Then he commented on freeze-frames of last week’s confrontation with The Bloodline and The 946. They showed arrivals of wrestlers including Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Ethan Page, Iyo Sky, and Becky Lynch. Tessitore said they’ve heard rumors that Stephanie Vaquer was unable to compete tonight and G.M. Adam Pearce would address it.

-Pearce stood mid-ring and said he was informed that Vaquer was not medically cleared to compete tonight. Fans booed. “Trust me, I’m more disappointed than you are,” he said. He announced that Lynch was still there (almost no response). He announced that Lynch would face Liv Morgan for the Women’s Title tonight. Tessitore gasped. Sami Zayn interrupted as he walked onto the stage. Fans booed.

He said Pearce flew him to Fresno and had him backstage getting promotional photos taken of him for Crown Jewel. He said he looked at the line-up sheet and he didn’t see his name. He said this is Roman Reigns’s show so why didn’t he summon him to do publicity. He said Roman has a part-time schedule. Fans chanted “OTC!” He said when Reigns saw Fresno on the calendar, he chose to skip it. He said Roman earned that right. “I wish I was skipping Fresno too, but I’m not,” he said.

He “invoked his privilege” for TV time and asked Pearce “respectfully get the hell out of my ring because the champion has something he wants to get off his chest.” Fans chanted, “Sami sucks!” Sami absorbed it and asked, “Is that right?” He said what’s crazy is that you could be a WrestleMania main eventer and the WWE Champion and still be the most underrated wrestler in the world. He said he thought fans could identify greatness if it stood in front of them, but they can’t. He said they need to be spoon fed who is great. He took digs at and mocked Trick Williams, CM Punk, and Roman.

He said he doesn’t brag a lot, “but maybe I should.” He said no one in the industry’s history has done more with less than him. He said no one has walked through more crap and come out as clean as him. “Anyone else would have succumbed to the darkness, but I dug deeper and deeper until I struck gold,” he said. He said he could brag about that, but he doesn’t. He said the Bloodline wasn’t great until he came around. Then it took the business to new heights and made WWE hundreds of millions of dollars in TV rights fees. He said he’s why Raw is on Netflix. He said people thank Roman, “but I did it!”

He said he could brag about being the most versatile performer in the industry, but he doesn’t. “Unless your name is Shawn, Eddie, or Kurt, you don’t belong in the same conversation as me!” he yelled. He said he could brag about that, but he doesn’t. He said maybe it’s time he starts. He asked fans to acknowledge him. He said they could chant “OTC!” all they wanted, but he isn’t coming. He said he’s focusing on The 946 instead of him and “that’s a fatal mistake.”

He mentioned Penta. He said before Money in the Bank, Je’Von Evans came out and interrupted him. “In what world does Je’Von Evans get off…” at which point Evans interrupted him. “Please, please shut up,” Evans said. He said Sami keeps complaining that everyone is gunning for him, but that’s because he’s the WWE Champion. He entered the ring and said he wanted Sami to tell him what he was going to say to his face. Sami said he’d say it as respectfully as he could, but he didn’t owe him any respect. He said he’d give it to him anyway “because I am a good guy.”

Sami said there’s not a world where Evans should be interrupting him. “Not now, not ever,” he said. “Do you understand?” Evans asked if he wanted to talk crazy. He said Sami is trying to be one of the best, but he’s trying to be thee best. He said maybe he should stop talking until he gives the WWE Universe something to talk about. He said maybe Roman was right because if they’re going to be real, Sami might not go to Crown Jewel with that title. Evans said he’d love to go there and face Roman. He said he reminds him of him, but he’s not even in his obit. He said maybe in five years with a lot of hard work he’ll be perhaps half as good as him. “Until then, you don’t get to look me in the eye,” he said. Sami dropped the mic and left. Pearce chimed in. He asked Sami where he was going. He said if he wants to earn people’s respect, he should face Evans for the championship next. Sami didn’t mind wrestling Evans, but he didn’t like that it was for the title nor that it was “next.” [c]

