JON MOXLEY &amp; DANIEL GARCIA (DEATH RIDERS VS. THE CUT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coming off a big heel turn last week and a new group named (twice) on Saturday, I thought this was a great way to start Dynamite. Moxley in the first match of the evening got the crowd going and we got to see Jay White do what he does best, be a heel. He&#8217;s a natural at it and this is where he should be slotted.<\/p>\n<p>Just before the announcers made reference to it, I thought how strange it was to hear Wheeler Yuta get cheered! It seems they are finally putting the Death Riders in a clear babyface role and that&#8217;s a good thing. Claudio is being built up as a powerhouse in the past couple of weeks and I think they&#8217;ve done a great job re-establishing him as a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n<p>I am looking forward to Anarchy in the Arena, which was set up for Full Gear, but there is one aspect of this new group that concerns me. I understand at this point, you have to have a lot of interference and gang warfare to establish the group and why they should be feared, but I hope this is not a group that constantly interferes in matches. That&#8217;s not the AEW way and I don&#8217;t want it to become House of Torture from New Japan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KYLE FLETCHER VS. JACK PERRY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was another great match that was accompanied by very entertaining commentary with Don Callis joining the desk. The exceptional wrestling skills of both participants were on full display.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite moment was early in the match that when the fans chanted their obscenities to Callis, Fletcher just stopped, left the ring, and gave Callis a hug, which was followed by loud boos. That was followed by Perry doing the same to Taz, which elicited cheers. If that was a scripted moment, then it was a good, fun idea. If it wasn&#8217;t, it was brilliant instincts by both guys, especially Fletcher, who really understands the role of the heel and shows how good he really is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUICK HITS<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-2636023096\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisements\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&#8211; I really liked the New Level segment. We may eventually get to a Texas Death Match, but there was no insult to the fans&#8217; intelligence here. There is no reason the New Level should want a match like that and no reason for them to hate Brodido &amp; Hangman. There is no reason for the New Level to be heels at this point, so I&#8217;d prefer they don&#8217;t &#8220;come around&#8221; on the idea a hardcore match like Texas Death.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; My &#8220;Hit of the Night&#8221; was the garbage can Claudio threw at Austin Gunn coming right back into his arms after slamming off Gunn&#8217;s head. Couldn&#8217;t do that again in 10 tries!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The FTR vs. Motor City Machine Guns match three was another good one. I enjoy watching these guys go at it and I&#8217;m glad the MCMG are winning clean when they win, while FTR cheats. That&#8217;ll keep MCMG strong if the cheating leads to a series win by FTR.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Darby Allin vs. Josh Alexander was exactly what I expected. It was very entertaining, but very predictable. It was the typical Darby physical match where they did things that made you say, &#8220;I can&#8217;t believe they did those things on a random Wednesday&#8230; I hope Darby is okay!&#8221; Darby is always okay and he always finds a way to survive these enjoyable matches. The most shocking thing to come out of the match was finding out what Darby is doing over the next week. He has one of the best entrances and songs in the company. The fans want to cheer for him. He brings his daughter to big matches.<\/p>\n<p>My issue here is that the decision to put him with Ilya Dragunov is misguided. For those who haven&#8217;t watched much of Dragunov prior to him coming to AEW, he&#8217;s still much of a mystery. Those fans don&#8217;t know exactly what he is all about. Putting him with a respected veteran like Ciampa does neither of them any favors.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-373466087\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\" role=\"region\" aria-label=\"Advertisements\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Ciampa should be a tough babyface battling in the mid-card and Dragunov should be pitted against legitimate heels where he is the true fan favorite and then can show what he can do.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PERSEPHONE LOSING HER TITLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, this is not a criticism on Queen Aminata winning a Women&#8217;s Division mid-card title. I&#8217;m happy for her. She seems to be a very hard worker and has put in her time. The faces of the women who came out to congratulate her afterwards showed all you need to know about how they feel about her.<\/p>\n<p>I just think Persephone should have won and remained champion because she is such a standout and had so much more she could offer as TBS champ. Persephone is just so far ahead of the Queen and many others in the division when it comes to emoting and selling. You can see the confidence she has.<\/p>\n<p>During introductions, Aminata did not receive a loud ovation. It picked up a bit during the match and then swelled to a roar after the near fall late. I believe Persephone is the one who made that happen. Her trash talking, facial expressions, and swagger turned the crowd against her and for her opponent. I think it was premature to take the title off Persephone as she could have continued a reign where fans desperately wanted someone to shut her up and take her title.
