AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
REPORT BY WADE KELLER, PWTORCH EDITOR

Estimated Attendance: 275

The event, being taped for local cable, opened with Mick Karch interviewing Mortimer Plumtree. AWF President Paul Alperstein told Plumtree he can’t buy his way into the AWF.

(1) Wayne Bloom defeated Lester the Jester in the second round. The highlight saw Bloom ram Jester’s back hard into the ringpost. Bloom won with a roll-up out of the corner.

(2) Tom Zenk & Billy Blaze beat The Hater & Number 14 (a Rocco Rock look-a-like). Blaze sold most of the bout with Zenk eventually getting a hot tag. In the end Hater accidentally hit his partner and Blaze dropkicked him and scored the pin. Zenk brawled to the back with Hater. This may have been the most controversial moment in AWF history as the pinfall took place after the third fall ended and the bell rang. AWF officials would not comment on the record regarding the matter, but promised an internal investigation and a hearing in front of the rules committee. Tito Santana just shrugged his shoulders backstage when asked about the finish.

(3) Horace the Psychopath beat “Lucious” Lenny Lane. Horace was the star of the show as enough of the crowd was familiar with him that the rest of the crowd picked up on cheering him. In the second round Lane rammed Horace’s head into the turnbuckle which caused absolutely no harm. Horace dominated offense in the third round. Lane took over offense in the fourth round with an eye gouge. Horace caught Lane charging in the corner and then gave him an overhead slam. Lane gave Horace a sideslam for a two count. Lane stayed on offense until missing a corner splash. Lane flew over the top rope and nailed Horace at ringside, running into a woman in a wheelchair at ringside in the process. The woman loved every minute of it. Lane missed a moonsault. Horace ran a lap around him and then hit a flip splash for the three count in round four. After the match Horace dove on the ringside mats. Horace continues to be the most entertaining locally based wrestler.

ARTICLE CONTINUED BELOW…

Check out the latest episode of “PWTorch ’90s Pastcast” with Patrick Moynahan and Alex McDonald, part of the PWTorch Dailycast line-up: CLICK HERE to stream (or search “wade keller” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or any other iOS or Android app to subscribe free)

<iframe loading="lazy" title="PWTorch ‘90s Pastcast - Moynahan & McDonald discuss PWTorch Newsletter #408 (9-28-96) incl. As Sarge circled the ring, a fan in the second row stood on his chair and dropped his jeans revealing red, white, and blue boxer shorts. Sarge saluted him. The match itself was solid, but basic. Santana sold virtually the entire match leading to a hot tag for Sarge in the fourth round. Sarge had the match won when the fourth round ended. The first round broke down into a four way brawl with chairs being used.

(6) Horace eliminated Randy Gusto and Lenny Lance to win a battle royal.

CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF EVEN MORE RECENT PWTORCH FLASHBACKS

We still invite live event reports in 2026 to be published here at PWTorch!