(1) SAMI ZAYN vs. JE’VON EVANS – WWE Title match

The bell rang 22 minutes into the hour. Barrett said he’s a fan of Evans, but Evans hasn’t earned the right to share the ring with Sami. He noted that Evans had his shoulders covered in tape and said this should be an easy night for Sami considering his condition. Sami got in offense against Evans early, but Evans knocked him to ringside and leaped over the top rope and landed on him. He threw him back into the ring and then climbed to the top rope. Sami knocked him off balance and went for a superplex. Evans fought back and knocked Sami down. He climbed to the top rope. Sami shoved him to the floor. Evans’ head or chin hit the apron his way down. They cut to a break at 5;00. [c]

Back live, they showed a close-up of the WWE Title belt. Tessitore reset the show and noted how Sami wasn’t scheduled to be on the show, but he opened his mouth, and now he’s defending against Evans live on Raw. Evans surged and scored a near fall. Evans countered an exploder suplex into a roll-up for a two count. Sami came back with an exploder into the corner. He set up a Helluva kick, but Evans caught him with a sidekick. He followed with a top rope splash for a near fall that popped the crowd. Sami rolled out of the ring. The lights went out, and out walked Penta to his theme. He held out his Money in the Bank briefcase. Tessitore exclaimed, “Are we getting a cash-in opportunity as well?”

Evans then surprised Sami for a near fall. Bron Breakker jumped Penta from behind at ringside. Evans leaped onto Breakker as Breakker was admiring the briefcase. Sami gave Evans another exploder into the corner. He followed with a Helluva kick for the win.

WINNER: Sami Zayn in 13:00 to retain the WWE Title.

(Keller’s Analysis: Good opening segment. It’s rare for anything with Sami, but it started to feel drawn out and overstaying its welcome. The resulting match was a nice bonus.)

-After the match, Breakker let Sami pass him as he left the ring. Breakker attacked Evans. Penta made the save. Bronson Reed then attacked Penta. Logan Paul applauded at ringside. Tessitore said The Vision was “in full form.” (Austin Theory and Maxxine were not there.) Reed leaped off the top rope with a Tsunami and then Reed held Penta for a speeding spear from Breakker. Reed landed another Tsunami.

-They went to Tessitore and Barrett. Tessitore noted Raw starts at 6 ET / 3 PT next Monday.

-A video recap aired of last week’s angle with The Bloodline and The 946.

-Tessitore plugged they’d hear from The 946 later. They showed Lynch stretching backstage. [c]

-A recap aired of Tiffany Stratton saving Chelsea Green from an attack by The Judgment Day with a tease of a MITB cash-in.

-Backstage, The Judgement Day were chatting. Liv walked in and asked if they heard she has to defend her title. She said she wasn’t prepared. Raquel Rodriguez said she’d take care of Iyo Sky and that’d set the tone. Roxanne Perez assured her everything would be okay. Liv disagreed. She said everyone is against her. She said she’ll beat Lynch anyway. Dominik Mysterio followed behind Liv and said he’d have a talk with her.

-They went back to Tessitore and Barrett at ringside. Tessitore threw to a video previewing the Lyra Valkyria vs. Bayley match. Lyra said last time she clearly didn’t go far enough. Bayley said she’d end Lyra’s career and show why she’s the standard of pro wrestling.

-Bayley made her ring entrance. [c]

-A commercial aired for Crown Jewel with scenes of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

-Tessitore plugged action figures of CM Punk, Ted DiBiase, John Cena, and “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig.

(Keller’s Analysis: The facial likeness is so improved these days.)

-Pearce told an ailing Evans he put up a great effort. Evans said he’s not finished. Penta told Pearce that he and Evans want the WWE Tag Team Titles. Pearce suggested it for Crown Jewel. He told them to be sure they’re “on the right side of the numbers” next time.

(2) BAYLEY vs. LYRA VALKYRIA – No Disqualification match

As Valkyria made her entrance, they showed Kelani Jordan at ringside with her NXT Women’s Title match. Tessitore plugged Halloween Havoc this Saturday on The CW. The bell rang 55 minutes into the hour. Bayley went on the attack right away. Lyra recovered as Bayley set up a table at ringside. She leaped onto Bayley at ringside with a crossbody block. Bayley came back and leaped off the ringside steps and clotheslined Lyra off a chair at ringside. Bayley put Lyra on another chair and then climbed onto the barricade. Lyra got up and knocked Bayley down. Lyra threw Bayley into the steps, then back into the ring for a near fall. Bayley leaped through the ropes and crashed Lyra through a table leaning against the announce desk. With both down, they cut to a break. [c]

[HOUR TWO]

