{"id":26450,"date":"2016-07-20T15:55:59","date_gmt":"2016-07-20T20:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/?p=26450"},"modified":"2016-07-24T02:18:31","modified_gmt":"2016-07-24T07:18:31","slug":"719-wwe-smackdowndraft-tv-rating-pops-nearly-match-raw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pwtorch.com\/site\/2016\/07\/20\/719-wwe-smackdowndraft-tv-rating-pops-nearly-match-raw\/","title":{"rendered":"7\/19 Smackdown\/Draft TV Rating pops to nearly match Raw"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pwtor-1576049490\" class=\"pwtor-before-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><hr \/><b>SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)... <\/b>\r\n\r\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/widget.spreaker.com\/player?show_id=3076978&theme=light&playlist=false&playlist-continuous=false&autoplay=false&live-autoplay=false&chapters-image=true&episode_image_position=right&hide-logo=false&hide-likes=false&hide-comments=false&hide-sharing=false&hide-download=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"140px\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\r\n<hr \/><\/div><p><strong>By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Live Smackdown premiere\/one-time WWE Draft event led to a huge surge in Smackdown&#8217;s TV audience Tuesday night on USA Network, almost beating Raw the previous night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WWE Smackdown TV Ratings Tracking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>July 19:\u00a0<\/strong>The Tuesday night premiere scored a 2.20 TV rating, setting a high-mark for Smackdown entering a new era.<\/p>\n<p>Smackdown nearly topped Raw the night before, which drew a 2.22 rating leading into the Live Smackdown\/Draft special.<\/p>\n<p>Previously on Thursday nights, Smackdown was ranging in the 1.5-1.6 ratings, representing a 40 percent jump for the Live premiere.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Smackdown Live drew 3.190 million viewers, more than 1.0 million more than what last Thursday&#8217;s show drew.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated:<\/strong> Smackdown actually edged out Monday&#8217;s Raw in viewership, which averaged 3.133 million viewers.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-4217724768\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>&#8211; DEMOGRAPHICS: Smackdown jumped off the page with Tuesday night&#8217;s ratings compared to the last Thursday episode.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adults 18-49 jumped 111 percent to a 1.18 rating<\/li>\n<li>Males 18-34 jumped 198 percent to a 1.49 rating after drawing a 0.50 rating last Thursday; a gain of nearly one full TV rating point<\/li>\n<li>Males 18-49 jumped 154 percent to a 1.50 rating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Historically, the last time Smackdown topped a 2.0 TV rating was a year-and-a-half ago for a Live Smackdown on January 29, 2015 when Smackdown moved to Thursday nights on Syfy.<\/p>\n<p>The last time Smackdown topped a 2.2 rating was a live Smackdown on USA Network on December 18, 2012 during the &#8220;WWE Week&#8221; run on USA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caldwell&#8217;s Analysis:\u00a0<\/strong>This was certainly a one-time pop\u00a0with the Draft and Live Smackdown premiere on the same night, but it gives Smackdown some momentum going forward.
