With that said, let\u2019s move into the high points of this week\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>HIT \u2013 DARBY ALLIN VS. MYRON REED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was fantastic. Even with limited television time and a roster full of established talent ahead of him, Myron Reed keeps giving you reasons to believe he could become a singles star in AEW. The way Reed has reinvented the cutter is out of this world, and he made the most of every opportunity he was given here.<\/p>\n<p>Darby taking the time afterward to put Reed over was also a nice touch. AEW has struggled at times to let a moment breathe when the situation calls for it, but they got it right here. Reed was allowed to come out of a loss feeling more important than he did going into the match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HIT \u2013 PAUL WIGHT ON COMMENTARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paul Wight continues to improve on commentary. More than anything, he sounds like he\u2019s having a good time. When he sees something amazing, his reaction comes with natural emotion and genuine enthusiasm. It doesn\u2019t sound phony or overly rehearsed. Thekla may have given Zayda Steel a little too much offense, but Steel looked very good and made the most of the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Having seen Thekla in person, she isn\u2019t one of the biggest wrestlers on the roster, but you would never know that from watching her on television. Her movements, facial expressions, and charisma allow her to project like a star.<\/p>\n<p>Having Willow on commentary also gave the match a purpose beyond simply getting Thekla another victory. It provided a final piece of television build before their match at All Out, with the winner earning a shot at Mercedes Mon\u00e9 and the AEW Women\u2019s World Title at WrestleDream.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MISS \u2013 DEATH RIDERS OVERLOAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I understand what this episode was designed to accomplish. Pac defeated Adam Priest before joining the Death Riders to attack Andrade and set up their National Title match at All Out. Wheeler Yuta\u2019s post-match attack on \u201cSpeedball\u201d Mike Bailey led to the brawl that built toward next Saturday\u2019s Tailgate Brawl, while Jon Moxley was positioned in the main event.<\/p>\n<p>Individually, those decisions made sense. Collectively, featuring four members of the Death Riders throughout the same episode felt like overkill. Giving Pac, Garcia, Yuta, and Moxley separate matches gave the group too much of the show\u2019s oxygen. Maybe I\u2019m simply suffering from Death Riders fatigue at this point, but Collision has enough depth that the episode didn\u2019t need to keep returning to the same faction.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>FINAL SCORE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HITS: 3<\/li>\n<li>MISSES: 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FINAL THOUGHTS<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2640006296\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Although a one-hour edition of Collision will air Wednesday, this was effectively the show\u2019s main go-home episode ahead of All Out next Saturday. The opener was awesome, and I enjoyed the post-match moment that allowed Darby Allin and Steven Borden to cut a promo. Beyond that, however, there was plenty of room for improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Readers may say, \u201cBrian, you\u2019re always asking for more promos and angles throughout the show, and that\u2019s what we got.\u201d That\u2019s fair. I don\u2019t know if those segments hit the way they were intended to.<\/p>\n<p>Watching \u201cSpeedball\u201d Mike Bailey and Wheeler Yuta wrestle also left me wondering whether that television time could have been used more effectively. Would a tag team match involving Kyle Fletcher &amp; Kevin Knight or giving the Motor City Machine Guns something meaningful to do have done more for the All Out build?