Lyra choked Bayley with a kendo stick in the ring after the break. Bayley came back with a flying elbowdrop for a near fall. Bayley yanked off her belt and whipped Lyra with it. Bayley blocked a spinning wheel kick and slammed Lyra. Bayley then sunset flipped Lyra into a chair wedged in the corner for a two count. Bayley hit Lyra with a broom a couple times (not my first choice to hurt someone if I have my choice of everything else). She pulled a table out from under the ring and set it up. Lyra recovered and went after Bayley at ringside and threw her back into the ring. Bayley bodyslammed Lyra onto a chair. When she went for a top rope elbowdrop, Lyra blocked it with a chair and then scored a near fall after a gut-wrench powerbomb.

Lyra placed Bayley on two chairs. When she went went for a top rope moonsault, Bayley moved. Bayley applied a crossface. Lyra raked her eyes. Bayley managed to land a Bayley-to-Belly for a two count. Lyra gave Bayley a Night Wing off of a chair and then applied a bulldog choke. Bayley rolled to ringside and broke the hold at 15:00. Bayley slammed Lyra on the floor. Barrett said they’d have to be scraped off the mat after this.

Bayley pulled a metal trash can out from under the ring. Lyra begged off and pleaded with her to stop. She kissed Bayley’s boots. Bayley wound up anyway. Lyra then ducked and knocked Bayley down. Tessitore said Bayley’s pause to think about it cost her. Lyra put Bayley on the side of the trash can, but when Lyra leaped at her, Bayley slammed her onto it. Bayley then put Lyra on a table at ringside. She leaped off the ring apron and crashed onto Lyra with an elbowdrop, breaking the table. Bayley entered, but Lyra swung a kendo stick at her. Bayley ducked and then applied a Kendo crossface. Lyra tapped.

Tessitore said he doesn’t have words for what they just saw. Bayley stood over Lyra and raised her arm and a kendo stick.

WINNER: Bayley in 17:00 via submission.

(Keller’s Analysis: A good, intense fight. They worked hard throughout and had the crowd with them.)

[c]

-A vignette aired with The 946. Royce Keys said The Bloodline were standing tall until he calls the next play. He said ain’t nobody safe and challenged Solo to a match next Monday on Raw.

(3) IYO SKY vs. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ

The bell rang 21 minutes into the hour. Sky fended off an early attack by Raquel and leaped through the ropes at Raquel. Sky high-fived three little kids at ringside who were thrilled (although Iyo somehow seemed more thrilled). She leaped off the ringside barricade. Barrett said she should be disqualified by getting an assistance from the audience. “It’s a five year old,” said an exasperated Tessitore. “Seriously, you’re like the Eagles fans who booed Santa Claus a while back.” Raquel knocked Sky off the top rope. They cut to a break at 2:00. [c]

They fought back and forth for a few minutes. Raquel grew frustrated after a Sky kickout. Sky charged at Raquel for a Bullet Train, but Raquel kicked her and scored a near fall. Sky head-scissored Raquel into the corner and then leaped off the top rope with a flying missile dropkick. She kipped up and played to the crowd. Then she charged and landed the meteora. She followed with her moonsault, but Raquel lifted her knees. Raquel then set up a Tejana bomb, but Sky slipped free and rolled up Raquel for a three count. Raquel threw a fit as Sky celebrated at rinsgide. Barrett said she should demand a title match after that.

WINNER: Sky in 11:00.

-Perez attacked Sky at ringside and threw her back into the ring. Raquel joined in a beatdown.

-They cut to Solo Sikoa with the Usos and Roman Reigns in the background. “Your ass ain’t safe from me,” he said. He said The Bloodline runs this place and they mean it.

-Tessitore said that was Solo accepting Royce Keys’s challenge from earlier.

-They showed Shiloh Hill at ringside, who faces Naraku on Saturday night.

-Chad Gable made his ring entrance. Dragon Lee joined him.

