It’s important that he has something significant on TNA’s biggest show of the year at Bound for Glory. “If” this open challenge leads to a big debut at Bound for Glory (please be Aleister/Malakai Black), then I’m inclined to give this decision a hit.

Joe Alonso steals a pin for the number 20 spot

I like the idea of Joe Alonso stealing the number 20 spot in the “Call your Shot” Gauntlet match at Bound for Glory by stealing a pin on downed Trey Miguel. Alonso has zero shot of winning the match but it adds to his sneaky, pest heel character. Trey Miguel now has the number one spot and I could see this leading to a quick feud between the two where Miguel obviously comes up on top and notches another win on his belt.

The Knockouts TV Title match being on the go-home Impact rather than the PPV

I’m in favor of saving one or two of the “bigger” match(es) that you could potentially have on your PPV and instead putting them on your go home show. The first advantage is that it provides a quality match to hopefully entice your weekly audience that may not buy the PPV or may decide to buy solely based on the strength of the match you gave them. The second advantage and that it helps keep the PPV tighter, leaves the fans wanting more, and doesn’t feel like you’re just trying to force every wrestler on the card for the sake of it. I didn’t like the match between Elayna Black and M by Elegance ending in a DQ win for Black so the title stays with M. I hope they don’t run this match back at Bound for Glory with a stupid stipulation.

Ricky Sosa’s confident backstage promo

Ricky Sosa came across as calm, yet confident in his backstage promo. His message was simple, he is going to beat Eddie Edwards at Bound for Glory. That’s all it needed to be. There wasn’t a ton of content but the pithiness was the point. Sosa will do his talking in the ring. I liked Eddie Edward’s promo, which opened the commercial break following Sosa’s, for the same reasons.

Shayna Baszler being Zoey Serrano’s “mystery” tag partner for the Knockout Tag Titles at Bound for Glory

While I didn’t like how we got there (see my “Misses”), I am a big fan of Shayna Baszler and her history with Zoey Serrano back in WWE makes the pairing feel more natural. This could very well be a badass tag team if they can keep Baszler for the long-term. I fully expect them to dominate Allie and Kiera Hogan, who never had much natural chemistry, and win the Knockouts Tag Titles at Bound for Glory. Hopefully this is the beginning of adding quality teams to a paper thing division.

Xia Brookside-Indie Hartwell dueling pre-taped promos

I wish that this build would have been less clunky and that they would have invested more in telling the story between Xia Brookside and Indi Hartwell, specifically, but I did like their opposing promos tonight. Both had convincing tones in their passion and dislike for one another and their desire to either retain or win the Knockouts Title. I bought into how much the championship means to both of them and that is one of the most important things I look for in my top championship matches. It wasn’t anything flashing, but it checked all the boxes for a go-home show.

ARTICLE CONTINUED BELOW…

Check out the latest episode of “Destination Impact” with Zac Clarke and Jerud Buhagiar, part of the PWTorch Dailycast line-up: CLICK HERE to stream (or search “pwtorch” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or any other iOS or Android app to subscribe free)

MISSES

The Hardys promos on repeat and Leon Slater playing second fiddle

“You can’t kill us.” If I hear this line in another promo, I might stick a pencil through my eardrums. This same schtick has been repeated for weeks upon weeks now and no one believes that anyone will kill you nor is it a clever or emotion-inducing line. Also, I really don’t like Leon Slater feeling like an after-thought in the build up to his own title match against Nic Nemeth at Bound for Glory. It’s been more about the Nemeths vs. the Hardys and this is the go-home show. Why is Leon’s first line that he hopes the Hardys beat the Nemeths for their tag titles tonight? That shouldn’t be his priority. Becoming the youngest TNA World Champion of all-time should be his lead-in. Also, calling Ryan Nemeth bug-eyed once, even twice, was a funny line but it’s been about three weeks in a row now. Making Slater say that the Nemeths are “going to be DELETED” feels very uncool to anyone watching who isn’t a TNA “sicko.”

The Knockouts Tag Title match being set-up on the go-home show from a single backstage interaction

Allie and Kiera Hogan cross paths with Zoey Serrano for about five seconds on the go-home Impact episode before Bound for Glory and that is how they set up the Knockouts Tag Title match for their “biggest show of the year” then go out and squash another jobber tag team? Much like Leon Slater’s involvement in his build to the World Title match, the Knockouts Tag Titles feel like such an after- thought it’s embarrassing to even have them on the roster, at this point. I love the idea of Shayna Baszler being Serrano’s “mystery” partner (as mentioned in my hits), but I wish that they would have established a stronger build to the reveal and the match. I would have built this over a multi-week period

The Righteous’s odd targets for their “flock”

So I guess that the Righteous have completely moved on from BDE and are now targeting Harley Hudson to be part of their “flock.” I thought that the Righteous vs. Rich Swann and BDE feud was one of the weirdest of the year in wrestling, so far, and that BDE was a really weird fit for the Righteous to pursue. Now they’ve completely pivoted to chasing Harley Hudson with no clues before the random, pre-taped package with them this week. Hudson has been a great fit as a face and has shown signs of growth so it seems odd to take her out of that lane and get her intertwined with the Righteous. The Righteous seem completely lost right now (pun intended) and any “rub” one might argue that they got from the Hardys is definitively gone.

Calling the International Title match the “Order Four-Way”

This forced meeting at a boardroom table felt forced and Ali calling the International Title match the “Order Four-Way” at Bound for Glory only added to that feeling. No one believes that Jason Hotch’s daughter told her Dad “hurt Ali” as he boarded his flight to San Antonio. The Skylar-Moore love story breakup from the group came out of nowhere. The Agent 0-Tasha Steelz breakup from the group came out of nowhere. This match is the definition of booking backwards. This “board meeting” did nothing to make me want to see the match more at Bound for Glory because it was glorified play-acting.

Having Fabian Aichner against KC Navarro days before their X-Division Title match

Why would you match the two biggest faces in the Bound for Glory X-Division Title match, Fabian Aichner and KC Navarro, wrestle against each other on the Impact go-home show for the PPV? Why make the fans potentially confuse their emotions? It’s not like there was some big gain for even having this match. It should have been these two tagging together against two other heels in the X-Division Title match or either Aichner or Navarro wrestle a heel in a singles match.

The Nemeths retaining the TNA Tag Team Titles and the SYX-Hardys bad blood being the main stories going into Bound for Glory

If the Nemeths were just going to retain the TNA Tag Titles going into Bound for Glory, then why did we spend so much time having them feud with the Hardys going into the PPV? I thought that, at least, we would be getting the titles on the Hardys so that the SYX could take them off them in their match but, instead, the takeaway we get from the final moments of the Bound for Glory go-home Impact is that the Nemeths are still tag champs and the SYX can, unchecked, attack people and mess with the lights to cause their enemies to lose matches. The actual Nic Nemeth vs. Leon Slater for the TNA World Title match is third from the top of our minds? How is that intelligent booking? This has me convinced that Slater is losing this match and will leave the company before the end of the year. Otherwise, what are we doing here?

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

HITS Moose’s open challenge for Bound for Glory I’m not normally a fan of open challenges and I’m certainly not a fan of defaulting to his “face of the franchise” tagline to conclude every promo, […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

52,28,27

post-223448","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-opnionandanalysis","category-specialists_hitsandmisses","category-specialists
https://www.pwtorch.com/site/wp-content/uploads/post/2026/10/Screenshot-2026-10-09-at-11.23.17-AM.png
["GET
