But it still looked like about 350-400 in attendence. ROH did not announce a retrun date to Cleveland, so I hope they are not giving up on this market.

DARK MATCHES

(A) Bobby Dempsey beat Mitch Franklin and Osiris in a three way. Nothing special.

(B) Shane Hagadorn defeated Pele Primio (sp) to retain the Top of the Class trophy. If Hagadorn could get in better shape he could be a success on the main roster. The guy has good heel charisma and holds himself like a star.

DVD MATCHES

(1) Matt Sydal pinned Davey Richards. Nice match, but the crowd seemed a little quiet for this one.

(2) Delirious beat Jimmy Rave by submission. Rave blamed Daizee Haze for the loss. I get the feeling they will be repackaging Jimmy Rave in the future, now that Nana is gone.

(3) Austin Aries pinned Christopher Daniels after the 450 splash. Before the match Aries complained about the airlines losing his luggage and that he was wearing other peoples wrestling gear. Decent match but, but so far nothing stood out as really good.

(4) The Briscoes beat Roderick Strong & Homicide. First stand-out match of the evening. It was old school tag-team with Strong taking the beating, while the crowd waited for Homicide to get the tag. The end came when Jim Cornette threw in the tennis racket and the Briscoes used it on Homicide to get the pinfall.

(5) Bryan Danielson wrestled Samoa Joe to a 20 minute draw, so both men were eliminated out of the tournament. Danielson was wearing a cheap looking pair of blue trunks and no knee pads. I assume he lost his gear at the airport as well. This was a great match, both men proved why they are head and shoulders above most wrestlers working today. At the end the crowd wanted five more minutes, but Dragon told everyone to go to hell and attacked Joe. He left him lying in the ring while he walked to the back. I could watch Dragon wrestle every match on the card, that’s how great I think he is.

Intermission

(6) Irish Airborne defeated Titus & Payne. Nothing special, but IA have some really nice moves.

(7) Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero beat Colt Cabana & Jimmy Jacobs. to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles. Jimmy was distraught and distracted the whole match with Colt trying to make him not feel like the third wheel in the relationship with Lacey. At first I was hesitant about The kings of Wrestling being tag champs, but they work as great heels together. Jimmy left Colt so the Kings were able to pin Cabana for the win. After the match BJ Whitmer charged the ring and attacked Jacobs.

(8) The Survival of the Fittest Match started with one of the Briscoes pinning Austin Aries very early in the match. This led to the match almost becoming a tag match pitting the Briscoes against Sydal and Delirious. Sydal pinned both the Briscoes. I don’t remember the order, leaving Delirious and Sydal as the final two participants. It was then that this match picked up steam and became a four star plus match. The near falls were amazing and the crowd was on its feet by the end. After many attempts Delirious made Sydal tap out and became the winner of Survival of the fittest 2006.

NOTES: After a slow start this show built itself into a really good show. It is amazing booking that Delirious only got his first singles win seven months ago and is now winning this big tournament. What others would blow off as a comedy act, ROH has turned him into a legitimate star for the company. His post match promo, while jibberish, makes sense in the fact that the crowd can fill-in the blanks to what he is saying.

CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF EVEN MORE RECENT PWTORCH FLASHBACKS

We still invite live event reports in 2026 to be published here at PWTorch!