(Keller’s Analysis: Oh no, Gable’s theme song is starting to grow on me.) [c]

(4) BIG CASS & “ALL EGO” ETHAN PAGE vs. DRAGON LEE & CHAD GABLE

The bell rang 40 minutes into the hour. At 2:00, Gable leaped off the top rope with a moonsault onto Ethan and Cass. Gable then launched Dragon over the top rope at Ethan and Cass. He overshot Ethan and barely grazed Cass before going kerplop onto the floor. They cut to a break. [c]

Lee got a hot-tag at 7:00 and rallied. He leaped through the ropes and knocked Ethan and Cass into barricades on opposite sides of the ring. He countered a Big Cass comeback with a tornado DDT. He hit a Hidden Blade-style elbow for a two count seconds later. Ethan gave Gable an Egoplex at ringside. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”

Lee checked on Gable at ringside and called for the ref to check. Cass pulled Lee onto the ring apron and then went for a chokeslam. Lee countered with a roll-up for a two count. Cass came back with a clothesline. Ehtan and Cass attacked Lee two-on-one. Lee gave Ethan a DDT. Cass caught Lee with a big boot. Ethan then hit an Ego Plex for the win.

WINNER: Ethan & Cass in 10:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: Solid action. It counts as a clean win for the heels other than extended two-on-one action in the ring which the ref allowed like he was getting paid by AEW. The idea was that Gable being hurt at ringside distracted Lee.)

-A clip aired of a microdrama from ReelShorts starring Michael Hayes as the villain.

-A vignette aired on Lynch. She talked about Vaquer not being cleared. She said when Vaquer is cleared again, the stakes will be higher since she’ll be champion by then. Lynch said she had hopes and expectations for Liv and thought she’d be the one to help the business flourish. She said in the world of “flash in the pans,” she’s the flame. “Welcome to the big time!” she closed with.

-They showed Liv backstage heading to the entrance tunnel. [c]

-Tessitore hyped that Breakker & Theory would defend against Evans & Penta at Crown Jewel. (Still no specific mention of the host city.)

-Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviewed Breakker, Reed, and Logan. She asked for their reaction. Logan had both belts over his shoulders. She said them challenging The Vision makes them dumber than Penta probably looks under his mask.

-Tessitore plugged Solo vs. Keys and John Cena appearing for the first time since retiring.

[OVERRUN]

(5) LIV MORGAN vs. BECKY LYNCH – WWE Title match

As Lynch came out, Tessitore called her one of the most decorated women in WWE history. Liv then made her entrance. (Oh no, Liv’s entrance theme is growing on me.) Lynch got a weak response during formal ring introductions, reflective of her muddled presentation since her return. Liv seemed to actually get more cheers, but again a mix and rather muted. The bell rang 4 minutes into the hour.

Lynch landed a couple armdrags and applied an armbar. Liv stood and yanked Lynch hard to the mat. Liv went for a sunset bomb over the top rope, by Lynch blocked it and stomped on her chest. She leaped off the ring apron with a flying fist, then played to the crowd trying to get a reaction as they cut to a break at 2:00. [c]

Liv was in control after the break. Lynch made a comeback and leaped off the top rope and landed a legdrop for a two count. Liv landed a lung blower for a near fall. Liv threw a tantrum in the ring in frustration. Lynch stood. Liv charged. Lynch caught her with a back elbow. Lynch gave Liv a Russian Leg Sweep off the middle rope for a two count. They cut to a double box break. [c/db]

Lynch was in control coming out of the break and landed a superplex. Lynch landed a slidekick and then began to clear the announce desk at 12:00. Lynch gave Liv a Manhandle Slam. She tried to get her back into the ring, but Liv rolled back to ringside. A graphic hyped Halloween Havoc. Liv gave Lynch a sunset bomb. Both were down and slow to get up. They both barely beat getting counted out.

Liv landed Oblivion for a dramatic near fall. Lynch landed a Manhandle a minute later. Liv kicked out. Lynch looked shocked. She pounded away at Liv’s back with forearms in frustration. Lynch applied a Disarm Her. Perez and Raquel ran to ringside. Lynch let up her grip. Liv rolled to the ropes. Perez held Lynch. Rodriguez went for a big boot, but Lynch moved, so Rodriguez kicked Perez inadvertently. Lynch leaped off the ring apron onto Perez and Rodriguez. Lynch gave Liv a Manhandle Slam, but Perez and Rodriguez jumped into the ring and attacked Lynch for the DQ.

WINNER: Lynch via DQ in 18:00.

-Chelsea Green ran out. Tessitore said it’ll be champ vs. champ at Crown Jewel. When Green was taking a beating, Sky ran out for the save. She leaped off the top rope onto Perez and Rodriguez.
