grande from making the tag. Tags were made as Stephanie worked over Morgan. Vaquer pulled off the Devil&#8217;s Kiss and a running meteora. Dominik got in the ring to distract Stephanie, causing Liv to hit a backstabber. El Grande had Dominik set up for the 619, but Liv intervened. Stephanie kicked Liv onto Dom and proceeded to hit the double 619 with Rey&#8217;s approval. Vaquer and Americano went up to the top ropes, but The Judgment Day came out from the crowd. Roxanne and Raquel attacked Stephanie. JD threw a punch at Rey, but Rey countered. Dominik grabbed Rey by the neck brace and dragged him into the ring. Americano made the save, but as he went for the flying headbutt on Dom, JD landed a headbutt of his own. McDonagh landed a moonsault as Liv landed the Oblivion. Dominik hit the Frog Splash on Rey as The Judgment Day stood tall over them.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1274978842\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>WINNERS: Americano &amp; Vaquer in 13:00 via DQ.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Robert\u2019s Recap: I\u2019m not a fan of Mixed Tag matches as I feel they just come across as hokey. However, this one was purely entertaining, and the crowd loved it. This worked for me strictly because it intersected two storylines into one, which made the match feel authentic. The Judgment Day getting involved probably wasn\u2019t needed as it would\u2019ve been nice to see Liv eat another pin from Stephanie, but it\u2019s The Judgment Day, so I wasn&#8217;t really surprised. This was the best start to a Raw in a long time.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Tessitore introduced the Spanish announcers.<\/p>\n<p>-Tessitore and Graves discussed The Vision becoming whole again. Highlights from the past few weeks of The Vision played.<\/p>\n<p>-WWE aired an advertisement for the WWE 2K27 video game cover athlete, which is only available to WWE Club members.<\/p>\n<p>-Je\u2019Von Evans came out to the ring for the Money in the Bank qualifying match. [c]<\/p>\n<p>-Tessitore plugged season three of WWE Unreal.<\/p>\n<p>-Dragon Lee met up with Penta backstage. I assumed he wished him good luck in his match tonight.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1552988440\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>(2) AUSTIN THEORY (w\/Maxxine Dupri) vs. BIG CASS vs. JE\u2019VON EVANS \u2013 Money in the Bank qualifying match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Theory and Maxxine were in the ring after the backstage segment. Big Cass made his way to the ring. All three men stood in the ring as Theory tricked Evans into working with him to take on Cass. Theory blindsided Evans and went after Cass. Cass had Evans up for a chokeslam but Evans got into the powerbomb position and went over the ropes with Cass. Evans dodged Theory, throwing him over the barricade. Evans attempted the Young OG OTB but was caught by Cass and thrown into Theory. [c]<\/p>\n<p>Theory pulled off an impressive rack bomb with Cass on his shoulders. As he went for the pin, Evans frog-splashed onto Theory, breaking up the pin attempt. Big boot from Cass knocked Evans down, but Theory pushed him out of the ring so he could pin Evans. Cass gave him some payback by pulling him out of the ring. Cass chokeslammed Evans on the side of the apron. Theory came and delivered a hard left, preventing Cass from landing a big boot on Evans. OG Cutter to Big Cass gave Je\u2019Von Evans the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Evans in 10:00 to qualify for the MITB ladder match.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Robert\u2019s Recap: Interesting take to have Cass take the pin, but I think everyone knew Evans was going to win this one. I would guess he shows up at MITB to cost Evans the briefcase. Big Cass seemed to move a pace slower than the other two, but as a big man, it\u2019s hard to keep up. Evans talking trash during the match always makes it seem like a real fight. For Theory, it was clear he wasn\u2019t going to win this match, but I hope there is a future where we see him get a push to the main scene.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Tessitore plugged in the Name on the Canvas promotion.<\/p>\n<p>-WWE played a recap of the drama between The Bloodline and 946.<\/p>\n<p>-The Usos were backstage when Jacob met up with them. Fatu told them it wasn\u2019t a good idea to go after 946 on the same night as Roman&#8217;s title defense. Jacob warned The Usos that 946 wanted to pick them off one by one and then go after Roman. [c]<\/p>\n<p>-WWE announced all of their programming will be available through Netflix for Japanese viewers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) CHAD GABLE vs. DRAGON LEE \u2013 Intercontinental Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gable and Lee rolled around the ring without either of them really gaining any control. The crowd was hot for this match. A wrecking ball dropkick gave Lee momentum in the match. Lee then hit a tope con hilo. Gable countered a crossbody for a pin attempt, but only got a two count. A tornado DDT gave Dragon Lee the advantage again. Another impressive cannonball from the ring onto Gable who was sitting on the announcer\u2019s table. [c]<\/p>\n<p>Olympic Slam from the top, but Lee kicked out at two. Graves explained the flaw in Gable&#8217;s cover that led to Lee kicking out. Both men traded punches and then chops in the middle of the ring. A strong powerbomb from Gable led to another pin. Lee countered the moonsault leading to him hitting the Lights Out Elbow. Gable kicked out at two. Lee set up Gable on the top turnbuckle for a double stomp to the floor. The referee started his count as both wrestlers were on the ground. Both of them managed to make it back into the ring at the count of nine. Gable hit a moonsault for a very close two count. Lee countered a German suplex and hit Gable with the Operation Dragon. Gable kicked out at two point nine. Gable countered a Styles Clash into an Ankle Lock. Lee turned and landed some stiff kicks to Gable\u2019s face. Dragon then got out of the Ankle Lock and landed a Styles Clash. Gable remarkably kicked out. Gable got the Ankle Lock back in again, but this time Lee tapped out.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Gable in 16:00 to retain the IC Title.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Robert\u2019s Recap: The Mexican crowd was eating this match up from the start. Gable and Lee put on a show for them. I think most people knew Gable had these kinds of matches in him but just wasn\u2019t given the opportunity to prove it on Raw. The cannonball from Lee was just as impressive as last week&#8217;s. It was a little scary the way he landed; you could see his foot hit the rope as he flew. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and the crowd was here for it. Excellent match.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-A vignette of Bayley responding to Lyra played.<\/p>\n<p>-Penta was warming up backstage.<\/p>\n<p>-The camera panned the crowd showing off some of the celebrities in the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>-Kelani Jordan made her way to the ring. [c]<\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) KELANI JORDAN vs. LOLA VICE vs. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ \u2013Money in the Bank qualifying match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raquel and Kelani were in the ring when Lola Vice made her official main roster debut. Raquel chased Kelani out of the ring. Vice showed off her MMA skills as Kelani stayed outside the ring, waiting for the right opportunity to attack. Jordan joined the fight with her and Lola teaming up to go after Raquel. Raquel landed a massive chop to Lola\u2019s stomach, then a crossbody that took out both women. [c]<\/p>\n<p>Vice and Raquel were going at it in the ring when Vice dumped Rodriguez over the ropes. Jordan reentered the ring, but Lola\u2019s kicks knocked her down in the corner, followed by Raquel. Booty bumps to both Raquel and Kelani. Jordan rolled up Raquel for a two count. A spinning kick from Vice landed on Jordan, but Raquel broke up the pin. Jordan tried a 450 but was countered by Vice into a triangle. Raquel broke up the submission and tried for the Tejana Bomb. Vice rolled up Raquel for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Vice in 11:00.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Robert\u2019s Recap: Loved the decision to have Kelani in the match. She is primed and ready to make her main roster debut in the near future. Vice looked good in her main roster debut and was predictably going to win. I just thought Kelani would have been the one who got pinned. A solid qualifying match.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-946 cut a promo on a cell phone warning The Bloodline.<\/p>\n<p>-Penta was walking backstage, presumably to the ring. [c]<\/p>\n<p>-Joe Hendry debuted a new song.<\/p>\n<p>-Becky confronted Stephanie, suggesting she should get a shot at the title since she was in her corner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) ROMAN REIGNS vs. PENTA \u2013 World Heavyweight Title match<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A grand entrance for Penta, and it was very much deserved. Tessitore set the scene by giving the audience some background on Penta\u2019s life. The crowd sang to Penta. Alicia Taylor introduced both men, and the highly anticipated match began. Both competitors stared each other down as the crowd erupted. Penta ran the ropes but ran right into Roman\u2019s shoulder. Penta delivered chops and kicks while moving at lightning speed. He made the fatal mistake of trying to headbutt a Samoan, which allowed Roman to take control. Penta dumped Roman over the ropes and onto the floor. He then went flying over the ropes and hit a tope con hilo. [c]<\/p>\n<p>Roman slammed Penta spine-first into the corner. Penta tried to battle back with some chops, but Roman quickly put a stop to it. A boot from Penta and some stiff right hands gave him an opening. A backstabber gave Penta a pin attempt, but Roman quickly kicked out. A springboard DDT gave Penta another pin attempt, but Roman kicked out again. The Sacrifice snapped Roman\u2019s arm back, and Penta attempted a Penta Driver, but Roman countered with a standing uranage. [c\/pip]<\/p>\n<p>Back from picture-in-picture, Roman had Penta lined up for the Spear. However, when he struck the mat with his fist, he reached for his shoulder, which had been injured by The Sacrifice earlier in the match. Penta dropkicked Roman and attempted a Mexican Destroyer on the apron, but Roman avoided it and powerbombed Penta onto the announcers\u2019 table. Roman went for the Superman Punch, but Penta countered with the Penta Driver. Penta covered Roman, but Roman kicked out. Roman landed the Superman Punch when Penta attempted the Mexican Destroyer. Penta hurdled Roman\u2019s Spear attempt and landed the Mexican Destroyer. The crowd went crazy, but it was only a two-count. Both men were on the mat as the crowd cheered Penta on. Roman began hammering Penta with punches. He grabbed a microphone and demanded that the crowd acknowledge him. Penta hit a springboard Mexican Destroyer for yet another two-count. While on their knees, both men exchanged right hands. Penta had the upper hand until Roman unloaded with a huge right hand. Three superkicks from Penta left Roman against the ropes. Penta attempted another springboard move but was met with a Superman Punch and a Spear from Roman for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Reigns in 21:00 to retain the World Title.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Robert\u2019s Recap: Hot crowds can do so much to elevate a match. The atmosphere made this match feel like it was taking place at WrestleMania. Roman\u2019s facial expressions during the match were second to none. He sold with emotion just as well as he sold physically. If people weren\u2019t sure about Penta\u2019s superstar status when he first arrived, I think they found out tonight. Coming to WWE was probably the best decision of Penta\u2019s career. This probably won\u2019t be mentioned as a Match of the Year candidate, but you could make a strong case for it.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>FINAL THOUGHTS:<\/strong> More shows in Mexico, please! What a hot crowd. To be honest, anytime WWE travels outside of the U.S. for a show, the crowd always shows up. Maybe it was the crowd or simply good booking, but this was one of the best episodes of Monday Night Raw in a long time. Every match was good and made sense. A PLE-quality show is rare these days.
